DO NOT BUY!!! I bought one 2 weeks ago, I replaced a conventional Maytag washer that finally died after 20 some years. I have tried washing my work clothes on every setting and they don't come clean. The old machine ran less than half the time that this machine runs, and my clothes still come out dirty. I am VERY disappointed.

Get a classic, not the new style, Speed Queen. I wash dirty jeans and Speed Queen gets them clean. Tried a big 5.2 Kenmore in 2009 or 2010 and it just redistributed the dirt, my jeans were still dirty. Happy with the Speed Queen Classic.

Ugh, we just bought this a few days ago and it's simply awful. At this point I can't return it, according to the store policy. What did you do? I'm trying to find if there's a way to bypass the sensor so it'll fill with more water.

I would possibly buy this (I am 14 years old) The reason why i would buy this is bc it almost sounded like GE, and if my clothes do not come out clean on this washer, i will just re-wash it again until it comes clean instead of wasting money on a brand new washer (But it will still waste water)

Same here. Unscrew the stores that hold the lock on the lid. Then you can add more water what you want to and agitated your clothes BY HAND to actually get the soap and dirt out. What a effing nightmare. There's process for you. No clean clothes for the peasants...

Eight months later and the machine still gets high ratings from me, no problems. clean clothes. I use the power wash setting on almost every load. It was the right choice for me. Sad to hear about the Whirlpool, mom and dad had a Wirlpool set that lasted about 18 to 20 years. I'm not 100% sure about giving credit to this machine for it, but my power and water bill have dropped. I think it has something to do with the large load size it can wash.

@@rickjames6948 So does 'deep fill' really only have one interpretation - totally full tub? So if you have just a few items, and want to go higher than 'auto sensing', do you have to go totally full? A really old machine I had a while back would offer low / med / high settings for water level, plus auto.
@rickjames6948
@rickjames6948 3 жыл бұрын
@@chriss740 Deep fill is a full tub. YOUR settings have to be correct to allow deep fill to work. You can tell if it takes a LONG time to fill that massive tub. You will hear water running like 20 minutes LOL. I hear you about the old machines. These new ones are high efficiency meaning they don't need 40 gallons to wash and another 40 to rinse. Just come to the reality what the new machines can do with less water and electricity. Auto Sense works fine for most loads. Actually using less water the clothes rub against each other more, for BETTER cleaning. With a full tub, clothes float around in the water not scrubbing themselves against each other. This is how these new HE machines work. Smarter......

This is excellent! No matter what store you go to you can NOT get a demonstration like this. The viewer can see the water level and action of the washing. I was surprised to see that it would wash with the top open. I had read elsewhere that the lid locked while washing was ongoing. I appreciate the ability to open the lid after the wash cycle has started to add another garment that one may have dropped on the way to the laundry room. No one should be surprised by the amount of water it takes to fill the tub to the max. It’s a large tub.

Though noisy, when I close my laundry room door I can't really hear it. I owned a Sears Kenmore Elite before this one and it took a long time too. It had more bells and whistles but this time I just wanted a washer that would do the job. For my husband and myself it is fine and we didn't pay a fortune for it.

Interesting, Just bought a 2015 Kenmore 400 HE at an Estate sale. Kenmore made by whirlpool as this Maytag model appears to be. I took of the lid latch and put it in it’s receiver, so to observe cleaning process. Like all HE machines and this Maytag, mine didn’t quite put in enough water, but I’ve learned how to trick it into the right amount. My Kenmore has a fairly traditional agitator, described as a three stage, so the machine cleans quite well, with the proper water! Guess I lucked out for fifty bucks.

I just bought this washer 3 weeks ago. It is absolutely awesome. I don’t understand all the problems people say they are having in the comments. It has been flawless ! Load the soap. Put in clothes, it washes them. My clothes come out clean. We have not had any issues with torn up clothes etc etc. it has been flawless. We had a front loading high efficiency washer before and had problems with the front rubber boot, because we overstuffed the washer-our fault. But this Maytag has been absolutely fantastic. It does wash clothes differently, but it’s newer technology. The self adjusting water level works great. 40 minutes to do a load of clothes is great. Our previous washer took an hour. I paid $529 for this. I was expecting to have to pay $1200 for another high efficiency washer. We are happy with it. My wife was actually pissed off I didn’t buy the gas dryer, but I have rebuilt our other one so many times it’s practically new, and it’s 17 years old ! 😊

got this machine since I like old fashioned turn knobs simple mechanism machine and I have total maytag appliances in my household. My last maytag lasted over 20 yrs with one major repaired, the repairman told me they don't make machine like this anymore. Anyway on my second load this morning, what a nightmares I gone through. Washed a load of towels(n less than my normal load I had with my old maytag). Apparently the load was off balanced(I'm guessing since there's not indication on the machine to tell me so), the light sensed done, but when I opened the load was soaked with water still. I removed the items in there, and put them back in and put the knob to "drain/spin" cycle. I notice the machine spun and also filling more water? At the end when signaled "done", I opened still soaking with water. Removed the clothing and started the process again, Same result. Very frustrated and ready to call the Maytag, Then decided to give another try, since this machine is semi-computerized, I did the cancel process hope this will reset the autosensing's function. It drained the water in there and started to spin process, no more filling of water, in the end the towels were all spun properly for dryer. What a ordeals !!!! Want to share this for anyone going thru the same problem.

The top part may be bolted, but this unit does not agitate equally each direction. It goes about 20% more clockwise so it can keep a rotation going to push things down. Also I dont know why people complain it's loud. This is THE most quiet machine I've ever owned since I was an adult. It's even more quiet than the old Maytags my parents had in the 70s and 80s If people want a "middle" water level, thats easy.. put it on auto sense and BULKY.. and it ends up filling 1/2 the tub The auto sense actually works ok if you use it PROPERLY... If you CRAM clothes to the top, you should be using DEEP fill. If you have a small to medium size load, use Auto. The clothes arent meant to be covered in water. This type of washer works by rubbing clothes against each other vs a ton of water.. but like I said, "bulky" is a good middle ground

I've been seeing a lot of complaints on the process to get the deep water wash option to work. I unfortunately don't have a manual to look at, being I'm currently using a supplied washer and dryer in an airbnb. I found out if you set the wash cycle option to Power Wash and also set the Water Level to Deep Water Wash, then it will fully fill up the washer tub. It has been about 2 - 3 weeks that I've just been at a loss how this washer works. I finally decided to, on a whim today, try the Power Wash setting and went upstairs. Came back down and the whole washer tub was loaded with water. :D Also, I couldn't find the comment again on here somewhere, where someone said you have to dilute the softner and then said they had to go to a sink to get water to fill the center agitator with water to dilute the softener. No need to make that extra trip. When you set the setting on the washer, and start the washer with the lid down at the beginning, you can lift up the washer lid and use the lid to your fabric softener container to catch that water the washer is spouting out the back as its filling the tub. You just have to be quick to grab that water once you open the lid of the washer and time it just right to catch that water that you want to use to dilute the softener. I hope this alleviates any confusion for anyone who doesn't have this washer personally and is using this specific washer in passing. 💛

I wanted to come back and say the washer that I'm using at the airbnb didn't fill up all the way with power wash, with the 2nd try. So I set it back to normal and the water at least went over the clothes. I figured if I kept the setting the same, I could then fill the tub up to full every time. The washer probably has a sensor that's bad or something. The washer in the airbnb seems contrary. Works fine one minute but not the next. 🤷‍♀️☹️

There is a simple handyman fix if your agitator is not working. I had this problem with a newer used one I just bought-thought I had wasted my money. KZbin had two different guys showing this. When you tip it over and expose the bottom. If you take the motor transmission plastic cover off (2 screws). You will have to look and probably will see a white plastic oval shape part near the base of the tub. It is supposed to have a white plastic lug next to it INSERTED into that oval. Apparently this can sometimes pop out with a very heavy load. Gently force the plastic lug back into the plastic oval and your problem of the agitator not agitating is solved.

I bought this machine last fall plus the matching dryer and a Maytag fridge. I very much dislike both the washer and the dryer. I would not recommend this to anyone. My last Maytag lasted 33 years and I loved it. Cleaned everything properly, agitated like a washer should. This one tickles the clothes and makes stupid little noises, leaves streaks on them and the dryer takes almost 1 1/2 to 2 times as long to dry a load and neither works for comforters. MAYTAG SHOULD BE ASHAMED! Wish I had returned them but I live far from the city where I got them. :(

We recently bought this model and I am not at all happy with it. We bought it because it has an agitator and had good reviews. We owned a front loader previously and hated it, so I was hoping a top loader with an agitator would work better. Nope. It doesn't matter what size load I have, large or small - the agitator does not go in the same direction which would normally create somewhat of a vortex and pull the clothes down into the water. This agitator goes back and forth, so no clothes get pulled under. I watched through an entire wash cycle as a sock at the top of a large load never moved, it just sat there the whole time and barely got wet. The clothes on the top of the load just get jostled around. And if you choose the deep wash selection, they just all float up to the top and jostle around there. If you have a medium sized load, selecting "auto sense" means not enough water; selecting "deep water" means way too much water. Also, I should NOT have to disassemple a piece of the machine to get the water to flow with the lid open. You're supposed to dilute your fabric softner with water, but every time you open the lid, the water shuts off. So I guess I'm supposed to go back and forth to the sink - my washroom does not have a tap - in order to do that. This is not a practical machine. I hate the he washers. If anyone can recommend a good washer that actually cleans your clothes, I would love to hear about it.

I understand that these are high efficiency, but boy would I love to have an old Kenmore 90 Series Heavy Duty wash machine again. They took a lot less time to wash than these things made from 2011 and forward. I had one of these in 2015 branded as a Kenmore Heavy Duty. Transmission went bad less than 2 years later, and it was out of warranty. I wasn't impressed with this thing to begin with. I replaced it with a Whirlpool front loader that I still have to this day.

@OneWithTheDark 2 жыл бұрын
These things have a shifter mechanism that flexes somewhat and pops loose under heavy loads. During your wash cycle if you only hear buzzing and dont hear water sloshing around it is likely that the shifter arm has popped loose and your drum is turning instead of the agitator... When this occurs you will notice your clothes not being cleaned well, stains, etc. Ours popped loose when running a load of towels. I would not have thought the load to be too heavy... but it was heavy enough to flex the shifter arm just enough for it to pop loose. Repair guy said this is a chronic problem with these models and they have a newer part that resolves the issue.

I have a similar Maytag machine that I purchased in December 2019 to replace a 20 year old Kenmore. Some tips: Make sure it's level when setting it up. Run balanced loads...a few pairs of jeans, shirts, socks, undergarments. Don't overload new HE machines with lots of heavy stuff... They can't handle it. If load is banging on spin, you're overloading it. Use Bulky setting if you do for slower spin, but items will be wetter than normal. SOAP GOES IN FIRST!!! This is very important for those of you who say soap does not wash off. Deep Fill setting for more water. I'm not thrilled with the new machines, but have learned to live with it by using the above to tolerate it. So you know, Whirlpool now owns these brands in US: Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana, and Roper. All of the machines work similarly, and the higher up brands just have more features. Let me add that I will most likely NEVER buy another Whirlpool made product unless this design is changed. I actually think the agitator IS the problem in these machines because it causes clothes to ball up and congregate on one side of the drum. And the weak spring system causes excessive wobbling once this happens. I actually have a better idea for a machine... And if Whirlpool wants to pay me for my idea, I'd be happy to share.

I sold my 20 years old Maytag which was still running fine, the good old Maytag before Whirlpool bought the company in 2006 and made them worse, last December 2019 I bought an LG WT7100CW model washer. I made a huge mistake selling my OLD MAYTAG for the new LG washer . It runs exactly like you mentioned, like your Maytag, but even worse. If I put EXTRA rinse before starting the cycle and then during the wash cycle I changed my mind and I do not want an extra rinse cycle , ( because with extra water and extra rinse the wash cycle is about 80 minutes long) there is no way to release the function but to stop the washer completely. but then I have no choice but to restart the wash cycle from the beginning. Unbelievable that LG did not think of this. I also have soap residue stuck on my shirts after the wash. I"m stuck with this piece of crap. I highly DO NOT recommend LG WT7100CW model washer...?

I currently have an entire pillow case caught under the agitator and am trying to figure out how to remove it. I do not like the fill options either it is either auto fill or completely full. I would like more choices for a manual fill. The auto fill doesn't use enough water and you end up having to rinse at least twice, so it isn't saving water. Another great video. This whole was system for this washer is confusing. The Impeller was designed to achieve maximum cleaning in low water level settings. Hence the name: high efficiency. But they stuck this top auger to it. I'mying to figure out the purpose of the upper agitator if it's turning in both directions. It's designed with the spiral-fins to move clothes in on direction (toward the lower tub). If it's turning in both directions, exactly what is it supposed to be doing?

^^^==== *WHAT SHE SAID. What I'd give to be able to buy any machine that even approaches the agitation/turnover of a ~15yo Kenmore Series90 washer on 'heavy duty' cycle. THOSE were the days of real washing machines. These days they are all like the Prius running on 3 AAA batteries. Meh* Here's THE washer of all washers ... behold the Series90 offerup.com/item/detail/711604646/

@@trabbin8 You adjust the wash setting for how dirty the clothes are. Are you digging ditches or working on greasy car parts daily? I don't think so. No need for such a forceful agitation cycle. Think about it. Maytag knows how to build washers.

Yes! I need a new washer, and I’m I cloth diaper mom. Who can wash poo diapers with barely any agitation or water?! I may not be doing any greasy car repairs or ditch digging, but I assure you, in my line of never ending work, I want my items scrubbed CLEAN.

I just got this washer and it shakes a little during the spin. It's nothing violent and it isn't dancing or actually moving from where it's sitting, it just shakes enough where it's noticeable and makes me a little worried. Is this normal?
@kirkrivas8172
@kirkrivas8172 6 жыл бұрын
These new designs use more of a technical approach to handle an off center load than the old machines. Most of the older machines would use brute force to keep a load from bouncing around. On brand was using concrete blocks to counter balance the tub so it would not shake as much. I would say it is probably normal for a little bit of shaking.

If I am doing a deep water wash (same exact model) and I push the start button just once it lights up the "sensing" button but never moves along after that. It just sits there. I have to push that start button twice to get the water to start filling up. Also how do you bypass the lid lock mechanism? I often need to throw one more thing in after it starts and if I open the lid the whole things stops. I have to start the cycle all over again.

I have this washer. I use deep wash often. Hand wash also fills deeply. I use auto sensing with bulky. I easily wash a king bedspread. Most often, I use bulky items setting with deep water and 1rinse With fabric softener even when I do not use softener. It Rinses with lots of water. Finally, our clothes are clean. I had an LG front load.

Understandable that a Maytag factory dealer cannot demonstrate. Just put the back end of a plastic fork into the slot and press the left notch in to see it wash. When it is in lid locked mode, it is a bit different, I think then you need to use a slightly def technique if at all possible.

That's what I do for mine to see it wash. Still trying to figure out whether to return it. Any cloths like pants that have potential for air bubbles just stay at the top above the water and never rotate down into the actual wash water with the back and forth agitating that this machine performs. I end up using long tongs to hand wash some of the cloths that stay on top.

Do I have a lemon? I purchased the same machine last week, finally made the time to test it out (a week later). The water level is SO low. I tried using the power wash and the water is at the same level. I don’t know what it could be. Before the washer was installed, I had my hot and cold water faucets replaced. Full flow from each line. Why can’t they make machines like they use to.

I just bought this unit and noticed that "deep wash" does not work. Barely any water in the drum. Does the high water level shown here apply only to rinse cycles? I think my machine may be a dud. Hardly any water in drum on deep wash. I wish I could leave the lid open to watch, but it won't run with the lid open.
