I’m a Catholic and went to Catholic school for 12 years. Religion was a part of my classes every day for those 12 years. I know quite a bit about the Bible and I’m fairly well-versed. Now the funny part I am in my 50s and no longer believe in my religion Per se. what some of these Republicans don’t realize is when were children and young adults we are impressionable, but as we get older, we learn a lot of things. One of the things I learned was that the Roman Catholic Church in my opinion was a scam loaded with child abusing priest. It was at that time that I decided religion for me was going to be what I want, and what I felt and believed, just like these people will. The moral of the story is, you cannot control people they will eventually through wisdom, courage, and a gathering of information make their own decisions and their own beliefs.

If they really wanted to teach America’s foundational documents alongside the Bible, they could have done it with literally any Bible without having to buy the American documents. Also, it’s very weird to include the American texts in an ancient religious text as if they’re inspired directly by God the way the Pentateuch and the Gospels are. The American texts are important to understand how our government is supposed to operate, but they’re not holy texts. They’re an instruction manual and a pep talk, not a revelation of spiritual or moral truth.

When I met my husband (US soldier) in Germany while he was stationed there he was shocked that German schools have religious classes (although they are optional to attend) he told me about the separation of church and state in America. I think optional is okay, but forced is not okay at all 😔

Religion doesn't belong in public schools. Saying the Pledge of Allegiance is fine, but that's as far as I am willing to go. Any idea that Trump bibles should be distributed throughout public schools is just ridiculous! Church & State are 2 separate things. That's why our forefathers came to this country in the first place! For the freedom to be able to choose our own religions freely, without being influenced by the government! When I attended a Public School in the early 60's we were given a separate room & time before school began, to meet & say prayers or whatever, if we chose to do so. I think that's fair. There were never any squabbles or anything of the like over our religious beliefs. Everything took place outside the school rooms & regular hours. Other than that, there were Private Schools, or what were called Parochial Schools, that Parents paid tuitions for their children to attend.

I saw this coming! Here in Texas, Hot Wheels - our governor has put "charter schools" a priority in upcoming legislation. Private/religious schools are great, i went to Catholic Schools.
