Question: What is max no. displays (4K @ 60Hz) which can be connected to this board, to be driven from iGPU using 9900X CPU? I understand this board has 1x HDMI and 2x USB 4 (supporting DP over USB). In principle, each USB 4 port could output to two 4K displays @ 60Hz (using an MST USB-C to dual DP adaptor). So I wonder whether it might be possible to drive FOUR, or even FIVE 4K @ 60Hz displays from the iGPU? (of course, another limitation is max no 4K @ 60Hz displays supported by 9900X iGPU itself, I heard this might be a max of FOUR, but unconfirmed?) I am planning new build using Ryzen 9900X and X870/X870E Mobo. Will not be used for gaming, for productivity only. I won’t install a discrete graphics card, will rely only on integrated graphics.

It's cheaper than the X670E Ace that I was going to buy at 1300 dollars, so for 920 dollars for what this offers is a pretty fair price. Too many people here expecting to get top range hardware for next to nothing.

I bought mine yesterday and will be getting it tomorrow. I heard and was told that if you ran bith Gen5 m.2 slots at the same time that itll revert the 1st GEN5 slot to 8x instead of 16x. Is that true? I need to know so i know if i can buy 2 gen 5 m.2 if i if need 1 hen 5 and 1 gen 4.
@Audiosan79Ай бұрын
That is true. I have yet to find a X870 board that can run more than 1 gen5 M.2 without cutting the GPU bandwith in half. It's just stupid that they have 2 and 3 gen5 M.2 slots. Try running a 4090 (gen4 GPU) at PCI-e x8. Also the stupid USB4 is using 4 PCI-e gen5 lanes.
@fourwheelerjockАй бұрын
@Audiosan79 Yea I got a 4090 lol. So I guess I'll run a gen4 for my operating system as it really can't utilize those gen 4 speeds anyways and use the top Gen5 for my video editing drive (I editing 4-8K video so I can use those speeds) But I agree, If you can't run 2 gen 5s then don't put them on the board imo. But at least I can run 1 Gen 5 and the other 2 Gen4s and still have that 16x slot for the GPU
@Hullbreachdetected12 күн бұрын
Pcie 1 lane shares bandwidth with pcie lane 2 and m.2_2. If you use either, you will get gen 5 x8 bandwidth. I suggest you always download and read the mobo manual prior to purchase. Btw, if you use pcie 1 at full bandwidth you still get 3 nvme slots and pcie 3 at gen 4 x4. So you can use an expansion card with an nvme gen 4 drive at full bandwidth.
@Hullbreachdetected12 күн бұрын
@Audiosan79 yea AMD specs for x870 layout require 4 CPU lanes sacrificed for usb4. Like who wants that? 99% want more pcie and m.2 bandwidth.
@fourwheelerjock12 күн бұрын
@Hullbreachdetected Yea I agree, USB 3.2 is just fine at 10GB as most Gen 5 SSD are 12,000MBPS anyways. Oh well, I done got it so it is what it is. I'll just use the Gen 5 slot for my video editing and use the Gen 4s for my main and game drive and retain x16 PCIE slot
@diamondblack3776Ай бұрын
Don't like these new boards cutting the PCIE lanes and slots as if these are console motherboards. I need at least 2 x8 pcie and a third pcie for 2nd GPU (it can run at 4x) 2 GPUs and a RAID card with 20x HDDs because its a computer, NOT A CONSOLE. Then i would like a 4th pcie free for future expansion. Still using my X99.

How much can you downgrade a motherboard and charge more for it before people stop buying them. The GIGABYTE B650 AORUS ELITE AX for $200 even came with 8-Layer PCB which I would have bought if it didn't have a 15 year old audio codec so I guess upgrading from ALC897 to ALC 1220 is better then nothing.
