Love your channel! I came across you while searching for how to deal with an uneven osb subfloor I’m trying to get ready for laminate 🤦🏻‍♂️it’s a mess and I’m stuck on it. I wish I could use self leveling compound. Excellent content though, your work is great and you really hustle too!💪🏻

OSB or PLYWOOD Which is BEST for Self Leveling Compound? - kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2XGYqp8l9etns0

@@MrYoucandoityourself thank you for that!!🙏🏻 I didn’t know there was a self leveling compound that could be used over osb! I’m not actually trying to level the floor, just trying to flatten the low spots so I don’t know if slc is really the way to go or just floor patch maybe? I’m lost😓lol What caulk do you use in the seams and what foam around the perimeter? Thank you again!

I am using regular caulk from Home Depot Depot, foam gasket tape I am buying from any lumber store. This foam for insulation wood from the concrete foundation.

If you had a large area of your floor (concrete) that is 1.5” too high how would you go about leveling the whole room? Grind the high spots down?

Hi, is it on the middle of the room or on the sides?
@GarrekCherry

@@MrYoucandoityourself more towards the middle. It’s 4 cracks that lead to one spot.

I have a 24' x 48' cabin that was built with only a 7/16" subfloor. I will be levelling the cribbing under the cabin bc the flooring slopes to the outside walls which should result in needing far less compound. The Sika site says a sub-floor must be at least 1 1/4" to accommodate their product. Will the compound break up if i dont upgrade the sub-floor? I'm laying loose lay vinyl.

Hi Paul, it's hard to recommend something because each project is unique and I need to see the situation on the job site. For your protection, you have to follow instructions from the manufacturer, otherwise, your job is not covered by manufacturer insurance.

Ok, but i'm not certain that the floor construction would meet bldg code for MB. The floor is built on 3 beams set 12' apart where all the current cabin construction I have reviewed has beams set at 8'. My cribbing follows the beams at 6' intervals. I suppose I should level the floor adjusting the cribbing and then decide how solid the floor is. Right now, vibration from the floor causes pics on the wall to move and my kitchen island contents vibrate when i walk by. then I better read the fine print on product guarantee. thanx@@MrYoucandoityourself

Hi, if you floor so much bouncing better ask carpenter how to fix it and then maybe you don’t need leveling. Also think about insulation for a cold season.

I would suggest to many in the DIY crowd to use the slow setting version of the self leveling concrete. Mapei makes a slower setting version called Novoplan2. Instead of being tile ready in 2 to 3 hours, it's tile ready in 24 hours. The setting time and time you have to work with it is also slower. (Not all product makers have a slow setting version of their self leveling product. ) I've helped two people recently install some self leveling. The first was a laundry room, and we used the UltraPlan1 Plus, and it was setting up super fast. The second was in a bathroom, and we used the Novoplan2. It was much easier to work with, having time to flow out nicely over the entire area.
