Rules that only allowed low kicks while Rick can execute all types of kicks even to the head? Well, that s a v v big advantage. However, muay Thai fighters never never give up in fight till they can't get up. Just, just low kicks, can beat a world Champ. That s muay Thai toughness.... Salute ...........

@@Ngan.marianguyen It is tho. There are several forms of muay thai, all quite distinct from one another. A few examples would be Muay tae(focuses alot on the roundhouse kick. A good reference would be Samcor). Muay Koh(focuses alot on the clinch. Dieselnoi is the most decorated in this cathegory). And Muay femur(Focuses on evasive and gracious techniques such as the cartwheel kick, jumping roundhouse etc. Saenchai is the best reference for this one). Muay Matt(Focuses on boxing and strikes with the hands. Coban is a good reference). And then we have Kiatsongrit which is a muay bouk(A fighter which relentlessly keeps pushing the pace forward and gladly throw lowkicks and inside hooks etc)

Wanted to prove that Muay Thai was nothing … then proceeded to have the kick-boxer being larger than the Muay Thai dude and put so many restrictions to disable Muay Thai ie no elbows, and no knee strikes but it’s not enough to take down the Muay Thai dude. Well, what to say? Kickboxing is a result of Japanese karate fighters losing to Muay Thai fighters, so they combined both Muay Thai, Karate and Boxing to create first (Japanese) Kickboxing in the world, which came to be known as American kickboxing 🤷‍♂️

I advocate that everyone who has seen this watch the full fight, available on KZbin. The commentators were massively biased in favour of Roufus, and the rules for the fight had clearly been made as to benefit him more than Kietsongkrit, yet, despite all of that and Roufus' good start, the Muai Thai fighter won by simply breaking Roufus down with leg kicks. You could tell that the Americans tried to stack the deck against the Thai fighter, so they could massage their egos and say that they ruled the world of fighting, only to have that notion broken, and Roufus' legs nearly got broken with it!

In the past, boxing was all about a heavy blow to the head to knock out. Muay Thai introduce the idea that you can disable your enemy by attacking nearly anywhere. Chest, leg, anywhere is disabling once you hit it enough times and it becomes increasingly painful. And just because a leg kicks another leg, it doesn't mean both legs take the equal damage. Muay Thai really opened up the UFC scene we have today.

The brother said we don’t gonna fight in their rules with elbows because we cannot. But he takes advantage making the Thai man to fight in his rules. Both has different skills because kick boxing and Muay Thai boxer has different skills. He knew that Thai man started the fight slowly and not professional of punches and tricks like boxers, but he doesn’t know that Thai use one weapon that he good at is kicking. Westerners do not know that Thai people are expert at kicking. My heart hurt to see Thai man got punched in the face and couldn’t use his elbows and knees those are his skills at best.

@@flowrepins6663 Yes. Muay Thai is not a Kickboxing rip-off. However, that's not how everybody around the world saw it 60-70 years ago. For 20 years from 1960s to 80s, Muay Thai was totally forgotten and ignored as Kickboxing start to become popular in the west after it being promote by the Japanese. Worse, as MT fighter start to take the fight outside their country. They would get insult by critic, audience or even narrator for using "a kickboxing technique from Japan" when they take Muay Thai stance and style. It was humiliating for us as it was OUR art, OUR martial art. Not anybody else.

@@johncarter4956 traditional muay thai like boran is a lot different than kickboxing in many ways. in general thai is the best stand up combat. kickboxing has 4 weapons, kicks and punchs. muay thai has 8 with knews and elbows more powerful. not to mention clinch and low kick. having said that i would say american kickboxing was more prety and aesthetic at least.

Very good video! Your view to narrate the positive aspects of fighting is incredible. Although it’s not a very sportsman-like perspective, I would like to point out that I think at 4:36 after the “superior knockdown”, after they connect Rick goes for a low kick aimed at the FACE, WHILE the Thai fighter is falling. I also wouldn’t be surprised if it connected, and it was the kick to the face and not the super man punch that broke his jaw I believe this is the reason why the low kicks, illegal stomp and illegal throw were thrown out. He really wanted to teach Rick what it meant to try something like that Thai Fighter and thereason why he continued the low kicks. He was extremely disrespected that his opponent would try something like that and decided to teach him a lesson, ingrained in his knees

he clearly pulled it and it didn't even touch him. also kicks and knees to the head when a fighter is in transition are legal and they do it in muay thai all the time. while changpuek actually stomped on a completely horizontal, on the ground, roufous. which has never been legal in muay thai or kickboxing. changpuek acted shamefully in this matter, perhaps still angered by rufous breaking his jaw. not all muay thai fighters are honorable zen masters. they are human too.
