In MAC's coding, W stands for warm (pink/red undertone), NW stands for neutral warm (still pinky but more neutral), N for neutral (I believe it exists in only a few of its foundation formulas), NC for neutral cool (yellow undertones). It is pretty consistent, but there are definitely shades that are only available in certain foundation formulas, and also out-of-the-standard numbering, see, usually deepness goes up by 5, e.g. 10, 15, 20 etc. But in certain countries there are in between numbers because a large proportion of the population is an inbetween shade e.g. 27 (between the standard 25 and 30 that would be available), also, these are not necessarily available elsewhere. Hope this helped somewhat 😊 Btw, been here since the beginning, your videos are always very helpful! 😊

@@solangefagundes2470 MAC's W and NW shades have pinker/redder undertones. C's and NC's are more yellow/olive. The MAC terminology makes more sense to me as I think of red tones as warm and more yellow/green tones as cooler but it's just whatever works for you ! X

@@AngieDiB Is that a pre-made palette from a pro store? Are those creams lighter or thinner on the skin than Kryolan's formula? I'll have to check the ingredients. The RCMA looks like a great formula. How does this compare? Iove MAC liquid foundations and their concealers too. I'll have to check this out. I know so many pros recommend this foundation.
@gentlestormwyatt

Cynthias stylemua I have this palette. It’s a thick formula (not sure how much thicker compared to the Kryolan though). I also have an RCMA palette. 🤔 the two compare equally to me with coverage. This palette is creamier to me though. This is full coverage and I find that a little goes a long way. This is definitely a pre-made palette from the pro stores but is ALWAYS out of stock. In LA, I called and had my name put on the list to come in and purchase when they called me and told me they were in stock. Then they sold out again. This was at the Pro Store on Melrose (which has now been closed and moved to the Grove). I hope I helped 🙈

I prefer lighter more fluid sunscreens with not a lot of fragrance for my kit just because they are light on the skin and comfortable to wear. Why did you use a fluffy brush for foundation ? Does that make it more natural then a dense kabuki brush
@AngieDiB

All of the brushes are more dense to me, with a little bit of movement. They would be somewhere in-between a blush brush and Kabuki. This style of brush just works for my style of application on myself and my clients. It allows me to get the best blend.

I have a hard time with older women who have a tan/red chest with freckles. It's hard to make their face and chest match! What would you suggest?
@AngieDiB
@AngieDiB 4 жыл бұрын
That would be hard for me to answer because there are so many things to consider including the type of job you are doing (wedding, commercial etc.). You would still need to find their correct undertone and foundation match, and play around with different finishes (sometimes a more sheer foundation can work with these clients), or perhaps attack it from a different angle and focus on brightening and highlighting the chest area to minimize the difference in tone. It really does depend on the specifications of each client and the job you are working on but those are just a few suggestions.

Hi Angie, why do you like using cream foundations over liquid? Don't you find them heavier on the skin? Do you use these foundations daily on yourself? I find liquids much more natural and lighter on the skin. Is this better for TV and print work? Great explanation. 😁 💜
@AngieDiB
@AngieDiB 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Cynthia. I wanted to use a full coverage cream so the technique was more visible on camera (hopefully I mentioned this in the video). I use both creams and liquids in my kit on my clients for all jobs, it really depends on my client's skin and what is needed for the job. For myself personally I use liquid foundation, but will use a cream if I feel like it!
@cynthiasstylemua9822
@cynthiasstylemua9822 4 жыл бұрын
@@AngieDiB Thank you for clarification. I thought you used liquids too. Is there a particular case or time that creams are better? I used to have both, but rarely used the cream foundations (I had Kryolan). They were too heavy for my clients and the type of makeup they prefer (very natural). Great video and I enjoy watching your techniques. 😁 💜 I just do the same with liquids. Thanks for addressing neutral undertones. I'm sure it was helpful to people who don't have a neutral undertone, but may need to adjust foundations. Great job! 💜
@AngieDiB
@AngieDiB 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! As far as when I use creams I couldn’t list specific instances where I would choose that over liquid (sometimes I mix them, or use both on the skin at once) for me what I use is so dependant on many different things. Even with the creams I carry in my kit they have different finishes on camera, textures, colour ranges etc.

Angie Di Battista I’d sooooooo love a video explaining this. Sometime I have clients on camera, some going to weddings, some just a party, some not being photographed at all.... I’ve been playing around with formulas. So far my Graftopian palette looks amazing on camera...as well as my RCMA palette. I even have Blk Opal cream foundations which I’ve deported and those look pretty amazing on camera too. But I play around with the finishes depending on the scenario/event as well as cameras flashing, and most importantly my clients skin type. Idk what’s wrong/right but for now I’ve just been doing what I feel is right and what looks good....and depends on my lighting situation. Sorry for the long explanation. 🥴🙈

I always thought and was told that buffing foundation in with a brush acts as an exfoliator and gives you flaky skin, is avoiding this down to skin prep?? Or has what ive been told a myth 🙈
@AngieDiB
@AngieDiB 3 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on the skin type you are working with and how well you prep the skin. I don't find this method causes skin to flake. If the skin is flakey to begin with, I would most likely stipple with a sponge instead.

@Intothegrau 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Angie. I tried posting a comment before but it disappeared when I clicked "comment". (If it turns out you're moderating, just delete this one:-)). Thank you so much for the video. I'll try this technique on myself over the weekend with my Ben Nye Olive-Brown palette. I have a question though. I'm African American and my skin tone is darker around my mouth than the rest of the "center" of my skin. For example, let's say the center of my neck is shade "1". The area around my mouth is shade "2". Then, going up my face, my nose and the rest of the center of my face is shade "1". There's not *that* much of a difference, but it's noticeable. If I applied the lighter foundation in the center, wouldn't the area around my mouth appear gray?
@AngieDiB
@AngieDiB 4 жыл бұрын
Hey! It would totally depend on the foundation and how much pigment/coverage you can get from it. I’m not familiar with the Ben Nye Foundations so I don’t know how it would work with them. A few options to consider (I do this when I work on clients of any skin tone that have a darker tone around the mouth) try a mix of shades 1 & 2 in that area, you can also try conceler over your foundation in the appropriate shade, and the last option would be concealer or foundation over a color corrector in that area (i’m taking a guess here but something deeper orange may work). Hope this helps!
