Monongahela Incline, Pittsburgh - 2014 HD

Monongahela Incline is the oldest and the steepest incline in the U.S and is considered the pride of Pittsburgh. Built in 1870, it has operated continuously for 144 years and is still going strong. It is also called the "Mon Incline" by locals. The ride lasts about a minute and half one way. This is a popular tourist activity and is ranked one of the top 10 things to in Pittsburgh. Unlike the Duquesne incline, the Monongahela has a three storied seating arrangement. I recommend that you sit at the top level while going up and at the bottom level while going down.

A very nice video with interesting camera work. In our town there is also such a train, but slightly smaller. The train has not machines. The water tank of the respective upper wagons being filled. With this preponderance of the wagon moves down and pulling on a rope over a guide roller to the lower car to the top. A simple but interesting technique. Thumbs up for the alley and for your video. I lived up on Mt. Washington, and would take the ride down to Carson St. to visit all the bars. Threw up on the ride back up a time or two. Lol
