What I find super annoying is that 'growth mindset' does not mean 'be hyper focussed on constant growth'. I started a self-employed online tutoring endeavor for $9 (the cost of an online book subscription service). That business made me $750 a month for working exactly 6 hours per week. The generalizations that MLM reps say in their videos are out of control. I spent less and made more than most Monat reps. Real businesses with minimized risk, low start up costs, profit/loss statements and external customers are ALWAYS going to be a better investment than an MLM.

Aaaah I kept zoning out when that woman talked about growth mindset and I 100% agree that she's just repeating the same thing over and over again and when you think about what she says for a sec it absolutely makes no sense and is contradictory. "Have goals but here is why having goals is bad and you'll see that if you do that growth mindset thing you won't be reaching for your goals anymore" wait what? In French we have a saying for people who talk to say nothing and it is "brasser de l'air" and that literally means "to stir the air". That's exactly what she's doing.

I went to a free orchestra yesterday. Lasted about two hours. Obviously you're not supposed to look at your phone. I had this weird moment of feeling REALLY bad for all these people in MLMs because they probably can't go to the orchestra and not look at their phone. They probably have SO MUCH anxiety surrounding whether or not someone will message them. It's kinda unrelated but I really pity people who are so stressed about missing something on social media they can't actually enjoy a few hours of live music.

It speaks volumes of their lack of training and qualifications to work full-time as salespeople. The owners of legitimate businesses would NEVER try to promote their products or company ideals by setting up a camera with no plan and stumble their way through a two-minute video that's half filler words. If you don't actually know what you're selling, you shouldn't be selling it. Giant red flag.

There is an irony to the last Arbonne rep that has her Mac in clear view, while talking about how she gets everything from Arbonne…you didn’t get your computer from there…😂 Also, when I was in Arbonne, they told us in the team calls to be a product of the product and stock up on all the inventory for samples and giveaways and so we can talk about it or whip out a lipstick and then someone notice and we can sell them the opportunity or vip memberships….Oh, and I’m from the South, so that Arbonne rep from the South reminded me of home.

I have actually, after reading Atomic Habits, pretty much stopped goal setting. So often when we set an outcome based goal, it ultimately really isn’t in our control. Committing to working out 3-4 times a week is more likely to lead to sustained benefits than setting a goal of losing x pounds. Process, not end.

Ooh that’s an intriguing perspective, I like it!

@@HannahAlonzo if you ever get the opportunity to read the book, I highly recommend it. I don’t know that he offers anything astonishingly new or groundbreaking, but the way he synthesizes it and presents it all is IMHO very effective and made me go ‘wait….that’s exactly right!’ multiple times a chapter.

well... speaking about buying all products from 1 company in real world, I think about jonson and jonson for example. They produce different categories of products from contact lenses to baby food. Of course J&J not an MLM)

I gotta ask: how bad is Monat doing that they've been pushing how "cheap and easy" it is to join and how "weak and lazy" you are to ignore it more aggressively lately? Is that just me or anyone else notice that?

I'm telling you... Monat becomes a less and less desirable MLM to join each and every day
