Happy birthday, Richard! Gotta say I envy you two. My late wife and I met in Orlando 40+ years back. We'd each just begun clerking a convenience store, she 2 p.m.- 10 p.m., I overnight. We had one vehicle between us -- my 650 cc Kawasaki. Our first date was to Disney on the bike. Great! One parks within a horseshoe toss of the entrance! We took a 920 cc Yamaha to Disney for our honeymoon a few years later. Even better! I provided her with her first bike ride. Once she learned to lean with the bike instead of against it, she was a great passenger. She liked to go fast. We rode from Daytona Beach to visit her parents who were wintering Northwest of Orlando. She insisted on more wind so I cranked it on...back in the day when the speedometer stopped being useful at 80 m.p.h. When we got to her parents' home her son, following us on my old 650, explained why he kept falling back, then catching up. I'd thought we were going 85-90. We weren't. He clocked us at 130!

Happy Birthday Rich. My sons birthday is tomorrow. I'm guessing that you are like KYD and a month behind on posting your videos, so I missed you. My mom grew up in Libby and i have family over there. I was going to recommend the bridge and falls. Its pretty there. That's where they filmed River Wild. Lobby is where they filmed "Always". You missed the Ross creek cedar forest. It is definitely getting cooler here, and they are starting to predict mountain snow. If your still in the area let me know, would love to meet up.
@TwoWheelsBigLife4 жыл бұрын

@@TwoWheelsBigLife not to worry as I was getting worried you might get caught up in a snow storm. The mountains are calling for 1-5 inches of snow, and as one who's ridden a bike through snow wouldn't wish that in you.

Happy birthday, Richard. I'll be one of several to recommend heated gear, at least a jacket and gloves. I'd also think about a hi-viz rain suit. I got one at an military surplus store for under $30 and loved it. It not only kept me dry but was a big help with retaining warmth.

One summer I went fully loaded bicycle touring for 5 weeks in Wisconsin. Did not take very long to figure out that I could live with everything being wet. There really was no other choice. Of course there was the occasional day when the sun came, out and I could dry every thing. When traveling on the road it is amazing how living changes from our protected lives in houses. Loved the fact you didn't let a little rain get in the way of your adventure. Thanks. I enjoyed seeing the bridge, and falls.

I have been riding since ‘72. Though I have leathers, I wear mesh when temperatures exceed mid-80’s, and Gerbing heated jacket liner, pants, gloves, socks and Klim waterproof jacket/pants. Expensive but well worth it and no stopping to put on or take of the rain suit. Enjoy watching your video though 20 years in the Army cured me of the desire to camp.

In Washington Sate there is the Okanogan. In Oregon there is Kootenai Falls. In British Columbia we have the Kootenays and Kootenay Lake and the Okanagon. Same/similar names, different spellings. On another note, in the shoulder seasons we love our heated vests to to along with heated grips and heated seats. With good rain gear one can stay pretty comfy. Cheers from Kelowna, B.C.
