More Moves that Pokémon SHOULD/SHOULDN'T Learn

Sucker Punch isn't actually a Punch Move (hence why its unaffected by Iron Fist). The original Japanese name was "Surprise Attack" which actually makes a lot of sense with Diglett and Dugtrio. The move was translated to "Sucker Punch" because the localization team believed that the phrase "Sucker Punch," referring to an unexpected attack that is meant to catch the opponent off guard, would resonate more with the move's unique functionality. Thumbs up for every other time this has already been said, lol.

Glad to see so many people enjoying the video. Yeah, Diglett learning Sucker Punch wasn't the best pick. I did see the Japanese name being 'Surprise Attack', so did think twice about keeping it in. Can't really remember why I decided to, I guess to make the comparison to Scrafty not being able to learn Sucker Punch, but yeah. I'll be sure to improve for future videos. +TheAuraGuardian dude, how about a video about reddeming qualities of derpy pokemon: dunsparce can glare/ headbutt/ coil/ rock slide / rest/ snore which turns him into a normal type flinch hax jirachi with serene grace. the pancake pokemon is good defensively on both sides and has quite a bit of HP. slowbro looks derpy but he doesnt count because he is amazing. so is muk. lickilicky is a nice wall. seaking can run choice band or damp rock and wreck a lot of stuff. just in case some people dont know, because zigzagoon sucks, linoone has access to belly drum and extreme speed. sturdy/ pain split nosepass is an asshole. volbeat got tail glow. spinda (my favorite normal type of all time) has superpower and contrary. and sucker punch. (ive done spinda sweeps on OU. FREAKING hilarious). whishcash can learn dragon dance and become good, of course. castform can summon the rain and hurricane away. kecleon/ protean/ power up punch/ shadow sneak/ sucker punch and a lot of other stuff. not to mention sp. defense. simple bibarel curse quick attack swoobat/ simple/ calm mind/ substitute/ salac berry

Updates: Aipom, and therefore Ambipom, got Tail Slap by breeding in USUM, and there are now 4 more Fire type Pokemon that can learn Scald: Carkol, Coalossal, Sizzlipede, and Centiskortch. Hilariously, Carkol and Coalossal are FOUR TIMES weak to water. Yet they can learn a water type move. It doesn't matter if it's hot water. Hot water is still water.

The reason Diglett and Digtrio can learn Sucker Punch is because, look at the Japanese name of the move. Sneak Attack. Sucker Punch is actually not a punch, it's not even powered up by the Iron Fist ability. The term "sucker punch" means an unexpected blow. Diglett and Dugtrio certainly look like they could sneak up on the enemy and attack them unexpectedly, by burrowing underground and then quickly emerging. The reason Rayquaza doesn't get Sky Attack is because the Japanese name of the move is God Bird. That's why, if you look at the list of Pokemon that can use Sky Attack, only birds learn it. (Except for Mew, but Mew gets every move.) Rayquaza may live in the sky, but it's a dragon, not a bird. I agree with everything else though.

Sky Attack's Japanese name is God Bird, which is why dragon-like flying type Pokemon, such as Charizard, and the aforementioned Rayquaza, can't learn it. They're not birds. Sky Attack is a very rare move, so I don't blame you for not knowing what it is.

Updates: - Aipom gets Tail Slap through breeding, but only in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon since the Pokemon required to get the move through breeding (Minccino and Nickit) aren't available in Gen 9. Hopefully we see them in the Indigo Disk DLC. - Noivern (only Noivern) now gets Dragon Tail via TM in Gen 9. - Machamp gets Mach Punch. But only in Legends Arceus. Growlithe still can't learn Growl though.

Dunsparce has the excuse of being a normal type with a big movepool and Togepi gets Metronome via level up so it basically gets anything. Ice and snow are frozen water so it makes sense. Withdraw is only a water type move cuz in gen 1, only water types had shells and the move's description is "User withdraws into its shell". Kanto Vulpix has psychic mythical powers. Phantump is a ghost type too so it does make sense, I mean other ghost types like Yamask get the move so yeah. Finneon is the Wing Fish Pokemon. Tackle is a full body charge attack so of course it can learn it, even Magnemite gets it and Bagon has a mouth to breathe fire with.

How about Roserade not being able to learn Vine Whip and Power Whip? The dex entry says it attacks with thorny whips hidden inside its rose bushes. Also, Umbreon's dex entry says it secretes poison for protection, but it doesn't learn any poison moves naturally. Of course, you may teach it Toxic, but shouldn't it learn it by leveling up since the dex says it naturally secretes poison?
