Thanks for the great video. I just replaced the screen on my G7 and everything is working great. A couple important notes for others that may be doing this little repair. The screws that held down the ribbon cable to the screen on my phone were T3, not T5. My phone is only a couple months old, so it's possible that Motorola started using the smaller screws at some point in production. Just a warning for others - be aware that if a T5 doesn't fit, don't force it. It's likely that you have the smaller screws (T3). Also, I used 2mm tape which did the job but was at the limit of width for those really narrow edges. You wouldn't want to use anything wider than that and it looks like you're probably using 1mm in the video, which would have fit better and made the process go a little quicker.

Thank you for the video. It gave me the confidence to open up mine and carry out the repair. I used a hairdryer, blade, credit card and 1mm tape. Also the small star screwdriver. I panicked when the screen came on with major damage and lines missing during the repair, I think I damaged the existing screen upon removal. All working good now 👍

I scratched my screen two days after I got it and then literaly three months later it fell on sand( while in the protective case and with screen protector) the screen cracked.

Have you considered doing a recut of the video where you remove the part where you accidentally take off the back and then put it back on? It seems like it would make the video under 10 minutes long and a lot more straight forward for people who are actually just trying to replace the glass and LCD from the front.

Hi What size screws hold the metal cover plate over the screen connector ribbon? You say T5 in your video, but another KZbinr doing a screen replacement on same phone model says T4. The reason I'm asking is the replacement screen kit I bought came with a set of small screwdrivers but none of them fit! So I'm going to have to buy one and need to order the correct size. Thanks

You don’t have to worry about it. Nor do I concern myself about it. But if you really concerned about it then education maybe google is the best bet and it’s not gonna be here unfortunately when it comes to unusual questions like this.

I bought a screen and tested it before I glued it down. I need it at almost 80% screen brightness to see it really good. When the screen brightness is at the lowest setting (0%), I can barely see it. Is this normal or do you think the screen is not good quality? All my other devices have the screen brightness at 50% or less. Thank you so much for the video by the way. It was awesome.

For the G7 play you have to open the front and back, its very different from this video. The battery in the G7 play I had was well glued in and I broke it trying to take it out

I have a Motorola g7 that has files not backed up and I need it. I thought that screen was the issue (its cracked. Especially at the bottom) so I had that replaced at my local store and it still isnt turning on. There might have been a drop of two of water that got on it and went through the bottom of the screen where the charging port is. Is the power supply the culprit probabably? I will pay good good money to have this fixed or to restore my files. Even if I have to buy another G7 and swap out some of the guts. Please any info? I'm desperate and panicked

My screen cracked on my moto G7 and was ok for awhile but now the are different color lines in the middle of the phone and it goes crazy, dials numbers, text opens apps..i thought I was going to be able to replace the screen but I'm afraid it's much more..help first phone to myself in a long time and I'm still paying on it.

I'm a repair tech by trade. Taking apart the device in this manner shouldn't affect performance, unless you interfere with the thermal compounds, which would cause overheating.

@@_aoaoaoaoao it's likely because the screen is OLED/QLED. That type of screen, while having incredible color, visuals, and display resolution, does make it more fragile. So I suggest a tempered glass or carbon fiber screen protector for the future when it gets fixed.

Yeah you might have covered up the microphone hole. just poke a hole through it with something sharp and hopefully you can get any residue away

Hello threre not your first rodeo!!! I F%^&ed up my volume switch on moto g7 which causes mucho problems. Like this phone but not too thrilled about that glue bond. I even have a hair dryer out but not gonnas attempt it. OPEN a shop NOBODY fixes Phones. If you find one its 60 miles one way. Yes I wasnt drunk or anything just decided to pull my expanded memory chip out as it doesnt expand your inside memory. They call it portable memory but can only be used in this device. Yes I looked for that hole for tool didnt see it so decided to slide out with knife blade. Everything just popped out. Wondering if I should just get a diff phone. You know Id spend at least $60-$80 maybe more. getting fixed. new is $129.
