In the novel, even Crusoe had cannibals and animals to talk to, as well as other things to occupy his mind. Solitary confinement is a torture the only way to scrape through is by basically being like one of those Buddhist monks that self-immolate, get buried alive, or live in a cave for 30 years by meditating into a state where the physical world loses meaning. Even by doing that, assuming you survive, you are no use to the physical world ever again. Humans aren't rigged up to be completely alone.

In a way, but the f'ng drama gets tedious. I think as a younger man it can be more fun, and it was - but it's like higher stakes high school with no girls. Never did prison but I did do an intense, 9 month locked down community living rehab that had tons of guys from prison as part of a program.

I was on neurontin for a little bit. Shit made me feel like a 3rd person piloting my body every day and I hated it

It's physically addictive too, if you're on it long enough. Also, the feeling you get depends on how much you take. 300-600mg and you'll just get a little tired and loopy. Take 1200-2400mg (not suggesting this at all) and you feel like you're drunk, but it's like a body drunk, not a head drunk. Also makes you real talkative and almost speedy. Lasts all day too. I'm doing it correctly now and just take a small dose at night for RLS.

I have a big shamrock on my arm because my family is mostly Irish and I thought it looked cool. I have a cousin who has been in and out of prison and one time when he came home he was like damn man you can’t ever go to prison or you’ll have to join AB. I did some research and sure enough it’s like their main symbol. So now I have anxiety that people think I have an aryan tattoo on my arm because I was a dumb 18 year old.

This is so accurate. I went to a place in saginaw mi called Tri-Cap and it was exactly like this. Calling it treatment but its just jail with some interns doing their practice for counseling. They were scamming food banks so they could skim off the food budget. Its so bad. And people dont know cuz people nevwr hear about these stories or if they do they are hearing through the bias of 'this person is a convict and prison shouldnt be comfortable' and that is true to a degree... But thats part of the problem as well these places arent supposed to be prison. I did well eventually but my story is remarkably similar to this guys. I really was trying to take as much from the programs as i could but there are so many guys in there that shouldnt be it makes it so hard to really focus on your own recovery and development... Hell like this guys says... Classes maybe three times a day... Dudes will be saints in front of these young therapists in traininng for an hour during class and then be off the chain back on the block. I have seen many times a therapist champion some guy who has them completely blinded because all the therapist sees is their behavior in the class... Those dudes generally will haze the ones actually trying to make changes. Think elementary school playground mentality turned up to eleven but with shivs. Lord of the flies for those that get the reference.

He was selling home made high fructose corn syrup to a local coca cola plant and was busted by the FDA and while he was being raided they found he was hosting an illegal fight club with animals where he would charge people entrance and they'd pay to watch him fight cats and dogs and stuff. The animals didn't fight each other only him but he'd have to fight like 20 cats and a few dogs all at once. It was a big story it was all over the news when it broke. They said he was one of the biggest counterfeit high fructose corn syrup suppliers in the world. They tested his high fructose corn syrup and it was actually healthier than the legal stuff. The crazy thing is when he finally got out he realized I made all of this up about him.
