Some people saying no future for electric cars. So listen On a petrol car cost 10 lakhs. Petrol of average 10 lakhs is burnt in 10 years and so when we use electric car. It gives a milaege of 452 in ideal conditions so let's take 300 km in a charge of just 6 hours charge. And with dc charger 1.5 hours so that's kind enough to recover the cost of vechile. If car is of 25 lakh so after 10 years it will give you back 10 lakhs and be happy that Tata motors is working on a new battery with 10 years warranty. Hyundai worked on vechile and not on batteries but Tata is doing research on only batteries to reduce cost and charging time so don't worry people Tata will definitely reduce the cost of car like Kona upto 35 percent and you will get it under 19 lakhs. So future is ahead and don't worry lakhs of mechanical and electrical engineers are working on this technology and for sure the will give us the result. Jai hind vandematram

It's on road cost is 32lakhs. Its better that one should purchase renault duster top model which is of Rs.14lakhs on road. And invest rest of amount 18lakhs in a bank for 5 years Fixed deposit. The interest generated at the end of each month will be used in petrol expenses as well as maintenance of the car. Electric cars are only practical in India when they are available at affordable prices

That's the price of creta😂. How the hell do you think they'll release a full electric car at the same price. It has an expensive battery and the car has a lot more tech. Agree that 25 lakhs is too much but it is justified (for now atleast)... Its just a matter of demand & supply. Many people in India wish to buy electric car, So there is some ( little) demand but the supply is ZERO.... As *Kona* is 1st complete electric car so it has be that much expensive.... As the time passes, electric cars will ultimately be made affordable to Indian Market 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Am a Tata Nexon EV owner. Have driven this car 5000+ KMs till now with more of highway driving. Am sharing my experience with EV. Mileage to be considered for Tata Nexon EV is only 150 KMs with AC on and drive freely like petrol cars, it is nowhere near 312 KMs as claimed by Tata. On drive mode, I get 190 KMs on limiting my speed to 70-80 KMs/hr. with AC on, only driver (no load) on highway. Forget about the sport mode, have never dared to test it! Battery onboard AC to DC charging module is to accept only 3.7kW, Hyundai Kona has 7.4kW. Charging time reduces by half and company can go upto 11kW charging easily without much additional cost. A Tata representative have been appointed to all Tata dealers to promote EVs. Sadly not the one expected from Tata, this guy also went on assuring of getting a minimum of 240 KMs. on highway with AC on and full load. Difference between the real world and ARAI standards mileage should be considered to 50% of what ARAI standards give to EVs! Nexon EV has been given only a single parking brakes option (hand brakes), and not 2-3 braking options like in petrol car. I feel this is a major safety compromise made by Tata. On putting off car, it automatically switches to neutral mode making it necessary you apply parking brakes else, the car might move! Nexon doesn't have a "hill lock" function, on gradients you have to be very careful, as you release brakes car starts moving backwards! On comfort levels car is good. There are minor issues which I am sure will get corrected in next service. Tata dealers suck. I bought car from Puneet motors, Malad, Mumbai. This dealer didn't give a test drive inspite of umpteen requests made; went all out to get full advance from me while the car was yet in Tata Motors, Pune. Activated my car sim afyer about 45 days of buying the car! Forget about many small issues like no signed copy of invoice, chassis no. on fasTag, 5 no. alloy wheels mentioned in invoice whereby you get only 4... I have been to lots of harrassment by this dealer right from I purchased this car. Tata doesn't seem to have control on their dealers. If we compare with Mercedes who have launched an EV recently with a battery pack of 80kW, claiming only 240+ KMs. on full battery. Tata Nexon has only 30kW battery! Tata should go the German way. After all this is the impression we all have for Tata, an "honest" company. They make Mercedes Benz for India! By what I have learnt from my first EV, my next EV would be: 1) 1000 KMs mileage claimed by company (so that I can get atleast 450-500 KMs. "Drive like petrol cars" mileage; 2) 0-100 KMs/hr. in about 7 sec. in normal drive (Nexon gives 9.9 in sports mode, drive mode is super boring); 3) 11kW onboard AC charging capability module, 3.7kW in Nexon takes whole 10 hrs. to charge!; 4) OTA software updates, why should I visit service center just for an update?

Is it really practical..., where is the infrastructure for electrically charging it. In our country, we don't even get proper electricity for house usage, how are we going to provide electricity for charging it. Range wise, if we are travelling a long distance, say @ 400 to 600 km on one go..., is it possible???? For full charging it will take @ 6-8 hrs., so you need to halt somewhere in between and that too where there is a point of charging. Automobile Industry should concentrate on making electric car which can be charged on it's own, during it's drive and the most important thing is affordable. Frankly speaking, the one's who can afford these car really don't care @ the environment and the one's would like to care @ the environment can't afford these cars.

Technical things can be improved, regenerative breaking actually doesn't use breaks at all
@shubham-pawar5 жыл бұрын
You are wrong about the fact that it will give less range in city ( around 250 ) and more in highway ( around 350 ). The above is true for only internal combustion engine cars and not electric. It's actually the opposite for electric cars as in city you are driving at relatively slow speed and using regenerative braking and thus not using the electric motor to it's full level thus less power draw and more range. On highway you are driving fast and using the electric motor to it's full level thus less range.
@ArunArun-rv5bn5 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Motor doesn't use any power at all when you're stuck in traffic. It uses energy from battery only when the car is moving and it uses only what's needed when moving slowly unlike engines which waste fuel when the car is moving slowly and even when the car is stopped. Also just like you said, regenerative braking will give some extra charge as you slow down a lot in the city without using actual brakes.
@shubham-pawar5 жыл бұрын

Electric car of same power as petrol are about 7 to 8 lakhs higher. If you are an average driver and you drive approx 10,000 kms each year. Considering fuel cost at Rs 100 per liter and an average of an SUV petrol to be 10 km/liter. The cost of 10,000 kms (petrol) = Rs 100,000. For EV, the electric cost is say Rs 2 per km. Cost of 10,000 kms(electric) = 20,000. If you own the car for 5 years. Total cost (petrol car ) = 500,000. Total cost (electric) = 100,000 + 8,00,000 (extra car cost at purchase) = 900,000. You will lose Rs400,000 during these 5 years. You can buying electric if you have genuine concern for the environment and have ample money.
