I just saw your video about "restock" influencers and I totally agreed that single packed products and extra containers are adding to all to plastic we produce. So now I'm a bit disappointed to see that you're promoting Factor and Hello Fresh - services that are of course convenient but pretty bad from a sustainable point of view because of all the packaging and the fact that it's an extra delivery to your door step :( Love your anti-MLM content nevertheless! ❤

My dears, in my opinion you should not worry so much about this new trend that the rich people are promoting so badly, when their fleets of private jets and lavish life stiles are responsible for doing more damage in 1 year than the entire population of the planet in 13 years. We need to eat, don’t we?! A trip to the store or hello fresh is the same thing....

My sister has a small business selling handmade press on nails and we just went to a holiday craft event this weekend. The event organizers almost denied her because a Color Street hun had already signed up and they try to not have two people selling similar products. Luckily she got in, but it’s sad how they almost turned away a real small business owner in favor for of an MLM scammer

I sell Scentsy and do 2 regular events every month. The coordinators for both events have asked me if it was OK if they allowed other small business wax melts in, I told them to please include those other businesses because everyone sells something different. In some instances I directed people to their booth because they had scents that I didn't. I know I'm not the usual mlm rep, it's definitely frustrating to see the gross behavior that seems to be the norm.

It blows my mind that Huns spend their own money to be at these shows with MLM products. I work in the wedding and event industry as a business owner and the amount of people who pay money to join bridal fairs and open houses (sometimes like $1000) and don’t get even one bite from a customer is mind boggling. It makes me very sad.

It's almost insulting to be placed next to an MLM booth when we go to craft fairs! Not to mention one craft fair we were looking at was being planned and organized by a Paparazzi hun... the email address we had to use to communicate with her about the fair was her Paparazzi email address! 😭 Needless to say we didn't end up vending at that one. I can honestly say I’d never seen an mlm advent. In the yarn world, hand dyed yarn advents are a HUGE deal and they are expensive. But even they aren’t (normally) $300 bucks! And they usually are 24 days of “minis” and one full size skein, and come with patterns, stitch markers or other goodies. That’s the only advent I’d pay for! Oh and the wine one from aldi. Very true. I'm an aussie and My SIL got sucked into Younique (sorry spelling) and my older sister and I gathered soooo much evidence to show her it was an MLM scam. This was also back in 2016 so there was nowhere near as many videos available but we still had a bunch of info to show her it was not legit and she was going to lose all her money. My brother had no idea she put everything at the beginning on his credit card and oh my when he found out, he was beyond angry. The thing that my sister and I could not understand is why she just wouldn't even listen to us AND she has never known how to apply make up...like at all. We always did her make up for her on spesh occasions etc so it made no sense. She scammed soooo many of her friends who she doesn't understand why they stopped talking to her and are still not friends with her. It took about a year for her to realise she was in a hole and had SO much product that was sitting just going bad. I refused to buy anything from her as I stuck to my morals but my sister was nice and got some crappy eye shadows. I got mad at my sister cos she was enabling her but I can see why she wanted to support her. It's now the main thing we aren't allowed to talk about or bring up by her which I think is just ridiculous. Oh btw my SIL is probably one of the most selfish and entitled person I've ever met so it all made sense.

Australian here, I can see why mums do this. I was part of nutramedics for years, you can earn up to 40 thousand ( from memory that is ) and not pay tax as the gov classes these mlms as a hobby not as an income source. I only bought products for myself and my mum as I enjoyed them and we got a discount, never did any parties nor was I pushed to do them. I stopped buying because it got too expensive and I couldn’t no longer afford to buy a $25 bottle of shower wash.

Not if you have a couple of kids that will have to go into day care. That eats a big chunk of your pay, plus you don't get to spend that time with them every day. I can easily see why especially stay at home mothers or fathers would get into these "jobs" for the income. And if you live farther out from wherever the jobs are, all the more reason. Just being able to avoid having to get small children up and going very early in the morning, driving them to day care then driving to work, working, coming home and then wanting to spend time with the kids but still having things like dinner and laundry to tend to makes it worth it if you can make at least equal to minimum wage. Or even a bit less, since you wouldn't be bringing home minimum wage after child care anyway.

I've pretty much stopped going to craft shows and farmers markets. There is always too much MLM stuff in my area and it was hard for me in the past to not purchase products from people I knew because I also was a Hun for awhile. So the best thing for me is to not go. I might go to one or two shows a year but I now treat them like garage sales and antique stores in that it is okay to look and not buy. My favorite excuse is that I'm a minimalist or currently decluttering or using up the products I have but I will maybe keep them in mind when I would like to make a purchase in the future. Living in a small town, every one is either a Hun, a crafter or a baker. Well, I'm never going to be a Hun again, I like to do my own crafting and I like my own baking better than most people. 😆

We purchased some services from a home improvement company. They did a fantastic job and I had no complaints. It was strange to get an ornament from them with their company logo on it. When I saw the advent calendar and heard what you said about the ornament, your thoughts aligned with mine. Oh wow, an advertisement, on our tree. How... wonderful.
@SkwithOv
@SkwithOv 11 ай бұрын
so wait the calendar was $300, valued at $600, but the products inside are all 40% off the day they're opened?? so it's worth just over $300, and you could just buy the individual products on sale that you want instead for about the same amount (maybe plus shipping, idk how shipping works for that company)

The advent calendars are surely a win for the top of the pyramid. I don’t know how much a rep is making on a sale, but when they have 4-5 people in their downline it may already pays out. But of course, the company always makes the most.

The biggest artisan/craft fair in the state I live in has a strict no MLM policy, in fact most of the artisan fairs/holiday bazaars in my area don't allow MLMs to set up a booth. I know this because one of the MLM huns I happen to be friends with on FB is constantly complaining about how her booth applications for the big fairs and bazaars in the area always get rejected.

Don't feel bad. They make it look so nice with a pretty bow on top but honestly the system is very sadly using the people below them. In the past I've contemplated joining an MLM too because I thought they were a legit way to work from home and get a decent income. The people I knew who were a part of one were usually the sweetest people and it made the job look so fun and kind of easy. But the reality just does not match up. It's not your fault you were kind of duped. It happens to the best of people. Now you're out and that's great

Oh also, I run a small craft business… I try to avoid events that allow MLMs. It’s definitely hard to do but there are a few out there. What’s crazy is I’ll see posts saying “we are full on Scentsy, Papparazi, etc but we have space for Arbonne” or something along those lines.

If only mlmers put their passion and hard work into forming a skill or trade, they could legit follow most of their own advice and actually do something great! Art, content creation, freelance work for countless skills--the options these days are endless! And they legit DO give you satisfaction in yourself and your work. You can start from nothing and work to make something of yourself, all without a soulless, toxic company.

The first one clearly fell for the "you can work AND stay at home with your babies" BS The second one has major social anxiety and further had guilt that she relies financially on her husband because of it, so the first woman sold her on her downline with the promise of working from home while still being able to connect with woman worldwide So sad

I've pretty much stopped going to craft fairs or Christmas bazaars when there is one around me. There are a few vendors who make their products, or are truly small local business but most are MLM reps. It's disappointing to go thinking I might find some unique gift only to see mostly tables filled with what you can tell are MLM products.

I own a gift boutique but got my small business started as an artisan jewelrymaker doing craft and vendor shows. Most craft shows will allow one of each MLM vendor. I've been set up near Paparazzi and guesssss whoooo these customers are going to buy from? $5 necklace vs $20+? Yeah. I never did well at shows when Paparazzi was near me. I have made friends with a Red Aspen girl who is chill as hell though, so that's cool

Yes, there was a whole closet I kept all my extra stuff in and that was what I pulled from for gifts every year. And we held an annual "Christmas Expo" when you could invite your customers and former downline to buy products to give away for Christmas. It was a great way to get customers or IBOs who are inactive reengaged by inviting them to the event.

I live in Western PA and it has gotten so bad that unless a craft show specifically states “handmade items only”, I do not give them the time of day. I love craft shows or holiday markets as they are sometimes called in the area, but absolutely REFUSE to set foot in one that advertises as having “vendors.” That’s a dead giveaway they allow MLM companies to promote their products.

Christmas craft fairs here (Nova Scotia, Canada) are full of mlm reps. The craft fairs call them 'vendors' or 'direct sellers'. I used to sell at craft fairs (things I actually made, not mlm stuff) and it was hard to find shows that were for actual crafters only. I also saw an ad for a craft fair last year where almost all of the listed sellers were different mlms.
