It just occurred to me that Carlos may be related to the captain of the ship. Perhaps a cruel parent has him always chasing approval, but never finding what feels like love. That would fit the oracle result AND make him a better bargaining chip, raising the stakes of the negotiation.

Man, I love Edbert. I absolutely love how he’s just a bit unstable. It’s a level that doesn’t completely impair his decision-making, but just enough to steer him in some interesting directions. And, the voice Trevor uses for him is perfection. Edbert is honestly one of my favorite fictional characters that I’ve watched/read about in quite a while.

I have my parents visiting from Ireland. I haven't seen them in two years. It's our last night together. I almost ditched them for the premiere but I am a dutiful son. Though not an attentive one! During the evening, I caught myself, on more than one occasion, wondering if in this episode I'd find out who the pirate was, what dangers the jungle possessed and if Sherilyn would show up. I hope the Aos Sí won't punish me for my secret hoping they'd go to bed soon so I could see if those questions would be answered!

Edbert is such a great contrast to the other two protagonists, I swear. Simon and Arn would have just talked their way out of the conflicts with no violence. But Edbert just gets what he wants by any means necessary. Brilliant.

What if Carlos were a cartographer in a port city (hence his ability to become a navigator), betrothed to his beloved Henrietta who unexpectedly breaks their engagement and leaves him (hence his quest to contemplate and understand love). In his sorrow Carlos becomes inebriated at a dock-side bar and kills a man in a horrific confrontation. To flee he stows away on the pirate ship, to be discovered only when the ship is far out to sea. The captain is tempted to kill Carlos, but he discovers Carlos’ navigation skills and allows him to live, eventually giving him an important role on the crew. Carlos has left his home forever (so he thinks), but his question about love still haunts him and is calling him home again…

Also, we'll have to make sure Carlos doesn't start sounding like Arne. It could get confusing, lol... :P Awesome episode yet again though. And nice addition of the poison on the island. :)

Very good. Correct me if I am wrong, but you rolled two 8s on an 8 or under roll, which means that you got the best possible scores for those rolls (if I remember how Dominion rules work). You didn't mention it explicitly but did this give Edbert additional advantage? Look forward to the next show!

Not additional advantage, but technically, in the case of the Stealth roll, if it was a round-by-round case, the pirates couldn’t have beaten him (their Alertness was only 5). I didn’t handle it exactly that way though - I wanted to give them a shot at seeing him before he saw them.

I was expecting the random encounter to be a volcano explosion or at least a geyser. Missed opportunity to roll for Carlos' sexuality, but now it's set in stone he could either be asexual or be in love with the captain. But I love that you didn't waste time and had the search party catch up to them quickly in the narrative, although they probably would have fallen into the poison acid pool thing.
