Ford CEO Jim Farley is completely out of touch with the people who want buy their trucks. Quality continues to go down... Prices keep going up... And dealer lots are still stocked with overpriced trucks that people can no longer afford to buy. The Ford F150 has been americas best selling truck for the last 1 billion years. But recently their crown has been stolen by Chevy and GMC as they sold more trucks than ford for the first time in years. And in today's video I'm going to show you exactly what Ford is doing wrong, and why Chevy and GMC could steal all of Ford's business.

There is a massive need for just a cheap reliable 'Work' pickup truck. In the 80s and 90s they were everywhere. They came with crank windows, rubber mats, manual door locks and the biggest thing that you wanted in a work truck was a radio, A/C and a cup holder. That was all you needed. A pickup truck now is like driving a Cadillac in the 90s and you don't need all that stuff for a work truck. (people in the trades)

Yeah talk about it. My 79 Subaru got T-boned and bent in the passenger fender, bent the frame, bent the wheel, broke a knuckle and an axle. It cost $1800 to fix including shipping the only fender I could find from New Mexico to Massachusetts, shipping the wheel from PA to MA, getting a knuckle from New Hampshire, new ball joint, new axle, frame repair, etc. $1800 including labor. The guy that crashed into me? $5500 for minor damage to his bumper on his 07 Acura RDX that caused no drivability issues. Absolutely insane what it costs to fix these newer cars when major damage repair on a rare, 45 year old car cost significantly less.

Labor and parts are so expensive these days, people can’t afford to fix their cars, even if they’re still making payments. Vehicles are too expensive. That's the thing. They can't afford them. What is happening now is banks are extending loans at linger terms like the gentleman above me said. You can afford 70k payment if it's stretched over 8 years. 70k before interes and down-payment would be 729 (still too high in my opinion) but over the life of the loan you're more than likely paying double 70k. If banks stopped lending at these extended rates you'd see a massive crash in the market. But you know how it goes. The government props the banks and hedge funds and other corporations to stop crashes by bailing them out and making lending standards longer My opinion is after 3 to 4 years of driving every day your gonna get screwed with a massive mechanic bill as cars inevitably wear and tear over time. The more crap the crambn into these vehicles the longer it takes to fix them and making them complicated racks up labor hours. In the end you will see at some point a major crash because this isn't sustainable.

There is also the attitudes of the dealerships that keep me away. I was looking at the Maverick Tremor and asked to test drive and was told no. After 10-15min of peering through the window, a salesman comes up to me, says nothing and drives the Maverick away from me. Perhaps they were already in the middle of selling it but I'm not sure. I just decided that day that it's just not the time to buy. I had 10k down-payment and 17k trade, but I never tell the salesman that. I prefer to see how they treat me without knowing what I can afford.

Haggling is fun. Hard to get dealers to play the game the past few years. I thoroughly enjoy it, but I don’t go in unprepared. Sometimes it takes a week of back and forth. Best in my life was getting a 2013 F150 XLT msrp at $44k at $28k otd. Full disclosure had a 2011 ranger as a trade but it wasn’t no where near paid off. It’s really the thrill of the hunt. Most of the time I hit my mark but sometimes I miss. If it takes a week of back and forth it’s like following a blood trail into the night. But I get it, nowadays people don’t like negotiating. They’d rather just get one price and that’s it. If you don’t ask for more you’ll never know what else you could get.

@MotorFeed so I've bought 3 new ford's in the last 3 years. Your video is correct 100% . Really good information and comparison for walking onto the lot but people also don't go to the lot to order. All three of mine I built on their site. Pick color, body trim level and options. I built my new bronco drove it 9k mile and trades it in for 14k more than I paid. I have a f150 2023 5.0 with a whipple at 725 hp all done at dealership for 48k. Just bought a 2024 f350 4x4 fx off road 4 door for 51k. Gave me 5k over what I had in trade in. Yes there are over bloated, over priced vechiles on the lot but there is also really good deals if there person knows how to work the system. Think of a dealership as a convenient store. It's what it is. A person can bypass and order directly from ford. It's pretty cool. I love you're videos . I think they're spot on. Keep up the good work.

When I was growing up, trucks were work vehicles. Nobody had one that wasnt for work, then the 70s came along and they became lifestyle vehicles, pretty girls with cowboy hats were on the pick up truck commersials, and eventually there were luxury trucks, people wanted more for their truck dollar. The Dealership is the Manufacture's customers and not the consumer. This is why we always get a bad deal on vehicles . Tesla direct sales cuts out the middle man and prices are set by supply and demand . This gives Tesla the advantage of changing prices daily , where dealerships have a loan on vehicles and can't change the price much.
