This is same as 'Khichdi' we Indians make, we also add a pinch of turmeric to it and pressure cook. Different vegetables, seasonings can be combined. Different pulses including split mung beans with skin are combined with rice as well. And similar to crunchy gim bugak, we roast/fry papad to eat with it!

This is so cool! I knew exactly what you were going to make as soon as you said it's given to babies. We feed babies in Bangladesh this exact thing except we may add a pinch of turmeric and a bit of veggies making sure it all becomes mushy/porridgy for the baby. I remember watching my brother being fed this food every afternoon!

Thanks for the video. In Vietnam, we also eat this simple mung bean porridge with some crunchy bread (not actually bread, it's quẩy in Vietnamese). During summer, people usually eat the porridge with a kind of plum pickle (cà muối). They're very delicious.

Love you Mangchi, Namaste from India. This dish is so much heart warming bcoz we eat Mung (Moong) & Rice called as "Moong Daal Khichadi" as our comfort healthy food. This recipe is the best friendship version of 2 different Asian cuisines.

Hi Maangchi: a similar dish in indian cuisine exists and it is called " Kichidi". Vegetables are cooked with Mung beans and rice. it is served with Ghee( clarified Butter). i cant wait to cook this porridge. it looks yummy and i love your recipes.

Ever since you uploaded this, I've been wanting to make mung bean porridge for so long. I was finally able to find peeled mung beans and I have exams now so I'm making this right now! I wish I had gim to make the seaweed chips though but I don't. I'm sure it'll turn out delicious anyways! :)

Hi! In India, we make exactly the same rice dish and we call it Mang bean Khichdi. We add little cumin seeds and turmeric. it's eaten as a lite meal or during cold and sickness. Add a teaspoon of ghee over it.

Maangchi, I love your videos and recipes. I enjoy watching Korean dramas and I see all kinds of foods they are eating on the dramas. I wanted to try the Korean food so I came across your channel and started making traditional kimchi, bibimbap, bread rolls than pork bone soup...mmmm it's very delicious! I would certainly make this mung bean soup for my baby soon she is now 6 month and starting solids she would definitely like this porridge😊

Here in Indonesia, we also have our version of mung bean porridge. But it is served as a sweet dish. The consistency is thicker. We use palm sugar as sweetener and pandan leaves for aroma. The porridge is often served with a dash of coconut milk to add creaminess and to balance the sweetness from the palm sugar. It can be served warm or cold.

It is. Oh i forgot to mention that we do not use regular rice, just 100% mung bean in Indonesian style mung bean porridge. Please google "bubur kacang hijau", (we translate mung bean into kacang hijau or green bean) the Indonesian for mung bean porridge.
