It can be very shallow there, and a tough paddle to go up. After they there is another big set of shoals at akers mill. So if you're in great shape it's doable. Just not me.

I've read that the Chattahoochee River, immediately below Morgan Falls Dam, is 811 feet deep. That is astounding. Also read the river, at Providence Canyon, is 300 feet deep. That's deeper than the Mississippi at New Orleans, which is 200 feet deep.

That’s not true. Directly below Morgan falls it’s like 6 feet deep. It’s deep above Buford Dam. 100+ in some spots.

@@Hydrayak Yes, it says it is 160 feet deep at Buford Dam, but years ago, visiting with a fisheries Biologist up there, I was told it was 147 feet deep at Buford Dam. That was early 1990s. Wonder why I keep seeing these sites that say it is 800 feet deep below Morgan Falls?

Is there anyway you can catch them from the shore I LOVE fishing so damn much man! I catch striper all the time in SC but haven’t been able to Hear in GA! Please put me on some Striper brother! I just recently made it to the UFC so I’ve been very busy! But if I find the time I would love to learn from you!

Hi Tresean! Sure would be happy to help. You can catch them from the shore, or, the fishing deck. But it's much harder to get a bite from shore. They love that oxygen rich water that comes from the dam and the bait that hides there. I don't eat a lot of freshwater fish, but a friend that does, has shown me that the Chattahoochee River Striper at Morgan Falls eat a lot of crawfish. One fish he had caught there had a belly full of crawfish. So while they are opportunistic feeders and will eat any fish they can swallow, they seem to have a steady diet of craws by the time they get to the dam. So try crawfish patterns and scents. I have caught striper on craw patterns on both the Etowah River and the Hooch below Morgan Falls Dam. I've also had success on 4" swimbaits.

They don’t schedule one at MF. They are pretty much generating all the time and it’s safe to paddle. This is a very different scenario than Buford Dam, where they do schedule and it’s heavy.

@@justindavis2282 yes below Morgan Falls Dam. The water is dirty and high because of all of the rain that we've had recently. But the volume doesn't change as drastically as it does below Buford Dam. So it is safer to paddle than below other dams in the area. Also, bacteria levels are typically very high when it's been raining like this. I typically will not get on the water when it is like this.
