Welcome to The Heinz History Center & Museum located in Pittsburgh, PA.
Inside the multi story building you'll find everything from modes of transportation, sports history, history of the famous Ketchup and even a section of Mr Rogers Neighborhood. My friends Richard & Kara joined me for this location and even after spending hours at this amazing place, we didn't get to see everything. So come along with us as we visit and explore the Heinz History Center & Museum.

JP, loved tour of museum! Brought back many memories, including getting my polio vaccine shot in grade school, back in 1950's. Still have scar on my upper left arm. Next time I visit brother & sister-in-law will have to visit. Another museum on the Northside near PNC Park is Andy Warhol museum. 5 or 6 floors as I recall.

That is an amazing museum, I absolutely love seeing those recreation of what life was like living in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. I can't think of the word, I call them "stage props" the furniture. The wall paper, kitchen appliances. Carpet, and the homes. Things like that from the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. It's like going back in time, seeing all that old things. Love it I grew up watching Mr. Roger's Neighborhood One of them was called Erika's castle Mr. Roger's Neighborhood was a true icon, there will never be a show as great as that one.

Very cool museum. The red race car is an Indy car, most likely Chip Ganassi owned race car, as he is from Pittsburgh and is said to have a Motorsports test facility in one of the inaccessible turnpike tunnels.

Awesome museum with such a variety of things I like! That stainless steel car is also the first non-Delorean stainless steel car I've ever seen or even heard of. I was a big Mr. Rogers fan as a kid (and an even bigger fan of his trolley lol), so I would enjoy visiting that section very much too. I had never heard of this museum before your video, but now it would rank high on my to-do list if I went to Pittsburgh. Thanks for showing us around!

FYI, the old bridge from 1969 that crossed the Allegheny River was the Manchester Bridge. Also the 2nd bridge there, it opened in 1915 and closed in 1969 when the Fort Duquesne Bridge opened. It was demolished by being blown into the river by implosion, one truss at a time, in September 1970. BTW, the memorial and statue to Mr. Rogers on the North Side near Heinz Field is carved out of the old Pier to the Manchester Bridge.

Oh wow what a wonderful museum, there is so much to see! That was so funny you "trying" to go down the tunnel slide and riding the boat "trying" to get out of it lol I laughed so hard! The Mr. Rogers Neighborhood display was so fantastic, the statue of him looked very realistic, always enjoyed watching him. This video was both interesting and awesome with its old buggies, wagons, vehicles, photos and so many other great things of that era. Mr Rogers was a good example for the children, which we need MORE of today! I loved the old bottles and containers. I would always search for stuff like like in dump areas. Found some real treasures from trash dumped years ago! Lat comment is: You should have bought oe of the T-shirts at (43:24) that said, "I'm kind of a BIG DILL!". Ha ha ha ha

BTW, the first Point Bridge was a suspension bridge from 1877 to 1928. The abutment which stands today on the south shore of the Mon is from this original 19th century Bridge and not the bridge that was still standing but closed for 11 years from 1959 to 1970.
@CruisingPittsburgh
@CruisingPittsburgh 2 жыл бұрын
At 23:28 in your excellent video, you show a picture of Point Park from 1969. The Point Bridge in the picture is the second Point Bridge which opened in 1928 and closed in 1959 when the Fort Pitt Bridge was opened. Although closed in '59, it was not demolished until the late spring/ early summer of 1970. It was a cantilever Bridge that was disassembled piece by piece.

At about 30:17 of the video, you incorrectly identify a building at the edge of Downtown Pgh as the Penguins arena. Actually that is the David L. Lawrence Convention center. The Pens arena is not visible from here as it is in the uptown region just east of Downtown.
