I have the Go Me AccuQuilt cutter and a few dies that I use for my scraps. I keep a clear shoe box with a label to keep organized. Handy.

Once my scraps get to a certain small size, I put them into a dog bed casing that I keep next to my sewing table. Once full, I take the pillow of scraps to local dog/cat shelter for the animals to use or to go home with pet once adopted.

Because I’m a scrappy quilter, when I saw anyone say that they are sick of scraps..😳😳 I have heard quilters say “ let’s see how many quilt tops I can made with all these scraps!” I see scraps as $$$$. And if you sat down with me and sewed “crumb” blocks..my way, you and I would have so much fun..you wouldn’t want to stop😂 I have never had so much enjoyment...mindlessly, listening to a book and sewing Crumb quilts❤❤ guess I’m just an old traditional quilter who has never made a “modern” quilt pattern. I Never buy patterns and 90% of my fabric comes from quilters estate sales.. so..I can sew for the rest of my life making beautiful quilts..cheap and scrappy❤So I say “ keep those scraps”, if prices of fabrics keep going up, I don’t know how so many quilters can keep buying! I do enjoy scrap quilting of all types, but I don’t want my channel focusing only on scrap quilting. I can better use the room I have for a wider variety of quilting styles and thus have a variety of video content that appeals to a wide range of quilters.

I have "Scrap Sunday" . I cut up my weekly scraps - 30 to 60 minutes - into 2" 2.5" 5" 10" and 2.5" strips.

Sheri, what a coincidence! The two totes that you showed on today’s video are made from the same fabric that I have used for different projects. The lighter one I used for a zippy pouch and the darker green I used for valences in my bedroom, along with a summer whole quilt that I’m making for my bed and a Baker Street Bag with one of Sara Lawson’s bag patterns from Sew Sweetness.

Every Sunday I try to spend an hour or two working on processing my scraps. A person challenge of sorts it helps keep me on top of Mt Scrapmore!

Every three/four months I make a baby/charity quilt out of scraps. A Coin quilt or a String Quilt etc. Helps to get rid of some scraps. I want to make a Pat Sloan 5”squares Star Quilt.

The 4” squares can be sewn together for charity quilts. That’s a fast project. Made switch smaller squares (3-1/2”) could be made into mats for the dog/cat kennels at the Humane Society.

I have been making 4-up HST out of squares cause I seem to use a lot and agree with selling I have bought 5” sq online. You are so organized 😊

Best way to dispose of scraps is to make simple scrap quilts to give away, and if you'd rather start new projects, then sell or give away the scraps.

I have at least 3 garbage bags of scraps. I am thinking of doing gallon bags of the scraps and donate to a thrift store where I have bought fabrics and scraps from before.

I thought I was going to cut my scraps into usable shapes and decided instead to just keep anything under a quarter yard together. I don't mind cutting needed pieces off those so and happy with them not cut down. But I have decided I am going to divided them up by warm, cool and neutrals since that is how I seem to be using them. Now for deciding how to store them.

I have yet to figure out the best way to cut, organize and store my scraps. I have reworked the system a few times and I'm sure I will again. Sometimes we have to figure out what doesn't work to know what does.

I use 4.5” because they match with 2.5” and 6.5” and in 8 and 12” squares (8 inch 4 patches and 12” 9 patches. I don’t ever use 5” pieces without cutting them down, so I don’t cut or buy 5” squares anymore.

Fairy Frost makes two types of the fabric. One has glitter and the other does not have glitter. I have used the non glitter Fairy Frost. It is lovely. It is soft with a frost shine, no glitter. I had both and did not like the glittery one either. It came off the fabrics.

A lot of people have fabric scrap listings, believe it or not. Some are just wads in a bag or box. It may come to that with what I have left 😅
