Man, the F-15 is such a beast. Beating an R-77-1 from so close is just plain nutty. If you hadn't dropped your tanks when you did, that thing would probably have converted your pretty jet into randomly sized chunks of high quality aluminum.

F-15X was a concept with two different implementations: F-15CX and F-15EX. The EX is being procured while the CX is not.

Well the CX you're referring to is just called the X. Though yes, it is based on the C model. The X is being procured by several nations. It was put together by Boeing as an updated C, and a "last call" for orders before the production line ends. The EX is the USAF saying "hey, could you do all those upgrades to an E model?", because the USAF is more interested in keeping the strike eagle around (indefinitely, and for reasons much like why they keep the B-52 around), while slowly retiring the C's.

Growing up near Eglin and Pensacola NAS, I've seen the F15s offshore track across the sky off in the distance, breaking sound barrier, and looks much faster than seems to be portrayed when you're running cold from missles. Those damn F15s are incredibly fast. Truly dig these vids btw, I've watched every one for a couple years now.

There actually was a single seat Advanced Eagle in the works called the F-15CX. It was scrapped as Boeing wanted to save costs by doing only the two seat EX

Boeing never built single-seater Eagles (that production line was shut down when they acquired McDonnell Douglas in 1997), so they would have to start a production line from scratch. So yeah, way cheaper to use the existing Strike Eagle production line to make EXs.

They need to incorporate some kind of RCS booster in the tanks so when you drop them they appear to be a bigger target than your fighter.

A large capacitor, signal processor, and cavity magnetron at the back of the tank, and the skin of the tank can be the antenna. When you jettison the tanks, the RWR tells the processor in the tank what freq the missile was using and the strength of the signal. The processor tells the magnetron to radiate on that freq and at, say, 80-90% strength. You don’t want too high a strength because the missile’s signal processor would know the return is always weaker than the transmitted signal.
