The MUSI Virgo Classic seams to hold its own with the Vintage Edition Squier... Or does it ?

I tried the squire at guitar center recently really liked it, great feeling neck shape and love the binding and Dakota Red may be picking it up the only issue was a high 4th fret end on treble side that kept catching on the high E string, need the fret set and and ends filed smooth . I have the exact same issue on my 40th anniversary strat I bought last month on the 3rd fret high E string catching under edge of the fret

Thanks for watching..Maybe II was lucky enough to get one with a great neck. I've noticed more inconsistencies with the newer Fender players and Squier.guitars.

The musi Virgo sounds sweet and have some hardware and shapes much better than the Sqire. I buy my guitars the same as i buy my shoes. I dont buy shoes with the intension ro resell them when I am bored. I don't get it, if you buy a high end or low end you later sell both? Just buy what you like and enjoy them. If you're a talented musician who play a lot of well paid gigs and can write off high end guitars, amps... then get those popular brand gear.

Does your Musi high E ring behind the nut? The staggered tuner doesn't provide enough break angle. Seems mixed with some adding a string tree & other guitars being okay.

That seems to be a common complaint. I don't like the locking tuners on the Virgo. There's too much play in them. I would probably put a good set of standard tuners on and add a string Tree. That's if I was going to keep it LOL.. I only bought it for the review so it's time to see what the resale value is.. I'm pretty sure it won't be good.

Interesting! I have a 40th Anniversary Strat (and love it!), but I have to say that I preferred the clarity of the MUSI in all the examples here. The Squier sounded a bit muddy to my ears, and didn’t do well when you dug in with the pick. Are its pickups weaker than those on the MUSI? Maybe it needs to be boosted a little to level the playing field. Not sure. I think both sounded great when you used the bridge pickup. Thanks for the comparison. Great playing.👏

Hi, Thanks for watching. I just grabbed a 40th Anniversary Squier Strat for another review. $269... Not bad. I have to agree that the Musi did sound a little brighter than the Squier but I still prefer the tone of the Squier. I left the Jetta set pretty flat so it would be an even playing field and I think both guitars suffered just a little. Take a listen to the review I did of just the Squier thru the Maz 18. I think it sounded pretty nice and I probably wouldn't bother swapping out the pickups if I was going to keep it. The Musi on the other hand would need a pickup swap since the bridge pickup is very brittle sounding and the neck a little muddy. There's a review on my channel of the Musi through an old Peavey Classic 30.

Yeah, I had watched the previous Squier video and thought it sounded great there. That’s what made me subscribe to your channel. Maybe I just like that amp better.🤷♂️ Anyway, you certainly got a great deal on that Strat. Looking forward to hearing you play it.

I'm surprised at how good the MUSI sounds compared to the squire. I thought it would be down to feel in the end. I love the look of the Squier. Would you be tempted to try some different pickups in it?

Hello, Yes, if I was to keep the Squier I would probably change out the pickups. For around $80 you can get a set of Tonerider pickups and it would sound as good or better than a Fender Player Tele for half the $.. I don't think it would be worth upgrading the Musi Virgo. The stock pickups aren't bad and resale will be terrible. Thanks for watching!
