You still have a lot of water there, shows the problems caused by prolonged rain. It worries me seeing water overtopping what look like earth banks, are they reinforced? In The Highlands we get more problems with very heavy rain over a short period than with the prolonged steady rain we've just had, the sudden runoff can easily wash roads and bridges away. You got some good footage from the 360 camera. Up to now I've always used front and rear cameras and a helmet mounted camera, but seeing your results I'm tempted to try a 360. My only concern is the recording time because I like to leave the camera running, even on long rides. Thanks for an interesting video. Cheers, Mick

Thanks Mick glad you enjoyed it. Yes, I think flooding is only going to get worse as we get more of these periods of heavy rain in a short time. Unfortunately the ground can't cope and there's nowhere for the water to go. Anyway, we just have to learn to live with it. Much of the floodbanks is reinforced with piling and other stuff so fingers crossed it keeps holding out. Battery life on the 360 is an unknown at the moment. Like you, I just leave the gopro running all the ride but I carry spare batteries so can do long runs. At the moment I've only the one Battery in the 360 so still playing about with its possibilities. I'll probably end up getting spares for that as well. We'll see how I get on. Cheers.

That ‘drainage ditch’ is actually the River Went. Lol. It marks the boundary, DMBC,South Yorkshire, south bank, East Yorkshire , north bank. Just imagine how bad the flooding would have been in Fishlake again, if they hadn’t raised the height of the river bank after the 2019 incident.😱
@old-n-Goldie11 ай бұрын
Oops, sorry you're quite correct and my apologies to the river Went for calling it a drainage ditch. Afraid that in my haste to get this one edited and posted today I missread Google earth. The drainage ditch is actually next to the canal and doesn't even have a bridge. Yes, things have improved for Fishlake thankfully and the reinstating of the smaller flood bank accross some farm fields that had been removed years ago has also helped. Thanks for the comments. Cheers.

No need to be sorry, some drainage ditches are bigger! Lol.

Well dear Sir, you have managed a really good job as a beginner with the 360, actually I have always said I hate watching videos filmed with a 360, but it apparently seems to be the User and not the Camera, that distorts the picture. This footage, along with your comments, should be a mandatory "look 'n listen" for all people buying an Insta 360. I look forward to your future releases and congratulate you for this fine one. Thanks.

Thank you so much for the kind comments, glad you enjoyed it. I shyed off getting a 360 for a while now as I see so much footage from them that makes me dizzy. However I do like to experiment and now glad I got one to play with. It does take careful editing as you're effectively trying to get a good looking shot out of a complete globe of picture. It's very easy to end up with distorted perspective. Anyway, I'll try my best to use it properly. Cheers.

Blimey, you definitely had it bad up there, the fact that the landscape is so flat probably exacerbated the situation. I can’t remember it flooding that badly when I lived in Askern, we could always get to the pub in Sykehouse every Sunday lunchtime. In those days, the opening hours were strictly 12:00 ‘til 2:00, The new camera’s working fine, definitely no need for the special effects used by other presenters. Look forward to seeing more of it’s recordings, best wishes.

Yes, there's just nowhere for the water to go when you get that much in a short period. The roads between Barnby Dun and Arksey and Fislake nab over yo Sykehouse seem to flood quite regularly now. Glad you like the new camera, thanks for the feedback. Cheers.

Hy Rog well those fields are stufft with water and will i think bring no money just toil for the farmers.You have had a lot of rain this year in the uk which we could have used hier in Austria,i hope we get enough snow this year for our tourists.The 360 camera is super i get to see things which normally can`t be seen with Gopros,i hope you will be using it often and I hope you have a nice Autumn and ride safe--Pete🍀🍀🍀
@old-n-Goldie11 ай бұрын
Hi Pete, yes, I'm afraid those fields are going to be out of use for a while yet. Don't normally associate snow with Australia, but just Googled it and it appears you have a few ski resorts down there, you learn something every day. I love the gopro, it's a brilliant camera but yes, you do miss a lot when your just riding along. That was my intention with the 360, using it to stay focused on something as you pass it by. Hope to use it more on future rides as I get used to it. Cheers.

..., and who has gone and got himself an early Christmas pressie then? Using a 360° seems to have reduced your apparent trouble with the front camera, to become virtually irrelavent when on Harold. You sure did have some rainfall the last week or so, but then, your corner of the country is rather flat I suppose.
@old-n-Goldie11 ай бұрын
Yes, Father Christmas came early this year 😂😂😂. Still a lot to learn with it but it does give a lot of flexibility when choosing a view. We'll see how it goes. Afraid it is rather flat round here and there's just nowhere for the water to go when the ground gets as waterlogged as it is now. Cheers.
