Great content. Being self taught is a true hobby, not meant for people who only do well in school settings where they need assignments, curriculum and lists of what to learn. I completed a 4 month bootcamp in Feb 2022. Had my on-site interview with Google in the summer of 2022 with 3 of my classmates getting offers from Google for the “early career” role. The hiring freeze began the week I was set to get my score results 🙄been applying with no luck but videos like this help to keep me motivated to apply and network more🔥

I'm sorry to hear about the misfortune you had with Google. I appreciate the kind words and I hope that you find a role soon! Networking can be really powerful if you happen to talk to the right folks.

This is the type of video I have been looking for. Straight, no chaser. I am a career changer who so far is loving learning to program. It’s rewarding and I want to do it for a living. I have no delusions how hard it will be to transition. The company I work for, luckily has a roadmap for internal employees to transition to their IT or data analytics departments. I would encourage anyone to get into a company and excel at whatever role you are hired in, network internally and try to transition to data or IT internally. It’s so hard to get hired right off the street these days. I am also purses masters in CS. Good luck to anyone else who is trying.

That's what I love too, a pity only the smaller channels are straight and to the point and still deliver great content.

Wish this video was out before i did a bootcamp. These things are unfortunately JUST big business. No job guarantee AND they lie about how fast you can find a coding job without a degree. I could have spent the money on an associates degree. Smh.

I'm sorry to hear you had this experience, but I appreciate you sharing it. It's important to hear directly from people who have 1st hand experience with bootcamps. I hope though that you are currently still moving forward and not letting this discourage you. I've had a lot of setbacks, but the setbacks end up creating a unique path that almost always works out.

Yes I'm the experienced developer that went to a bootcamp and didn't understand the scam they are for most people at the time

People often talk about "hey my friend got a 80k, 90k, 100k developer job for studying _x_ amount", does no one think about the amount of people get paid that much is so few? Like 2 person in a class of 30 people maybe

All these influencers are just trying to sell a bootcamp program to make a nice commission.

I've been self learning for 1 year and I don't see how people can do it in a few months. It is hard.

I’m 6 months into coding and cs. I love it. It’s hard but gives me a reason to keep going. Thanks for your advice and sharing your thoughts! How would one go about outsourcing jobs to create an app? Just curious what you think? Have a great day!!

I'm glad you're enjoying it! I think you could find dev teams via sites like www.fiverr.com/ or www.upwork.com/. Outsourcing can be pretty challenging though, especially if you're working with a team that's in a timezone far from yours.

Your best best... find somewhere to work that is very supportive and actually requires your continued development. What I am suggesting here is very rare, but a company that has a program established for recent grads. They do exist... I lead the effort in one of our practices.

Can you make a video updating how you interview for jobs has changed and a new structure since now you tried applying yourself and couldn't make it even with 500+ applications?

Thanks for the video suggesting. Yeah I do think this could be a good follow-up topic.
