You should try nat dex monotype! I’ve recently gotten into it and it has definitely been interesting. Megas, Z-moves, more pokemon and items really spruces stuff up.

Psychic is my favourite but I'm only capable of balance Tapu Lele builds, everything else comes up short. It's always Victini, Lele, Slowking-G and Slowbro. The last two slots are up for grabs: it's usually Latias and/or Latios but I've had success with Weakness Policy Automise Necrozma, Indeedee, Jirachi and Mew. As long as Lele is Specs and Victini is Scarf I have beaten Dark, due to the insane power of Moonblast and the fact nothing isn't weak to it aside from Bisharp which still dies. I should try Sash Alakazam, I really like the idea of Thunder Waving a potentially huge threat especially if I Band Victini!

Guys I second the recommendation to check out Tesla's KZbin channel. He's crazy good. I got a lot better at monotype from watching his videos and being on his Discord and talking to him and others there. Also just to clarify since Nathan couldn't remember, I did battle him a few times on ladder but I didn't enter Tesla's tournament so we didn't battle there. If there was any mono-Electric player who gave you a hard time during the tourney, it wasn't me! lol

A way to think about the way a terrain boosts and nerfs stuff: If the terrain BOOSTS something, for example Electric Terrain, then the ATTACKER matters. So if a Rotom-Wash clicks Volt Switch, that won't be boosted because of Levitate. Zapdos, same thing. Whether the opponent is on or off the ground is irrelevant (except with Rising Voltage, but that's its own thing) This is also why your Latios' Psyshock didn't do as much as you expected, it doesn't get the boost because of its own Levitate. If the terrain NERFS something, like dragon-moves in Misty Terrain, the the DEFENDER matters. Anything grounded will take less damage from dragon-types, but for example Latios, a mon you'd probably want to take less from dragon-moves, doesn't get it due to Levitate. Whether the attacker is on or off the ground is irrelevant. This also applies to priority moves in Psychic terrain, btw. If the defender is off the ground, priority moves still work on them, regardless of if the attacker is grounded or not. Probably did not help that much but I tried lol.

Mono Psychic is gonna have a much better time Vs ghost types once Gen 9 comes out, assuming Wyrdeer makes it in like H-Zoarark did. Wyrdeer, Farigiraf, and both of their preevolutions holding an eviolite will give mono psychic at least 4 more (hopefully) decent counters to Ghosts.

the truth is that to a certain extent gen 7 mono psychic is kind of mediocre; all told, barely better than mono bug with its few immunities, poor role variation in moveset/speed tiers, and poor hazard control. There is no true S+ tier psychic pokémon with a busted ability/moves like Rillaboom, Dracopult, Toxapex, Ursifu. You can only run focus blast, expanding force, and energy ball on every pkmn so many times before you start wondering why mono fighting uses cross chop. However, National Dex Mono Psychic is much much better with the help of Hidden Powers, Mega Alakazam/Lati@s/Medicham/Metagross, and Z-Celebrate Jirachi/Victini/Meloetta.
