Once you use a copper or silver based algaecide, you should use CuLator Metal Eliminator and Stain Preventer to eliminate the used up metals from the water. CuLator is non-toxic and easy to use.

Sometimes DE will enter the main drain line of the pool and come out of the bottom drain. It happens. It will settle and you just need to vacuum it up. It should only happen when you charge your filter. I have a couple of pools that do that also.

I used Yellow Treat in my pool this week for mustard algae. How long do I need to keep the chlorine level high? Do I just super chlorinate as I add the treatment and let it drop over the week or do I continue to add chlorine to keep the level high? I had the chlorine level up to 30 ppm after treating.

It can. But the CYA needs to be in the ideal range of 30-50 ppm which it rarely is.

Nice video! I have what appears to be dark algae (black or green) all over the bottom of my pool. I can sweep it all and vacuum, but within an hour the dirt (or algae) reappears. It has been like this for over a month. What would be your best suggestion to eliminate the algae? Thanks!

Thanks for the advice. I was looking at your video with the yellow brine? Do you think this could also work? The algae looks more like dirt and easily sweeps away, so I'm not sure if the tablet with the roller would work. Was thinking of shocking the pool with heavy concentration of chlorine. What do you think?

That should do the trick & adding a little Yellowtrine -Sodium Bromide. It is also sold under the label of Yellow Treat and Nava Yellow Algae Remover - active ingredient Sodium Bromide

My problem is not killing the algae , I can do that . My problem is removing the dead algae from the bottom of the pool the next day . I use a product called " Sink and sweep " it works pretty good , but my pool is a older system and doesn't have a back wash to discharge the water out of the pool , all I have is that filter and a purge valve on top . So when I vacuum, most of the dead algae bypasses the filter and goes back in circulation into the pool . Now hear I am 20 minutes later my pool is cloudy again . What can I do ?

You will need to hire a pool guy that has one of these: www.advantageman.com/category_s/61.htm IT is a portable pool pump. I use one that I made with a 3/4 hp pump. It is the only way in your case. The dirty water will just go into your sewer waste and bypass the filter.

Don’t ever use a floculating agent if you can’t backwash your filter. Instead just use algacide immediately followed by several rounds of shock. Keep the filter running continuously until water goes from green to cloudy gray (usually 1-2 days). You will need to clean the filter twice a day during that time. Then add clarifier to turn the gray water to crystal clear.

Out of the 4 products you recommend in this video, which one do you believe is best? I live in California and am constantly getting yellow algae breakouts. I have a 33,000-gallon plaster pool. I heard Yellow treat is good for California, but I wanted to ask what your opinion was? Thank you for all the videos!

Yellow Treat - but if it is a constant problem you may want to drop a PoolRx in the pump basket.

The Yellowtrine has higher percent of the bromide. Can I ask why you suggest the yellow treat over the Yellowtrine? Also, since I am having this issue throughout the pool, do you think the yellow out would be ineffective? Sorry for all the questions. Thank you again

When killing and preventing algae, whats your experience on copper vs. polyquat algaecides? Will one work better than the other?

Copper works best for existing algae -Polyquat will prevent algae growth in a pool with no algae - it can kill the algae also but in larger doses.
