It is interesting that now that Arn is in possession of a _kin-blade,_ he is in a situation similar to that of Edbert (season 1). If they ever get together again, he could show some compassion towards his former companion.

Well, well, well. Don't forget that 'Irsia the Forester' stole the Spear of Vislidi in order to cure an ill. She believed (according to Trevor Devall) that the spear has "mystical powers to heal." Perhaps Arn has something that will help heal the Frostmoor Palsy that the alchemists and medicine men did not, ….namely Ulvatan! [Note: I think the herb he has been using during these adventures is "Helbredelse," which in Norwegian means "Healing"].

I can understand why Arne was regretting leaving the South - he had to change from Savage Worlds to the more deadly Ironsworn rules and then wanders into the fantasy equivalent of Covid-19. Perhaps he should be known as Arne the Extremely Unlucky. All the best, Trevor and fellow viewers!
@samsolitaryroll Жыл бұрын
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I see Ironsworn as a narrative driven system, so the deadliness of the world is basically how the player wants it to be, right? Plus the whim of the dices of course.
@Stephen-Fox Жыл бұрын
@@samsolitaryroll Varies heavily from system to system. Sticking with PbtA which Ironsworn is a variant of, some games don't really have a concept of mortality for the characters (instead getting their dramatic tension from elsewhere), others have a moderate fatality rate, comparable to your typical non-narrative games, and some have a sense of disposibility to characters normally reserved for CoC one-shots. The one caveat is that narrative systems sometimes allow the player to choose if their character is killed outright or is otherwise permanently removed from play, while trad games don't usually do that (but those are usually treated with the same weight and the one that doesn't quite treat them with the same narrative/mechanical weight I've seen bribes players towards having their characters die)

Hey, I’m loving the series! Quick question: you mentioned in an even older video that you were going to play ironsworn without supplements, did this hold true? Are there additional sources you look towards when playing?
@Rurtanar Жыл бұрын
I think he uses Ironsworn with some Ironsworn-specific supplement (delve and something else), as well as a namelist not from ironsworn. It gives this season so far a more consistent feel, but I also enjoyed the sometimes crazy results in the first season, where he basically threw everything together from many different sources (I mean, a mummified badger? Huh?)

It's a bit weird that the elven weaponsmith ask of Arne to do the ritual with the hammer and all of that and this human blacksmith from the middle of nowhere just did it for a few coins. I was led to think that, because the spear is a legendary weapon, not anyone could reforge it. (Even though I remember on a previous episode you stablished with a roll that nothing special was necessary to finish the spear). Anyways, I love the show.
@danj11013 жыл бұрын
His roll at the elf blacksmith did indicate (eventually) that the fix wasn't complicated, just that something stood in the way, which happened to be the blacksmith's visions of doom. Those made him unable to complete the work. So, I think it tracks, because the elf smith could've done it...in theory!

Trevor can you help me with some advice? I recently ran a solo session for my character and ran into this problem. My character, an indentured criminal for the next 3 months, was approached by a man involved in a crime. I randomly rolled on the event meaning in the Mythic gm Emulator and got postpone / lies. I read this as The man wants my character to appear innocent to another man who was involved in the same crime and have my character ask him questions. The nature of these questions were also randomly rolled against the subject chart also in the Mythic gm book (to which I was quite satisfied) The questions were about a military unit failing in battle because someone unsuccessfully used witchcraft to attempt to aid them. It was obviously a disaster and now this man who has requisitioned my character (so to speak) wants to cover his own tracks in relation to this crime (both men are involved of course) After escorting my character (Naylor) back to his work site he gave him a small object left and came back with guards attempting to frame him for the crime. My only problem is this.... I don't see the logic of having Naylor ask the questions about the crime. The scene is over but I want to know what you think. That's the only thing I don't like about this scene. Naylor asking the questions doesn't make sense. Can you help me? Your biggest fan, John (I know. My real name is Roman but im not ready to have my name all over KZbin yet)
