Modern Warfare 3 Has a Grinding Problem

and that armory system. yea it was a cool feature when the game first launched because you could unlock things early (including max lv attachments like 50 or 100 round mags) but now that ive gotten everything from the base game, its completely useless. none of the seasonal stuff can be unlocked in there (not even attachments)

If you go to the gunsmith, you can select most attachments to become armoury unlock challenges that only require 2 daily challenges.

@bluesides8323 that's the problem. I've finished all the base weapons. All the unlocks are done for the attachments. The only attachments left are from seasonal weapons, they don't allow the armoury unlock system.

It shouldnt take me more than a few hundred kills to level up a gun. And yet, i have to play 5+ hours to get a single gun up to lvl 20.

I don’t think Battle Passes suck, CoD’s Battle Passes suck. Fortnite and Apex BPs are based on performance, as well as challenges every week to boost progression. Also the rewards in CoD are never worth it. They’re all pretty boring.

I think there's everything mentioned in the video, ontop of very uninspired presentation... We used to get a whole quartermaster character and seperate menu for this stuff(which looked like locked cards). Now the armory unlocks are just another bar menu, you don't spend tokend on them(it's automatic as long as one is selected or others are in queue)... Also completely agree with the battle pass and player levels being combined at this point. Fortnite's been doing it for so long and it makes so much sense

At least to me, weekly events and challenges are another annoying tier to the grind when you're trying to grind MWII weapons that are NEVER recommended. Seriously I don't think they've EVER changed the recommended weapons around since launch. The overcrowding of MWII and MWIII weapons (and attachments ESPECIALLY) has never felt so pointless when the MWIII weapons and upgrades are almost always better. It was funny cheesing people who had barebones MWIII guns with my fully kitted Kastov but now there's little to no incentive to pick most of these guns up again...

Such a great breakdown. Let's be honest though, unfortunately the rut we've found ourselves in is exactly what a good portion of the community has begged for: Call of Duty is no longer about fun, it's about hooking yourself up to a dopamine drip where you're constantly grinding toward unlocking something every day. And hey, if they get you to log in to the game and shove ads for the store in your face, there's a 50-50 shot you'll 'at least' visit the store. This is what the corporation wants. This is what Call of Duty has become.

Your idea for tokens earned by leveling up is similar to Cold Wars Prestige Shop. Every 50 levels you got a Prestige Key, and you could use to unlock calling cards and emblems from previous games Prestige. I like the sound of your idea more than what they're doing now

Other than getting the points I spent back, there’s no reason for the battle pass. After about 50-70% completed, I got everything I wanted including the points. Your solution seems like the less complicated way to play MW3

Yes I’m also experiencing battlepass fatigue. So much so, I only play one game that has one. I had to leave apex and halo to play cod. It just feels like work and isn’t fun. I do like the new cod map version then I can pick what I want and then whatever happens happens if the level 100 rewards is 💩. I do mostly enjoy the grind of mw3. I’m in the middle of finishing all my gold MP camos and it seems much easier than mw2019 and mw2. I didn’t bother with Cold War because blood thirsty 5 kills without dying 10/20x for every single weapon is boring and the zombie camos looked better anyway 😂 . So I’m enjoying the camo grind overall in mw3. Not hard but not the easiest thing to do. But easy enough to play casually and have fun.

Great point on the spray paint and emote. I stopped buying battlepass I don’t use any of them and the skins suck more as seasons go by. Here is how you fix it. Set grinding to objectives. Not sliding kills but captures or bomb plants. How about defends vs recommended marksman tacstance kills. Wins in modes vs flashbang effect kills. Additionally objective points reward score streaks vs kill streaks which promotes bad behavior and a snowballing effect. Look at all the early quitting that happens in half my games. Potentially get rid of kd or allow filters for player to have an objective eomm stat that restrict those that fail to ptfo. Shadowban them to their own grouping of shitbags. COD is toxic and racist in chat rooms. DMZ is an example of toxic behavior once you finish all the missions ppl camp out the challenges or expulsion. There is no antisnowball. They should become AI hunted harder and harder the more players they kill. After so many tag the team for the whole lobby to target. Shadow ban to completed lobbies those that are not trying to complete missions and show behavior that’s pure player hunting. The new player are punished by one slot then hunted and now no insured for an hour. Once you get the second unlock the game is much easier and dying is less harsh. 3 weapon slots who cares about dying in DMZ. COD has way too much snowballing by its design. I would like to see a BR with no loadouts maybe only blueprints from the store or a buy station.

I agree. The skins is useless and isn't worth obtaining anymore because you can not put different attachments on them. So what's the point in obtaining skins? Also having to use different weapons to unlock the attachments for the weapon you want to use? Why the hell is that? They had the system correct. You get 25 head shots unlocks a attachment for that weapon. Having to use different weapons to unlock attachments makes no sense. There's definitely room for improvement. As far as hackers. They are doing a good job on that from what I see in (DMZ). I play more DMZ then warzone. Mainly small maps. Askika Island mainly. Probably 4 hackers out of 7 days of 4 hrs a day grinding. Compared to when I quit warzone for a while at the beggening of Caldera. It's a hell of an improvement. Got to give credit when credit is do. That doesn't mean it will always get better. It's a game of cat and mouse. Hopefully one day it will be shut down for good.

I agree kinda with the battle pass thing, but I've experienced challenge based BPs, and XP is just a better system, no matter how boring it is. Also I did that 68.9 hours and I have a 40 hour work week. Its really not that bad Also. That's not gonna happen because........ money

This game has the easiest level system I’ve ever played. I have every single thing unlocked and every camel done and I have a 40 week hour week job. My only complaint is too many attachments.

IW fell off once mark rubin left. Thank god he’s developing xdefiant. It will be the go to FPS shooter for a long time given it’s free to play and he wants a “for the long haul” type of game that’ll last a long time. So the grind will be worth it since you don’t need to repurchase the game every year like COD just to get reset and regrind for the game to get full in 2 months because they drip feed content.

i really dislike the new way event camos are unlocked, much prefer the challenges from mw2 than grinding levels with no particular challenge...imo it makes the grind feel soulless and boring the only good thing is i can grind it while playing with my friends :/
