This vid what i needed as i keep seeing the six figures vids on tech. Getting your foot in the door is something most recent grads won't do on 2023. Smh

can't relate to this more. A downgrade in skills/responsibilities in a job where you aren't really learning just is not worth it. I actually recently got fired from a QA job that contributed very little to my career growth. only bad part is the loss of the income, but otherwise, it was sort of a blessing in disguise. but at least I feel back on track to become a developer since ive been working on projects while on the job hunt on again

I'm sorry to hear about that, but I'm glad that it's given you an opportunity to focus-in on roles that are likely going to offer the most growth.

Congratulations on defending your boundaries. It takes courage to resist pressure to down skill. Others buckle to the pressure and lead a miserable life.

Hi Moss, I am new to tech and have just started learning Devops. Can you please recommend me how can I get internships in Devops domain? Can open source help?

Hello! Open source work can definitely help if you are already involved in an open source project. Having a portfolio of work that demonstrates your knowledge will help you get an internship. If you are in college looking for an internship, the primary thing you will need to lean on are school projects, personal projects (such as setting up a homelab running an application you deployed via kubernetes, for example), and as you mentioned, open source is definitely helpful. Most tools offer a RESTful API, and it is common for developers to produce an open source client library for interacting with that API programmatically. To give you an example, Slack has a Python client library through which you can write programs that might post messages automatically based on the results of a jenkins build. Contributing to a open source codebase like this, or an even bigger open source project like Prometheus or Docker are very helpful in building a strong portfolio.
