26:42 Kung Lao was in MK2. He wasn't in the movie but they made a reference to the Original Kung Lao (aka The Great Kung Lao). There was a live action TV series called Mortal Kombat Conquest in 1998 about The Great Kung Lao which takes place 500 years before the 1st movie. The series was supposed to lead up to the events of the first movie but unfortunately was cancelled after the 1st season

51:04 Shang Tsung's island is in-between realms. So they are not on Earth and not in Outworld (they do go to Outworld at the end). That's why Sonya's compass was going crazy and the radio stopped working when they arrived to the island, because they weren't on Earth anymore

Raiden was actually spelled Rayden in the home console versions of the game up until MK 4. It was spelled Raiden in the arcade versions. So they actually spelled it correctly for the movie at the time.

To be fair though... Tim was also shocked about them not utilizing more of the roster when there was really only 2 Mortal Kombat games at the time of productions and they basically exhausted the entire earthrealm roster, except Kung Lao and I guess Jax who was in that one scene. Tim is not the best historian lol. The weird part is he is totally aware of Mortal Kombat 3 not being out yet.

MK: The Movie is perfect to me. Cheesy and totally B-movie, but it’s legitimately one of the better martial arts films ever and easily the best videogame adaptation of all-time. The cast has a good time with it, especially Cary as Shang Tsung and Linden as Cage. The effects for their time, except for Reptile, were solid and the soundtrack is iconic. This movie is pure 90s gold and I watch, at least, once a month. Endlessly rewatchable.
