Yep… I was barely 18 and he was 22. The judge and DA justified what he did for several reasons including how he “had his whole life ahead of him”, he was drunk, I had 2 drinks underage, he had a kid to provide for, and because he had no record. He only had a kid because he got a girl pregnant 2 months after assaulting me… and he ended up with another felony charge for vandalism before his sentence in my case… what about my future? He took mine and his should’ve been taken too. Instead he didn’t have to register and he got under 100 days in jail

@@alexd327 i mean the sentence is only important cause the other side exists too, I'm a man, wrongly accused of doing that, and it nearly ruined my life before I could proof that she lied with chats she deleted from my and her phone but not from her tablet that wasn't connected to the cloud anymore. my Friends, my family and the kids I like to work with, all that would be gone forever because she doesn't need proof often enough, even if you don't get judged by the state, you will still lose everything as an actual good guy, cause society will judge you without proof. i did lose my job, I did lose 2 friends and I nearly could've never gone back into work with childs even tho I was able to proof that she lied. as long as he actually did what you say, there is no reason at all to feel bad for him, only that in your situation, he had a kid that would suffer, and now you need to live with the outcome of that, hope it doesn't took too much from you.

To other survivors, from a survivor: No matter your age. No matter your gender. No matter the clothes you wore. No matter what people say. You. Are. Not. At. Fault. If you relate to this song, I'm sorry you had to go through that. But more importantly... share your story and lift our fellow survivors up. Sharing your story is the best thing you can do. I'm not forcing you to, especially if it's still been far too recent. But if you can and want to, do it. It inspires others to speak up against this world's abuse. My story has been shared enough, so I'm here to tell you to share yours. You're worth fighting for, I promise. And we will stand by you.

He would say he wanted me to have his kids. He would make remarks on my body. When I was 15 I was S/A when a guy I had just met that day got high and decided to kiss me. At first I blew it off as a whatever. But then he pinned be against a fence and began to touch me everywhere. It's been almost 2 years and I still can't make sense of it. im a man and i just found your music, it's amazing, almost cried from the lyrics, considering how important the message is, and how powerful this song is. it's important to not be quiet about this shit, do NOT be silenced. whether you are man, woman or other, always speak up, always seek help, its impossibly difficult, but when you do, you'll know that you gave it your all. im 24 and ive been with my girlfriend for +9 years, and she is everything to me. unfortunately she's been through more shit than most people will ever even experience in their whole lifetime, and that's why this song gets to me. because it breaks my heart knowing everything she's been through, and that she still goes through, each and every day. I truly hope things will change, because it is insane the shit that men do and slip by without any fucking consequences. alot of men ive known when i was younger used to say "oh women have more rights than us now, and they still want more more more" and all I can say is, NO. women simply want to LIVE without fearing for their lives. Molested at thirteen, but I typically just say I've been sexually assaulted before. Most of the time I get caring responses from fellow women... but the amount of times people ask "What were you wearing?" Infuritates me. I was wearing a tank top and pajama bottoms, because not only was I supposed to be asleep but I didn't think I'd have to worry about my late sixties great-uncle finding my still developing tits too alluring to handle. When I say men disgust me, I don't mean all men, honest. My brother is my best friend, my grandpa is my savior, some of my closest friends have been guys. When I say all men scare me? I mean _every single man._

@@LilIdiot-xx5ox I mean if it makes you feel better, the only person who believed me or cared about my molestation was my aunt. Everyone else - man and woman - brushed it off because he was family. And yeah I definitely have privilege, when I explain that I had been molestated people tend to believe me because I was born a girl. If I was born a guy I'm sure the reactions would've been a whole load of bullshit (like the whole you're not a man or you're so lucky). I am not denying that privilege and I am sorry you went through such an awful thing, and that you only had one person to properly support you. However you don't get to call my experience or views "bs" because you have a different one. I am weary of men and get anxious when alone with one I am not very close with, because a man did horrible things to me. If your abuser was a woman you'd be justified to view women in the same light, it's not a gender thing, its a trauma thing. It just happens that this trauma typically happens to girls more than guys.

The first line about walking after midnight made me think about the fact that that flies in the face of the "How not to get raped" training that all girls are given by female relatives. Most men have probably never had the experience of seeing a woman walking towards them and pray that she didn't mean him any harm. Another good song is "What It's Like To Be a Girl" by Emilene.

@run4walk
@run4walk 2 жыл бұрын
Popular, but disingenuous take. Yeah, there are a lot of scumbags, and women really get the short straw when it comes to dealing with them. But firstly, it isn't all women. A lot of them, sure, enough that it's most women and a very big problem that needs to be addressed, but your argument needs to be solid all round if you're going to make waves, and saying it's all women when it's not (and even if it were, you certainly couldn't prove that) isn't a good idea. Second, It's not ignored by society, at all, hence why #MeToo has been trending for... Jesus, years now. The Believe Women slogan was extremely popular for a while. And women, at least in my country, are extremely vocal about the creepy advances or comments people make, and most of the media and greater society accepts and acknowledges it and mourns for them. They don't actually do anything about it, because that's what society is these days - lots and lots of words and very few actions - but to say they ignore it isn't really true. Society has acted upon it to the standard that society has learned to act on things - which is to say, barely at all. Which is a real shame. Lastly, "it's not all men" isn't meant to dismiss the issue. Very few people actually dismiss the issues outright, the not all men argument came from a splinter off radical feminists literally blaming every single man for the problems women face, saying that by virtue of being male you were at the very least subconsciously complicit in the problems.

This is a gorgeous song with strong vocal emotion behind every word. Being the only guy in my house growing up, I had more of an awareness to how dangerous it is for women and how careful they have to be while it never crosses most guys minds. I almost couldn't listen to the entire song because one of my biggest fears is something happening to one of my sisters or to my mother. I can't bear the thought of it. Guys, if a woman ever asks you to accompany them to their car house or anywhere especially at night please please do. It decreases the chances of something happening to them. Please stop the thought process of women saying all men do this, because that is not the case. The reason it is so important is because statistically 1 in 3 women will experience sexual assault or worse in their lifetime. Help protect and support. Don't be defensive and stonewall. We need to be more understanding, cooperative, and work on collaboration more. This is one step we need to work on to achieve that goal.

I've never heard a woman say that all men assault or attack women. But when women bring up what we go through EVERY DAY, 90% of men get defensive on behalf of their gender and leap to say "Not all men! Not all men!" to deflect and shut down the conversation. @@kendrawaddams7865 I personally haven't heard a woman say that either, but I do remember hearing about those rare few who do say some crazy things. Unfortunately, that gets a lot of right wing media coverage; furthermore, drawing unnecessary attention to the fallacy we're currently experiencing. This is why I believe we get a lot of men repeating the line "not all men" while getting defensive. I'm not saying this is the sole reason that happens, but I think it contributes a lot to the issue. My entire life I've been abused in some way. When I was little it was my dad then it was the other kids and when I got my early teens I found myself getting pressured to do things or send people things and ended up being groomed by someone I thought cared about me. When I finally started speaking out everyone I thought was my friend treated me like shit telling an 11/12 year old that she asked for it. Then last summer I was assaulted by a 19 year old. I was hanging out with people I thought were my friends and even though they knew he was a predator the left me with him. One by one they disappeared and he started to corner me when he stuck his hand down my pants. I ended up going home late and getting yelled at them breaking down to my mom about what had happened while she called me a Liar. She called the cops and we made a report that same night. About a week later the police officer called and told us there was nothing he could do because the DAs office told him to drop the case because the guy came from money and his family was in politics. The police officer almost cried. And more recently I've been getting harassed by a guy at my school. I've been asking teachers and admins for help for three years about this I'm 14 now. Nothing was done and when I lashed out they threatened to call the police on me meanwhile he got a slap on the wrist and I got two weeks suspension and now I'm stuck doing summer school. The system doesn't care. And this isn't everything just some of it. #metoo

This song right here. Women suffer because of patriarchy, but when we react to the oppression we get told „not all men”, „stop generalizing” ect. Yes it’s not all men, but it’s enough men for almost every girl to have at least one bad experience with them.

As a 14 year old who has been through this and my family defending the man who is my brother i relate to this so much Update: I'm now 15, I'm still living with my mother. I get into verbal fights with her often about it and her only defense is always "I was defending my son" which really isn't a valid excuse. Family or not he's a r@pist. I only have one of my brothers on my side the rest of my brothers and sisters pluss my mom oare on the r@pist brothers side. Unfortunately I do not have the heart to leave yet. I own 3 cats. My moms told of to take care of em and my 18 year old brother won't. The cats are the only thing keeping me sane and alive at this point. I don't have the heart to leave them till I am able to have the money take care of them. I know its stupid that even with all the sh1t I put up with I stay just for the cats but they are the only things that seem to actually care about me. They always seem to appear when I'm not dying well mentally or physically. They really are the only things keeping me.

As a man, this song makes me so angry to my core because it's true and from the bottom of my heart I wish that there was never a reason this song needed to be written. It hurts when people are scared of me for my gender, but not as much as it hurts whenever I hear of another person being abused with no real recourse. I hope that we can change and that things will be better someday. It's not my fault, but I'm still sorry it happens.

The truth is we live in a patriarchal society, where misogyny is a very common phenomenon not only for men/boys towards women/girls, but also amongst women/girls themselves as well... God this song really just reaches into your soul and *squeezes* I remember being on a school trip and being followed by a random man even though I was surrounded by classmates walking back to the buss. It was terrifying, I have never been happier to have one of my best friends there holding my hand throughout it. I couldn't imagine what would have happened if I was left alone or she wasn't there. Even before experiencing this I had such a deep fear of being left alone with random men or boys my age, no matter who there where. The horror stories I've heard and the comments you hear whispered around impact even those who hasn't experienced it first hand.
