***Sorry for any confusion. Obviously I means to say gundog4314 (not 4313)!
A BIG thank you goes out to KZbinr gundog4314 for sending this to me to review!
/ gundog4314
This is a U.S. military Food Packet, Long Range Patrol (LRP). It is Menu No.8, Spaghetti With Meat Sauce, and was packaged in 2011. These new versions of LRPs replace older LRRP (Long Range Recon Patrol) rations, and they are also designed to replace MCWs (Meal, Cold Weather). LRPs are very similar to MREs, and use some of the same components. The main difference is that the main entree in these is freeze-dried and needs to be reconstituted with hot water before eating. MREs are "ready-to-eat" and don't require any real heating/cooking/preparation before eating. It doesn't contain a lot of components, but the freeze-dried entree gives you more than twice the amount of food as a regular 8 ounce MRE entree. I thought the spaghetti was very good. If you prefer freeze-dried food to the canned food taste you get with MREs this might be better. I like the fact that it tastes slightly different (not necessarily better or worse) than the typical MRE pasta taste (which is usually very much like a canned, prepared sort of taste.
Food Packet, Long Range Patrol (LRP)
Menu No.8 Spaghetti With Meat Sauce
-Spaghetti With Meat Sauce (Freeze Dried)
-Vegetable Crackers
-Chocolate Peanut Spread
-Nut Raisin Mix
-Plain M&Ms
-Orange Beverage Base Powder
-LRP Accessory Pack (Instant Coffee, Creamer, Sugar, Salt, Chewing Gum, Matches, Moist Towelette, Toilet Paper (2)

Found your page from Gundog4314. Subscribed. I got some Vegetable Crackers and Vanilla Pound Cakes from the same place my housemate got his case of MREs. I also have one of the current MRE long spoons and one of the tiny Tabasco Sauce bottles from another MRE a few years ago. I had to order more of the pound cakes from another supplier because the previous one didn't carry them individually anymore. Shame. I love your videos; keep them coming! Regards.

Why are your videos so compelling? I can chain watch these for hours. When I was young my Dad used to trade some lobsters he caught for a few boxes of British Army rations from some Marines on exercise in the area, I remember I used to like the cinnamon fruit crackers a lot, and the chocolate was good too.

Thank you for saying so. I realize that a lot of people just want to see the MRE opened and eaten, which would make for a much shorter video. While most of mine are longer than I'd like them to be, I do always try to give some information that I think would be helpful.

I'm guessing these are made dry because they are made to be taken on long patrols. Patrols where you have to carry everything on you ranging from your weapon and ammo to extra socks and radio batteries. If they were to use MREs that would add a lot of weight to the meal.
