Racecraft is a much more important skill than you think. Even large speed and lap time differences aren't enough if you don't know how to play your cards. Poor Teemu gave us a great example to analyse. Of course that's not because Teemu has no racecraft, but it was a situation that highlights the small details that matter the most - so thanks to Teemu for producing that opportunity for us!

Simracing is difficult. Learning how to drive fast takes time, dedication and persistence. Assetto Corsa Competizione is one of the best simulations with highly sensitive aerodynamics that want to be respected. Telemetry, such as motec helps with analyzing car behavior and finding major issues in the car setup or driving style. Special sim racing hardware also helps with becoming better, but certainly is not the solution to your problems. Load cell pedals offer better feel. Stronger but most importantly more detailed force feedback of e.g. direct drive wheels offer more immersive sensations. Though I know and I've seen throughout the years, people with entry level hardware perform on top level.

Hey, free coaching! 🎉 Tbf it's actually good insight, useful for me too. Main thing I kinda struggled here was the mental approach of "I should be faster" yet the slick is so fast on the straight so it wasn't as free as my mental approach was and I wasted the best peak potential of the first lap. My approach usually is to "build the move, read the opponent, for a while" but this time it wasn't an option and that approach really cost me a lot. Too slow to adapt

slowing down to be faster is just not something any mind comes across easily. it seems self contradicting so you park it on someone's bumper all too easy. thanks for the example!

@SimracingPopometer yeah, especially when you're in a hurry and within the same lap realize p2 is up for grabs suddenly 😅

Awesome insights, Nils! The way Teemu Karppinen in the Bentley was able to showcase skill over sheer speed is a perfect example of what you’re discussing. He was 3 seconds faster than the car ahead on dry tyres, yet couldn’t find a way to overtake and ended up finishing P6 instead of P3. This really highlights the importance of strategy and patience in racing, and it’s a valuable lesson for all of us. Sometimes, it's not just about being the fastest; it's about knowing when to make your move! Thanks for sharing these lessons with us! 🚗💨

Man I had the time for my license, but when I went to check someone had beaten the record. What's annoying is I slowed down a bit in order to lower the chances I would mess up. My progress is very slow, but it's progress. And a lot of that is thanks to your channel =)

what this also shows is that you are never done learning this skill, a bit comforting but also frustrating 😅 I really like the format, doesnt really have to be a 1-take thing tho if you want to try something else

@ManuallyEditing I have track guides for all acc tracks. but as this video says rather be too early than too late. there's also an option to work with data on our website. focus on lines and placement, don't put the car on the edge on each turn

Question, how do you know what tires your opponents are on? Is there an indicator? Do you need to ask something like crewchief? Edit: To clarify, in game, while racing against other drivers.
