I grew up in Greece and I never even knew there were seals in the our waters until a few years ago. One of my uncles retired to Evia and there's a cave system near his house. The seals hang out on the rocks on the cliffside all the time and it's in perfect view of their garden. He's got terabytes of seal videos at this point. The babies are the cutest thing I've ever seen.

This is heartbreaking, I don't understand why it is so hard to create larger sanctuaries for the Monk seal! Please let us do more for them!!!

It requires international cooperation and stable governments. Example in America Obama set aside a fair amount of sea area as sancutaries, while Trump came along and repealed, sold or leased more public lands than all other POTUS combined.

@@purplehaze8557 Each country only owns 12 miles from the shoreline. That means without international cooperation there are no meaningful regulations to protect the whales. Currently there are more whales killed by ship strikes than when Whaling was banned in 1985 via, now keep up here, international agreement. Right Whales, via this nifty thing called math, are killed by ships at a rate exceeding birth rate, so in 30 years they go extinct. Now I'm not sure what you think is bad about a stable government, but your post is easily the dumbest thing I read all week and in the age of Trumpism, that's pretty hard to achieve. Libraries are free, you might want ot visit one some day so you're not so damned embarrasing.

Views don’t count unless people watch the whole video and it’s too distressing and overwhelming to see because we know only leaders can fix this and they don’t care and won’t until a party gets a group of people says “we won’t vote for you because you promised us you would fix this and you did nothing.” Each party has such slim margins now they need the votes. Trump rolled back regulations and made some horrible decisions. Allowing hibernating bears to be dragged out of their dens along with their cubs to be shot for sport is the least of them. Biden never met a fat envelope he didn’t like. They lie about policy. Unless people say we will not vote for you and you will lose because you are not supporting your policy you ran on to stop climate change from getting worse, it will never happen. It’s way too late to turn it back. Green Party has few viable candidates and little money. Unless we get money out of politics there’s nothing we can do.

That’s a very cool experience! But yes, monk seals are very shy, easily stressed out animals, especially when they’re out on dry land. Unfortunately, when people see them on land, they often treat the seal like a theme park attraction, running over to crowd around it, gawk at it, take close up photos, bring their barking dogs along too, or will even try to touch the seal, which causes it to panic and flee into the ocean to get away. Those people need to be better educated about being respectful towards nature.

Very true monk seals are on the brink of Extinction even in the Hawaiian Islands I've seen a few monk seals relaxing on Waikiki Beach enjoying the sun ! The monk seals are protected by federal government and state government and the Department of land and Natural Resources in Hawaii 🤙🏼

Humans are overpopulated. That is the reason all these animals are dying out. The human population needs to drop down by a few billion. But what is a humane way to go about it? I would think that making sterilization more accessible to women would be good. And insurance should pay for it. So many women are turned down when they seek hysterectomies. Pushing for more adoptions and less births. So that way children without homes can survive and have a good life. Making incentives available for childfree couples. Make schools teach the danger of overpopulation which, our population is now at 7.9 Billion. Teach kids that they don't have to have kids to be happy in life. Being childfree is more rewarding.

I thought that the modern supporting of LGBTQ (supporting gay relationships and treating them humanely) helps both with overpopulation and human morality. Plus, straight people will never stop existing, but at least this is one way to go about this.. But yeah, there’s no easy answer to this. If only Dinosaurs could magically reappear. Haha

Earth belongs to humans because we have the power to push other animals out. If they were stronger than us, they would be doing the same to us and not batting an eye.
@calebj8134 Жыл бұрын
Now what are we going to do when we are left with nothing on the earth to eat and sustain our large populations. We can’t eat air. We need nature and in turn we should take care of it. There is no owner of earth. We all share a common planet and all things deserve to be treated with respect. Including animals
