Thank you for the nutritional facts for cooked versus sprouted. Our health food store carry these and I’ve walked right past them several times without trying some.. I’ll most likely sprout but may try them at least once cooked.

Judi, this is a good information. I’m at present plowing my way through 5 lbs of mung beans. You mention the fiber in 1 cup of mung beans-not sure whether that’s dry, cooked or sprouted-but a cup of mung beans is a LOT! Maybe a half cup of sprouted, or a quarter cup whole. Seems to me the sprouts are much tastier. Mung may not be the best been I ever tasted 😉
@JudiintheKitchen
@JudiintheKitchen Жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for watching and commenting! The fiber would be in prepared, ready to eat mung beans. Most data bases would be referring usually to cooked, unless stated otherwise, so assume they are cooked. Definitely not dry! I'm glad the video was helpful to you! Enjoy those mung beans :)

@@sarahbhutta251 yes Sarah and Judi. I sprout them at least once week . It stays in fridge very fresh for 3-4 days . I just soak the seeds overnight. I take big pot and put the soaked mung in it. Fill it with washer and just skim the top layer of mung to another pot . I do this until all the soaked mung is in the second pot ( by the way I use the same water for skimming ( put it back to first pot) then you are all done , you will have Unsoaked hard soaked Ming in the bottom. Discard them to compost pile . Rinse and drain . Transfer to a very thin cloth ( like cotton bandana or scarf or cheese cloth. Gather all the corners and twist . Make it into a bundle.Put it in Pot or some container twisted side down. Put a heavy can on top . Leave it in in the oven or dark place for 30 40 hrs. You will have healthy sprouts . They taste great raw , use in Salad or add to finely chopped cucumber with cilantro , salt and lemon juice with touch of brown sugar. Mix well and use as a summer snack or a side dish. Extremely healthy full of phyto nutritients. In naturopathy mung beans has very special place. Now westerners are trying to make burgers and cheese for vegan consumers.I use it in hundreds of recipes. Hope this helps . Comment if you have any questions . I will be happy to answer.

Sorry if I'm not sounding excited! Really! I have a truly deep love for all things nutrition, health and wellness. It's fabulous to me that all plant foods have their own strengths regarding nutrition and health benefits. If I sounded unexcited, maybe I was a bit tired at the moment. When I record, I often cut many videos at one time. My tops was 26 at one stretch. So, maybe this was one of those days. Sorry! I'll bear that in mind in future recordings! Sprouted mung beans are high in calories than boiled?
@JudiintheKitchen
@JudiintheKitchen 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I did a food comparison between cooked mung beans and mung bean sprouts. When comparing the two, one cup of cooked mung beans has more calories than 1 cup of mung bean sprouts. This is probably simply because there are more beans in one cup of cooked mung beans than in one cup of mung bean sprouts. The sprouts have the "tails" or roots extending from them which takes up space when measuring. So, in actuality, you have fewer mung beans in the cup of sprouts, so hence there would be less calories. When comparing one cooked mung bean to one sprouted mung bean, there is likely to be little difference in calories. So, I'd say eat the mung beans in whatever form you choose and consider the calories to be about the same. I hope this makes sense! Thanks for watching :)

Otherwise, they can easily be purchased online from many vendors that sell sprouting seeds. (Just do an internet search for sprouting mung bean seeds) I hope this helps! Can they cure sepsis?
@JudiintheKitchen
@JudiintheKitchen 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Bobby! That's a great question! I would have to say no, I doubt any one food alone can cure sepsis. Trust me on this one...I HAVE had sepsis coupled with pneumonia and nearly died from it in 2013. RUN to the doctor if you have sepsis!! You need emergency antibiotics FAST. Now...as to the bottom line, at least it was for me. It took me a year to completely recover from my illness. During that time I did a lot of research. Based on my scenario leading up to my illness and my sepsis coupled with pneumonia, I learned that my bottom line was a severe deficiency of Vitamin D. With that, my immune system didn't have what it took to fight off the germs that made me sick in the first place. (This may or may not be the case for you.) Ever since then I take a sizeable amount of Vitamin D daily (5,000 IU) in addition to getting regular sunshine when the season is right. No problems since. I truly hope this helps! Take care and blessings to you :)
