They certainly build your overall “back”. Hit your legs very nicely also. But yes as John states, there are better exercises for your lats exclusively.

We miss you and love you John. I personally started doing rack pulls because of his suggestion.. think it's a great exercise.

I like how a deadlift/row complex lights up my entire back. Fun to throw those in for a couple weeks. Rack pulls definitely have their place and feel even better

Don’t work deadlift to work your back but yes it does hit the lats. I try to focus on pushing through the floor to accentuate the incorporation of the glutes and hamstrings for deadlifts since you can so very easily isolate the back as intended.

Im currently doing RDLs in the hope they will strengthen my lower back
@hanskazan7403Ай бұрын
Ofcourse they will

For me, deadlifts grew my lower and mid traps. Weirdly, its the only exercise where I can destroy my traps on. All those laying dumbell and cable rope face pulls kills my arms way more than my traps, regardless of position/angle.

I’ve pulled my lats doing heavy deadlifts so I have the belief that they do!
@hanskazan7403Ай бұрын
I dont train deadlifts to build my lats lol 😂 in do them on leg day just to get a strong body for lats i do pulldowns db rows etc
@chrisnovellin9813Ай бұрын
Deadlifts get a bad name because it becomes more technical than most lifts and most people don't do it correctly. If your technique is off good luck. But if you practice and train the technique, and perform it correctly than deadlifts are money.

Who does DL thinking they will solely build lats? you are working on everything in your back. It's like saying "i don't get a good enough workout in my side delts doing an incline bench press so I will just remove it." It's not what the exercise is for. This is simple biomechanics and kinesiology. Even simple bro-science.
@Game7ModeАй бұрын
this aint it. so many other better ways to train lats. keep your deadlifts pure
