Have the same glue and recently took a precision piecing class and we used Elmer’s Clear Washable Glue and it worked just as well once set with an iron. Glue definitely has its purpose.

I bought one of those and did not use it much. But I watched a lot of piece and quilt and bought her 4 and 1 ruler and use it all the time. I also have the sway ruler by piece N quilt. It comes in 3 sizes. I use all 3 sizes.

I've seen a lot of the patterns used with the Pounce Powder but never thought about making my own with needle punched paper, nice idea. I like to use Elmer's glue stick for holding pieces together and holding my mitered corners on binding then I press to dry. I stock up with school supply sales. Have a great week. 😊

Another great video. Like others have stated, I set the glue with an iron and I especially like it when bringing my binding corners around to be sewn down. The glue works great to hold the corners while sewing.

Good morning! You can also heat set the glue if you want to speed up the process. I’ve done it both ways.

Hi Sherry good evening from down under, sitting by a lovely warm fire. I have used that chalk technique before works great, i also did one withe the design drawn on paper pinned it on quilt then sewed around the drawings, worked well.

I use the glue for sew and flips. No need to “let it dry”. I glue and sew, glue and sew etc. it holds well enough for me to sew.

Instead of leaving overnight you can set the glue with your iron then sew, press back and cut maybe quicker can do alot on same day. I have been contemplating the acorn glue, at present I use school glue sticks

Great tips! I just made the glueing the last task for the day, that way I could leave out the ironing step. I like glue sticks too, but it pulled the tiny fabric pieces a little too much for my liking. Maybe I’m too aggressive with it 😆

I think you have to think about the glue as a tool for when your piecing needs to be very precise, but certainly not needed otherwise. I do keep some handy for fiddly bits. Some people just press it dry rather than waiting overnight. RE FQs, I prefer small fat quarter bundles. The big ones are expensive, have way too much left over, and way too many pieces I just don’t like or aren’t the right value for my project so I have to get something else anyway. If I use a bundle, I typically try to start with a small bundle (4-12) and add yardage from my stash to supplement. I often use 1 yard or even half yard pieces as key accents. You just have to be willing to coordinate the fabrics for your quilts yourself instead of letting the designers do it for you. I enjoy that process. I do find that I typically buy half yards instead of fat quarters because I have more flexibility and that is the minimum cut for some online shops. I can cut enough 10 inch squares or 2.5 in strips out of 5-10 fabrics to use in a quilt designed for precuts to make a quilt look planned and coordinated. I consider my fabric cabinet my “palette”. The biggest challenge is buying colors that aren’t your favorites (purple and brown, I’m looking at you!) and those duller fabrics that aren’t gorgeous in their own right, but that make your other fabric sing. But if you want everything to be coordinated for you, precut bundles is definitely the way to go!

I'm behind on watching my videos. I took a vacation day from work today, my husband is out of town for several days, so I plan on starting and finishing some quilt tops before he gets back home. I have two projects I want to complete. That's about all my little brain can handle at one time. 🤣

Good morning ☕ I also have a lot of FQ that I have no idea what to do with but as I'm sitting here this Wednesday morning I've been thinking the Letters Home with Anne of Green Gables fabric Quilt blocks are a bit too ambitious for me, my new thought is maybe Sun Bonnet Sue and Overall Sam blocks out of the FQ then with the yardage maybe blocks of hour glass? I haven't decided.

It’s interesting how everyone’s view of levels of difficulty will vary. I would find the Sun Bonnet Sue blocks way more challenging than the pieced Letters Home. Your idea sounds adorable 🥰

Love sally Kelly from Windham that’s a very nice bundle. I’ve only bought yardage and only for an intended purpose thankfully I haven’t got sucked in to pre cuts I just don’t see the financial value for the price verses how much you actually get .
