Multiplier Bearings - Episode 2 of 2: ABEC 7 & 9 Bearings

Disclaimers: I am not suggesting you do this modification (or any modification) as doing so will most likely void your warranty.
I am not an expert on this matter, I just want to share the results that I have gotten from my little experiment/s.
Not all multipliers have bearings on their spools.
Also, a flick of the thumb to make the spool spin is not an accurate method of testing bearings, it does give you an idea of how it performs.
Here I show the difference in performance of ABEC 7 & 9 bearings on the Akios Nitron F15 reel - dry & with lubrication (Rocket Oil)
However, the principle should be the same with any other multipliers with bearings on their spool.
The spool is loaded with approximately 300 metres of 40lbs braid. And the reel has not been fine-tuned/centred as of the shooting of this video.

Which Hybrid ceramic bearings do you recommend brand ?

Hi I'm buying a pair of these reels end of month would you recommend upgrading the bairings and if so what bairings would you recommend any li ks to getting them please

Hi, do you mean the Akios Nitron F-15 reel? Honestly, if you are planning on fishing with them, the stock spool is more than enough. If you want it faster, just clean the grease off the stock bearings with lighter fluid and add a light oil. I would not recommend upgrading the bearings on this reel unless you are an expert tournament caster. These are excellent reels that I am actually building a surf rod to go with it. I would, however, suggest you buy it with the power handle. 👍

@@x3mgrifter hi mate yes buying with a power handle and been casting with a tuned 6500 Abu mag and getting better distance than my standard fathom 15 and not nesting getting a pair so was going to try one with standard bearings cleaned and rocket fuel and one with 7s and see how I got on and can always put standard back in if to fast

@@shauntodd7304 You should be fine, then. I went back to the stock bearings as I found the ABEC 7 and 9 hard to control - even with the mag breaks fully on. I haven't had a bird's nest nor lines lifting with either bearings. It's just that every time I thumb the spool once the lead hits the water, the split second it takes for my thumb to press "fully" on the spool, the lines on top would have stoped but the spool underneath would've spun a few more turns causing the lines underneath to be loose. Hope that made sense.

@@shauntodd7304 I think the others that hated it went with their "standard" handle - which is ok... just not really enjoyable to use. I swapped the handle for an aftermarket power handle and it felt like a totally different - and much better - reel. I love it so much that I wanted a continental rod to go with it (tackle tart moment). I went with the Akios Hellrazor as it was the closest thing that goes with its color scheme. Now I am building a "Nitron" surf rod which just became "test" ready so hopefully I can cast it out by next week.

Used TG Rocket fuel in Sons downhill board. Flush out old oil/grease the put in rocket fuel.
