One of the traditional mooncake fillings is 五仁 (literally "five nuts") which contains a mixture of nuts, dried fruits, and candied peels. You can use whatever filling you like. Let your creativity run wild!

I tried it before but I'm sure that this homemade is much better. Didn't know it takes all these steps tho. I like the one with the red beans but I have to try this again. I wish the crust/texture is a bit flakey tho. or if it gets browned/cooked a bit longer so it doesn't taste raw. Reminds me of a middle eastern cookie, Maamoul Thank you for your efforts and for sharing this recipe

I'm so excited to try making these. I've always thought moon cakes were beautiful and I own some molds. But I could never find all the traditional ingredients. This is the first recipe where I have access to all the ingredients mentioned. Thank you. I love your recipes and the clarity you present them with, I always enjoy making them.

I tried making this yesterday and it turned out great! I didn't have white kidney beans so I used black eyed peas instead. The crust has a buttery shortbread taste to it. It was a nice crispy mooncake! Love this recipe so much!
