To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Caravan of Garbage. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also James' nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Marvel comic book literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Caravan of Garbage truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Mason's existencial catchphrase "Grab That Gem," which itself is a cryptic reference to James Gunn's American epic Guardians of the Galaxy I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Mr Sunday Movies' genius unfolds itself on their computer screens. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a Caravan of Garbage tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the Big Sandwich subscribers' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they've watched as many Caravan of Garbage videos as I have (preferably less) beforehand.

I was a background extra on the first Spiderman movie for the days they were filming the parade sequence and I can tell you because I remember vividly to this day why the background actors draw so much attention. The music they were playing on the day was this generic elevator type party music that in no way fit the atmosphere and then Macy Gray stumbled on stage and unintelligibly mumbled into the microphone for a while and we were just all reacting to what was happening in front of us. Still, got to meet and shake Stan Lee's hand and thank him so it's an experience I'll always treasure.

@@FTT4 It's called the Howie Scream, among other things. It's purportedly the second most used stock scream effect in movies, games, and TV. I recognized it from the PS1 Crash Bandicoot games (certain enemies do the scream when dispatched). You might also recognize it from Starcraft (selecting terran academy), or Call of Duty 4 (when a challenge is completed). It supposedly originates from a 1980 film called _The Ninth Configuration,_ but I can't find any source that verifies this- it's just the first known instance of the scream being used. The nickname "Howie Scream" comes from the movie _Broken Arrow_ and is in reference to the death of the Howie Long character in which the scream is used.

@bigkmoviesandgames
@bigkmoviesandgames 3 жыл бұрын
@@jewsco I didn't say it was just like the comics. it isn't completely accurate to them but it captures the feel and over the top nature of the old Spider-Man comics. I suppose should've worded it better. You could tell sam raimi was a fan and his version of peter feels like a shy nerd and his Spider-Man cracks dumb jokes and is heroic just like spidey should be. None of the live action spider-men are completely comic accurate and yes this version took some liberties but it got the spirit of the comics right and was a fun action adventure that accomplished bringing the wall crawler to the big screen. If you don't like this version that's fine but I do think raimi delivered better than any other director has with the character.
