They say the eyes are the windows to the soul, Mike. And the more I watched her, and looked at her eyes, the more I grew concerned. Forget the weird fixation with the O on her forehead, which I thought was just a birth mark, it was how animated she became toward the end and as she got closer to the camera. That's true. Our Road Safety Act says if police officers have a reasonable believe that a driver has committed a driving offence ie hooning, high speed, etc car is impounded for 30 days. It's for every driver of a moving vehicle.

All the arguments she made toward Judge Webster is things that would come up in trial for the Judge to decide on. Even if she is guilty of the charges, the defence she puts forward at trial, her demeanour throughout and any allocution at the end is important for the judge when she is sentenced.

I love that everyone - the judge, the DA, and stand-by counsel - is busting their ass to make clear and cogent arguments about a serious constitutional issue. Defense Counsel is fighting for his constutional rights, the DA is addressing the statute, and the judge is considering the various authority. Everyone's doing their best to fully and fairly consider the issue, and everyone's advocating for who they're supposed to (the judge, of course, is not advocating for anything but due process). The only person who isn't addressing this with professionalism and intelligence is the defendant. It makes me happy to see what due process looks like.
