Disney: *cries "Racist!" to everyone who questions them race swapping their characters, claiming we need more diversity* Also Disney: *turns in an established black character into a white guy* If this doesn't convince you that Disney doesn't give two craps about actual representation, I don't know what will. It's a shame too, because if they actually looked at the character, they would know Thunderball is also a genius-level physicist who was able to make a miniature gamma bomb, something even Bruce Banner couldn't do at the time. Jen unses powers for selfish agenda so, what's left for Titania? i really liked you bringing up Titania as she was a villain I was really looking forward to seeing. if the writers actually read the source material they could have combined that with what they did with her in the show Imagine a story where you have this girl who was bullied growing up for her small weak/ skinny body type maybe even suffering from body dysmorphia who's extremely self conscious who then one day finds a way to give herself power, strength, and a bigger taller build maybe she comes across a version of the super soldier serum or she's a scientist who experimented on herself either way after she gets the powers she gets a boost of confidence and uses her powers to gain fame , notoriety and becomes the famous influencer we see in the show but then she hulk showes up who's bigger, taller, sexier, and stronger than she is and instantly starts to become more famous than she is so all those feelings of self consciousness, and not feeling like she's enough comes flooding back to her and she feels she has to push herself and become better and stronger than she hulk starting Thier the rivalry with each other. this world give her a relatable back story, motivation and actually make her a character. which is pretty much the problem with all the characters in the show who weren't previously established Thier all flat and one dimensional.

I love your reviews and opinions. I wish more people would hear it , it seems like the internet and Hollywood tend to see people with your opinions as misogynistic man babies ( which clearly you’re not) . I wish people could see this show for what it really is and not what they want or think it is. I’ve always said that when people support a bad show , the creators, producers , directors, heads of studios are going to keep pumping out mediocre, bland and abysmal products and shows . They’re gonna keep pumping out these processed “fast food “ shows because people are addicted and they are impatient. A bad show being sold as a gold and having an audience blindly buying it , isn’t good for the consumer and the state of storytelling . Now if She-Hulk was a really great show , it had no man hating, it wasn’t a poor attempt at Sex and the city and had a compelling character and storytelling AND IT STILL GOT HATED ON , then the hate wouldn’t matter because good stories , good films , good shows stand the test of time and they surpass all the hate , it reaches the audience it’s meant to reach and it will get its “happily ever after “. Look at Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man for instance, he was not well received as Spider-Man, but once NWH came out more and more people gave his Spider-Man a second chance and some changed there mind , some remained the same but the point is that he surpassed the hate and so did the film and now people are praising him because in the end the film wasn’t as bad as people garnered it to be. She-Hulk on the other hand deservers the critiques it’s getting , maybe not the super misogynistic quotes you see here or there, but options like yours and others , they’re warranted because She-Hulk is just not that good. But if people keep lying it themselves or actually liking and eating this “fast food” of a show , then what lessons do the writer , director and people who worked on this show learn. The answer is Nothing. Because people are trying to seek this show as perfect. It’s not horrendously awful , buts it’s not wear near a silver medal, it’s bronze at best

FINALLY someone addressed Titania. Another issue with the show was that they gave the Abomination the ability to turn back to normal, which was something he never did in the comics and a major reason why he hated Bruce, because unlike him, Bruce was able to lead a somewhat normal life compared to him. Though the real reason no one liked Blonsky was because prior to his transformation, he abused his spouse, Nadia Dornova, who had fled to the US to escape him. Though when it comes to the MCU or Hulk adaptations in general, everything has to be watered down.

She's sad and a joke, because she's a self-insertion by the writer. It's just Jessica Gao using She Hulk for power fantasies and therapy. It's a chance for Gao to complain about her problems, and imagine if she had Hulk powers herself. But she's forced to make it a lawyer show with Marvel characters, so she just incorporates those things in the laziest ways possible.

As insufferable as She Hulk is, I'm still hoping they don't cancel it. I'm instead hoping all the people involved get fired and replaced. Imagine if season 2 was a soft reboot of the series where Jen actually does learn a lesson in humility and grow as a person, or actually get competent courtroom scenes. And she can break the fourth wall the whole time, making jokes at the expense of the previous crew.

I'm pretty sure the trademark thing only works if the trademark is being used for similar purposes. Ex. Dr. Pepper is trademarked but Coca-Cola can't sue a dentist named "Dr.Pepper" for marketing themselves. Unless Titainia starts calling herself the "She-Hulk" there isn't really a problem.

@@jeremyf9124 Yeah when I first looked it up it said Coca-Cola and Pespi-Co hold a majority on the rights to it. (Coca-Cola has the trademark in Europe, Pepsi-Co has it in Canada.) The point is that a soda brand can't sue a doctor.

This show seems to be screaming “we don’t care, please put us out of our misery”. They don’t bother looking at the source material. They don’t put enough money for the cg. They don’t get writers who know how to write court scenes. They rely on cameos from characters people don’t care much for, and make us go from ambivalent to annoyed with them. It really is like they are seeing how bad a show they can create before people will stop watching.
@eedoamitay33412 жыл бұрын
Unreal. Showwriters these days are the worst. It really feels like there is something going on here with screen writers these days, like there is a class they are all taking that is teaching them all the same hot garbage as writing lessons and we see the same exact mistakes happening from a majority of new shows. It's pretty fascinating but also very depressing.

If titania is supposed to annoyance that messes with Jen, then it still doesn't really work for me here. I haven't read every interaction before her and Jen, but the recent she hulk comic kinda establishes (if it wasn't established already) that titania does attack jen randomly. I only was able to believe that because I already knew about their past fights.

Yeah. The race-swap on Thunderball REALLY surprised me. .... I guess I was expecting too much from this show. Having grown up with the John Buscema She-Hulk, I was hoping for that. Bruce being faced with the decision to save Jen and risk her future or her death. Jen learning how to control her powers. Not just Mary Sue her way through the show. Cover some of Bruce's back story about his alleged abuse as a child, which contributed to his Hulkness. Maybe some episodes of her crossing paths with Daredevil, in and out of the courtroom. I appreciated the John Burne era artwork but never liked the tongue-in-cheek, fourth-wall-breaking format. Titania is a favorite character from way back and they RUINED her. Adn the Wrecking Crew was a waste. One can hope Goa, and her ilk, never get hold of Shadow Lass, Saturn Girl or Dawn Star.

As someone whose favorite Marvel Heroine is She Hulk, this Series has been Ridiculous to say the Least. This was the first of Comic Titania's Backstory I heard and all I gotta say is why wouldn't they go with that? What would make them think what they did with Live Action Titania is a Step Up from the Comic Version? I know there's still Room in the Season to Genuinely address Jen's Faults, but honestly I'm not holding my breath.
@MasterDecoy1W2 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure (based on a perspective slightly above the layman) that Titania could not trademark She-Hulk. First, as a derivative of the Hulk, the trademark would probably default to whoever holds the Hulk trademark. Second, even if there were no Hulk to originate from, Jen is clearly the progenitor of the She-Hulk entity. Essentially, by merely existing under the identifiable moniker of "She-Hulk", she has trademarked her identity and image. See, while the legal system does have a lot of room for bullshit, it's often found in the minutiae of overlapping jurisdictions, old laws conflicting with new ones, or hastily written laws being overly broad. Simple stuff, like someone blatantly trying to steal your product or identity through legislative means, would not even make it out the door before being shot down by a judge.

Two *BIG* issues I can see, putting message as priority #1 with comedy/entertainment somewhere around 4-7, seemingly deliberately insulting 50% of people that would want to watch a comic based show, and yeah they really should walk across the hall to *DISNEY'S* lawyers for a consult on their courtroom scenes.

Modern writing these days is more about pushing an agenda than actually telling a good story a good writer even one that would be seen as mediocre knows a way to balance both or make the message subtle enough to be picked up on without overly focusing on it but modern writers do none of that. Superhero media has been seen for decades as a childish power fantasy and that method of thinking is even more exemplified by these holier-than-thou man-children and women-children who believe their opinions and fantasies are more important than making something that can not only be remembered but revered for years, ironically making them dated and easily forgotten.

For me its just the lack of growth, nearly every woman in cinema or in a TV show has the entire "perfect woman kit" which involves just being capable in everything with a side of sass I miss female characters that struggled at the beginning but learned throughout the way like everyone else, we all know She-Hulk is just a confident alternative to her human self, but they threw it out just to fit this new day and age

Almost every study shows that In the last 25 years, women have become far less happy as a gender. The writers try to channel this, but in doing so, they effectively tell on themselves and admit most female misery is self inflicted. Gurrrrl power!

Lyra (Hulk & Thundra's daughter from another Multiverse - which is already established in the MCU) was the one who challenged Jen to the title of She Hulk in the comic after Jen's given the moniker by some thugs she thwarts. She doesn't fight nearly enough bad guys in the show. I wish they'd let super heroes be super heroes & fight crime. We finally got a decent fight scene, & it wasn't even the title character. They introduce bits like changing the title card, but then don't do anything else with it. She Hulk was in so many teams. It could have been She Hulk in the City when she helped Lyra get settled in NY, which was one of the original pitches for Lyra's character in the comic, by the way. They could have riffed on whatever show they're parodying, like doing a Carrie VO. They could have done a Halloween episode with She Hulk in the Fearsome Four. Howard the Duck is in Universe & works in the same building as the law office in the comic. She Hulk gets her flying '59 Dodge with him, among other adventures. I mean, what else are they doing with the character? It's also the same law firm used by the TVA. Why not do something with that, since it's already established. She was a member of the Lady Liberators. Perfect little spin off story that could've paid homage to the comic. I don't know who Nikki is supposed to be, but that's not Pug. Pug was a bouncer who put himself through law school. He's a big dude who has a crush on Jen & even tries to ask her out but is beaten to the punch by John Jamison. You could even use the John from Rami's Spiderman 2. He still looks hot. & J. Jonah is already in the MCU. I guess Nikki is taking the place of Jazinda, a runaway Skrull, a race already established in the MCU. Why wouldn't they use Jaz? She has this great bit where when she gets scared, she inexplicably shifts her form to look like Jen. Lots of opportunities for comic misunderstandings. In the comic she's friends with the Blonde Phantom. It's with Louise "Weezie" Grant Mason, formerly a Golden Age superheroine, that she fights criminals like the Bong Man. You can't find anything funny in there guys? She's friends with Janet van Dyne, already in the MCU. Jen even fights Titania to avenge her supposed death. She was friends with Hellcat in later comics. Patricia "Trish" Walker is already in Jessica Jones & in prison where she could use a lawyer. Her teacher, Moondragon, is about to be in Guardians. Why not build up some buzz? Even if you can't use the character yet, you can make references to them & drop easter eggs. & where the hell is Awesome Andy. He gets his head ripped off trying to defend the law office from Titania in the comic. That's not even Mallory Book, “The Face who’s never lost a case." She's a completely different character & more of a foil & creates conflict. They don't seem to have used any of her relationships from the comics, which makes no sense. Titania's boyfriend the Absorbing Man, is already in the MCU in the Agents of SHIELD. Why is he not here? Why does Titania have no character? She should be an anti hero. In the comic, she tries to go straight & Jen helps her get a job as a security guard. She should be like Karen in Will & Grace & just be a way for you to get in funny one liners & insults. At the very least, we should know why she's a villain & what she was arrested for & why she got off & is just walking around bugging Jen for no reason. & they keep bragging about inclusion, but where's She Hulk's boyfriend Wyatt Wingfoot? He would be the first Indigenous superhero in the MCU. She also dated Luke Cage, already in the MCU, during the Heroes for Hire story line. Thunderball is best friends with Titania in the comics & is known as the black Tony Stark. Why would you change that? & why take away his silly giant indestructible ball? She dated Power Man after getting over dating an ex con in Heroes for Hire. Where's the running joke about always having car problems? Where's the running gag about everyone thinking she slept with Juggernaut, already in Deadpool, because an alternate reality She Hulk is in a loving relationship with him? She hits on Wolverine & he says he doesn't want Juggernaut's sloppy seconds. Imagine if they got Hugh to make a cameo. People would've lost their minds. & he's the kind of actor that would happily do it, even though it's for tv. Where's the story about her defending Starfox, (sigh) again, already in the MCU, from sexual assault? There's the cute bit about her thinking she'd been tricked into falling for him herself but it turns out she really just liked him. That's an amazing story with a nice O Henry twist. There's the story line where she gets tricked & gets disbarred & then becomes a bounty hunter. They could've riffed on She Hulk the Bounty Hunter. There's the story line where she signs the super hero registration act & is drafted into SHIELD, already in the MCU. They could've riffed on She Hulk & the Agents of SHIELD like a crossover episode. Where's the story line where she turns into grey Hulk at night & becomes a separate more brutish personality? Come to think of it, if they had really read the comic, they'd get that She Hulk lowers Jen's inhibitions. Where's her childhood friend Zapper, who she likes but doesn't date until She Hulk lowers her inhibitions about dating a younger man? Where's the story line where she gets stuck permanently as She Hulk after a huge dose of radiation, but it later turns out to be psychosomatic? Where's the Red She Hulk story line? Where's General Ross & the Red Hulk, for that matter? Where's the Totally Awesome Hulk, Amadeus Cho, who would be the first Korean superhero in the MCU? Inclusion my ass. Where are all the silly villains she fights in the comic, like Ringleader & the Headmen? She fights alongside Sentry in the comic. Middle-aged, overweight Bob Reynolds who doesn't remember he's a superhero & has to sacrifice himself to save the world from the Void. That's a great story! Jack of Hearts not only makes She Hulk go crazy, but he's a ridiculous character perfect for a comedy. You introduce Leap Frog, a Daredevil character by the way, & don't want to use his buddy Stilt Man? This show should have been more like the animated Harley Quinn & really lean into the bizarre & outragious secondary characters that they're not even using. I mean, you're gonna bring in Immortal Man & not put him in that ridiculous blue & red costume with the big white I on the chest? & why the hell would Immortal Man be old? It's right there in the name you dolts. There's no way these guys read the comic, let alone the Wiki.
