We may not know WHY anyone would treat this person in such a terrible way, but that’s just it-we don’t know. 4. Not one element of this story implies involvement of beings we don’t even know exist. 5. The unidentified substance found on his body is just that-unidentified as of yet. 6. I just want to say how much your storytelling has affected my life. When I started watching, I was at a dead end job making nothing and my partner was awful, wasting resources on purpose, not taking care of our dogs, etc. I was drinking casually, not like i used to but it was getting there. Spending what little I had on terrible MJ just to feel something. I was overweight and the heart failure was dragging me down to a slow death by drowning, cigarette by cigarette. I'm not sure how, but binge watching this channel helped me quit smoking and drinking and i started getting out with my dog more. Then my partner left, and I was stuck with 2 dogs that both require 100% effort, and all 3 of us sleeping in my truck. We are still in the truck, but oh how things have changed. I no longer feel the urgency to rehome my 5 year old dog , his health has improved, too! I'm now completely sober and my dogs get 6 hours of exercise a day - and I am no longer in congestive heart failure! I think I latched onto the survival stories most - and I now choose life. Thank you for your service to your fellow humans through this channel - you changed my life and both of my dogs are happier because of you 🖤

I live in the next village over to Todmorden and what astonished everyone which isn’t mentioned here, is that there was no coal displaced from the pile that poor Ziggy was found on top of. If you were brought up in a Yorkshire mining village you will know how very difficult it is to scramble up a pile of coal because the lumps rumble away under your feet, loosening the lumps further up which will begin rolling downhill and bringing more loose lumps with it and you don’t make much progress for a lot of effort. When you get to the top, most of the pile will be distributed around the base and the hill will be smaller. There’s no way an old man would have the energy to make it to the top of that substantial hill of coal - but it would be a sheer impossibility to do it without making a mess, and there wasn’t a lump of coal out of place on that pile. Impossible. And yes, he would have been absolutely filthy if he had climbed/ been dragged and the strange suit he wore was spotless. It had turn ups on the trousers and they were perfectly clean; these would have been full of coal dust. Nobody could drag a man up a 12ft coal pile without being seen and heard as well, you would have to be very strong and even then it would take ages, if you ever got to the top. Just a note about the policeman: a Yorkshire mining village is a very poor choice of place to say you’ve seen a UFO - you will be made fun of and teased relentlessly for years and this is exactly what happened to PC Godfrey. Personally, l believe him because you just wouldn’t do that round here unless it really did happen

The whole jelly like substance thing being unidentifiable is pretty weird. When you realize how vast the database of solid, liquid, and gas substances actually is, it is damn near impossible for a substance to go unidentified once analyzed.
@JJFX-11 ай бұрын
Well with modern tools they'd know what the substance consisted of but it's not hard to believe they couldn't figure out exactly what it was. The problem is I can't find clear evidence that continued testing has actually happened. If anyone knows, let me know but I can't find anything remotely scientific... Supposedly the case remains 'classified' but who knows how true that is. It's one of those cases where there's more hyperbolic reports and people playing a big game of telephone than there is good information. Much of it focuses more on Alan Godfrey's UFO claims than this case specifically. They gloss over the details and repeat the same points we heard here while adding a lot of 'entertainment' value to the mix.

I found this story to be quite fascinating. I only live a few towns away from Todmorden but have never heard of this particular story. However, growing up I had heard that the area was quite known for UFO sightings. In 1994, I was playing pool with friends at a local pub when one of my friends barged into the room quite frantic, claiming that he had just seen a UFO. He had an old Land Rover and he used to take it to a quarry that was located high on the hills between a town called Bacup and Todmordern. He often took his car there so that he could do a bit of rough driving on the rocky terrain. While he was there he said he saw this green glowing object fall out of the sky, hover just a few meters abouve the quarry base before shooting back up into the sky again. Panicked, my friend drove straight out of the quarry and headed towards home. Apparently he encountered a police car on the way back and flagged them down and reported the incident. I think they were very bemused by this as he was quite excited whilst trying to describe it. Eventually he found his way to the pub, knowing we would be there and he was just beside himself with panic and excitement. I do not know whether the story was true, but it was the one and only time he ever did anything like this. Keep up the great work. I love listening to your stories.

Close to the horizon, but very bright and organised similar to dots on the dominos, they stacked themselves into different arrangements with weird precision. No rhyme or reason to it. Went on for about an hour. Then they all blinked off one by one. Dunno if they were drones, spotlights- aliens- whatever but it weirded us out.

@@johntaylorson7769 most of the stuff I have seen were over Haworth way, lots of fast moving lights over there. Seen a small light directly overhead that went over north to south and then backtracked about 15 degrees off it's initial course without slowing or visibly turning and no sound and then accelerated (that freaked my friend out, first time they had EVER seen anything weird in the sky). Long before drones were a thing, late 80s, and I don't think a larger human craft would have been capable of that manoeuvre then or even now. It looked like a plane at cruising altitude before it did the manoeuvre. Seen a ball of orange light that was close to the ground (about level with my upper floor so maybe 15-20 feet off the ground, and about 150 yards away, looked about 2 feet across in size) following the local tributary river, that was about 4 am, had got up to get a drink and saw it from my landing window as it was coming into view behind neighbouring houses, took it about 3 seconds to go what I would estimate to be about a half mile before I lost sight of it. You'll have heard all of them before long. Almost all of his videos are great. There's occasionally an anticlimactic shaggy dog story and a few where if you look up the facts of the case you'll find he's sensationalized it or left out facts that make it far less mysterious than presented but that's part of being a compelling story teller. The only real downside to this channel is that once you've finished the initial binge one new story a week isn't satisfactory. As some other commenters have mentioned, I would be interested in knowing what the contents of Ziggy’s stomach were. If he was indeed able to eat during the days when he was missing, who was giving him food and what kind of foods did he ingest. Also the clothes, dry cleaners tags or brand labels, even environmental exposures leaving trace fibres- these could help answer the questions we have. However, why initiate these potentially expensive inquiries when you have a death in a small town, with limited resources, that can be simply put to bed as the result of ‘natural causes’?

I think there's definitely other intelligent life out there in the universe somewhere. I'm not convinced completely that they have visited our planet, though this story is extremely odd. Regardless of who killed Ziggy, it's such a sad end for a man who was so beloved by his family and community. I feel in particular for Lottie for losing her support, for the goddaughter for losing her father figure, and for the cousin whose last conversation with him was an argument.

Such an unusual story. The fact that Ziggy was found in such a manner. The Green Gel substance is yet to be indentified. He was 25 miles away from his own home. Dressed in clothes not belonging to Ziggy. This is truly an unusual case. My thoughts and prayers to Ziggy's family and friends. Great story Mr.Ballen as per usual. 💪🏻🙏🏻✨

Most likely murdered by neonazis or the coal mine owners (Legitimate reasons to retire early being denied can be appealed which can bring legal attention the ownership will often kill to avoid), not that he lacks an entire laundry list of risk factors. The only real mystery in this case is that we don't know exactly what happened, not that what happened itself is a mystery.
@cjc201 Жыл бұрын
Just Googled this story. Very strange and mysterious, highly unlikely to be aliens. The police officer who investigated firmly believes that there was nothing paranormal in it. Kgb could have been involved also. They think he was held in a barn and died of a heart attack and then his body was dumped.

Coal dust is actually a greenish color if it's fine and thin enough. Perhaps the green substance is petroleum jelly used to salve his wound and it absorbed some coal dust? On a test, that would probably just look like coal and oil, both of which you'd expect to find just about everywhere. It'd be interesting to know how old the wound was. Was it possible to determine whether it was made that day or five days ago? The fact he was fed implies he went wherever he was (semi?) willingly. It'd be interesting to know what his last meal was and how long it had been digesting before he died. A heart attack can be a very stressful event. I wonder if that might cause someone's face to contort like that. The clothes and hair imply some effort to perhaps conceal his identity, but I think it's more likely whoever was feeding him also clothed him in whatever they had. Maybe be decided he had had enough, decided to leave, started hitchhiking, got picked up by some crazy person, and they abducted him, tortured him, and disposed of his body in the coal yard, not aliens. Perhaps someone who would appear to be a coal worker, someone whose presence at the yard wouldn't be questioned? Perhaps someone who could carry in a load and dump it somewhere without arousing suspicion? Maybe the guy who called in the report of a homeless person is the guy who kidnapped this random hitchhiker they found, tortured, and disposed of in the coal yard? I think that's more plausible than aliens.
@bellatrix_2633 Жыл бұрын
If the green substance was petroleum jelly + coal dust, wouldn't we be able to identify it EASILY, why did we have for in dozens of test and find nothing. Plus, if the guy that called the medics was actually the killer, why would he dispose the body in a place where everyone KNEW that the guy worked at, if he actually did that, he would easily get caught. and in case someone else killed him, wouldn't the guy who called the medics have noticed it earlier? Or why would the killer put the body in such a place where a person comes regularly? They will easily get caught. And in case of an heart attack, the most common expression of a person would be holding his heart in pain, not in terror. The eyes don't stay open in case of severe pain "due to natural causes" and even if they do, they don't stay like that, as soon as he died due to heart attack, he would've lost all the expressions. Also, Ziggy's god daughter's wedding was approaching, and they were really close as well. So, he wouldn't abandon the family during that time

no it's not

Of course it is. Just about any explanation is preferable to the silly notion that aliens traveled untold light years just to sneakily pluck an old guy up into their ship and then drop him down on a pile of coal after having killed him.@@alistairscrutton7248
