I drive for uber eats for over a year. I have received my 2nd notice "final" notice of having my account deactivated due to uber app malfunctioning and not getting connectivity. I had one trip that took 30 min for me to end due to this issue yet uber holds the driver reliable for their app. I have called their customer service and sent an email to them. I was advised that the notices comes out automatically and the account being deactivated is automatic and out of their power this is what i was told. How is that fair that my account get deactivated due to their app? I did uninstall and install the app and everything they suggested. Im not Deactivated yet but just concern about having this issue again. Are they able to reactivate my account?

Tonight was my first time driving for Uber in Chicago. I was so nervous and the passengers were so nice b/c my navigation app wouldn't work!! My 2nd fare showed me how use Goggle maps. This was my first smartphone and I was grateful for the passenger's help. And they both gave me 5 stars:)

You are right when you say pax follow the app to see where you are and cancel when you take longer. 3 times yesterday, I was at a location where I could not make a uturn, as soon as I had to go the whole block to navigate to their location, the time changed to 3 minute from one minute and they cancel. What an impatient society we live in and how frustrating to be cancelled on for an extra 2 minutes. We have no control over that and it brings our rating down for cancellation. I am already frustrated one month into driving for Uber.

Here in Chile most Uber driver don't use phone holders because they don't want taxi drivers to see that they are uber drivers. Conflicts have been quite violent here about this.

I get compliments on my service because I offer riders water, chargers for all phones, access to change auto environment such as heat and a/c. I also ask if the radio station is okay or if they want to listen to what they have on their phone, and I offer wifi (hotspot).

you should do video Fair adjustment.For example if take a passenger from one state to the next which is also one hour way and you only received $20dollar something is wrong. you should pulled into an to a park lots and send Uber a email tell them adjust your fair. thanks for the video. I just started a week ago and I did manage to find and insurance company that covers RIDE SHARING DRIVERS. They are called ERIE INSURANCE. They are not in every state though so you would have to just talk to them and see if they are covering drivers where you live.

Here is something that I have struggled with so far. I drive to my "hotspot" where I get all LUX or LUX SUV riders. It is about 25 miles from my home. Then one of the riders takes me about 25 miles away. I have a hard time deciding whether to drive right back to my hot spot with an empty car or work the new area I end up in which rarely works out. Great advice, thank you. I have a quick question - do Uber drivers get paid for the miles and time they put in to pick up a rider? Or do they only get paid for the miles once they pick up the rider? It seems to me that it would be ridiculous to drive 20 miles to pick up a rider who wants to be dropped off a few blocks away. That would pay about $5 but cost you time and gas...

Only the miles/time after you pick up a rider which is why it's important to minimize the ETA's or even consider canceling on pax who are too far away.

I have been only driving for 2 days downtown. Sadly there isn't much money in it. People want to take 3 dollar trips that take 15 minutes to get to. Sure it adds up but so does gas, and maintenance. And that 3 dollars isn't taking into consideration the taxes that you got to put aside.

Sorry if I'm repeating a question that was probably answered. My friend told me to be careful when picking people up. Uber will only cover the person who requested the ride if in a car accident Unless Uber pool. So on my first driving experience I was deceived. Meaning when I got to the destination the person was out there alone. Once I pulled up and confirmed passenger, he called over his two other buddies that just came running into the car. Now because it was my first experience I didn't want to say anything. How and what do I when this happens? I am a very positive person but hate to be involved in something that could have been avoided.

Wow, that's pretty unreasonable request by the first Pool pax - I would personally stop the car and kick them out haha but that's just me :) It will hurt your acceptance rate if you don't accept so my advice would be to accept and then cancel/do not charge rider or my preferred choice would be to accept and then explain to pax #1 about the acceptance ratings, etc and how you can't not accept otherwise it hurts your score, etc - i might also send an email to uber about the first pax in case they rate you low, you can maybe get uber to adjust it :)

I signed up a month ago and still haven't gotten my BGC. I have been also watching a lot of videos about uber. And watching these vids is atucally making me feel like I shouldn't even start driving. One I disagree with this rating thing. I am a safe driver. If I get you to your destination you should be happy. Its like in Asia the cabs there are nice cars. And that's what uber is to me. a nice car taxi. Iv read that some people eat n drink or eve smoke in your car. That is very rude. I was always under the impression Uber, for most, is a part-time gig you do on the side to make some extra cash. the reason why some people dont have a phone holder is because is some cities uber is still ilegal and if you drop off someone for example at the airport the people that work there are cracking down on uber drivers they call the police they arrest you and get your car impounded. Having a phone holder is a dead give away to drop off locations like this. Maybe you werent aware of that.

The Rideshare Guy I agree, I been driving Uber since Nov 2016. I still have a 5.0 rating...but I have a phone mount, dash cam, clean car, bottled water and a big basket of snacks (candy, cakes, chips)....and the most important thing that stands out is my interaction with my riders. I drive at night...so I primarily provide service to people going to and from the bar...so good so far! I make awesome tips..the most I've been tipped was 20.00 from a customer...but the majority of my tips are 5.00-10.00 majority of my rides consistently! God Bless!

The number 1 advice is something you never hear anywhere. Number 1 advice, don't use an iPhone, it's a disaster, either to your earnings, your ratings or both. Use Android. Number 2 piece of advice, develop a written strategy. don't be afraid of typing your strategy into a computer document and reviewing it and modifying it. After every ride, ask yourself was it good or bad. Did I follow strategy properly, if not why not. Your strategy should include what to do before the pickup what to do and SAY at the pickup, what to say at different points in the journey, and most importantly what to say at the drop. I have a selection of things to say and I vary only according to the type of passenger. Take control of the conversation right at the start, learn how the right humour (UK spelling) always guarantees no rating less that 5. Number 3 advice, if there is anything unusual about the pickup, you have been warned, protect yourself from a ride you would rather not have had, know when to opt out.

due to Google and waze apps not being as reliable with their updates. maps tend to give very bad routes that are wrong or even make a driver seem like they are trying to cheat a customer. mounts are great for safty yet terrible to keep adjusting the routes such as alternate routes Google suggests as you drive. keeping phone on hand or crotch is sometimes necessary to quickly look and change. .. this is one of the reasons a driver may not want to use a phone mount.

One issue I'm curious about is sexual harassment from male fares--especially late night fares. My looks shouldn't prevent me from driving when I want and receiving appropriate reviews. I am a successful business owner who has chosen to work with Rideshare services on the side for fun and extra money. I am a lifestyle consultant and coach and am very experienced in customer service. I am a college educated adult whose first language is English. I offer water, a travel garbage bag, mints, gum, a phone charger and a brand new car, yet I've been left poor reviews by men who have been very inappropriate who I've had to respectfully and kindly draw boundaries with. I ask passengers whether the temperature is okay and what their musical preferences are. Most passengers leave me good feedback and good reviews, but I'm concerned that if this sexual harassment continues, my driving record may take a hit.

I drive in Oxford MS and occasionally I get a request to take a passenger that takes me to Memphis TN. How do I add Memphis to my account so I can accept rides while I am in Memphis?

How does your car insurance work? Are you covered while commercially running with a client in the car? I have AAA and they do not insure UBER drivers during the ride of a passenger. Having a difficult time finding commercial insurance to cover taxi type personal vehicle coverage.

+Robyn Blair, Realtor Insurance is a tricky issue/situation but in short you're covered when en route to a pax (period 2) or with a pax (period 3). +The Rideshare Guy Thank you. I did the research after I got excited about getting my car inspected and taking 2 riders out. I got to thinking about what I was actually doing. My insurance company will cancel me and my house and other vehicles if I am a RIDESHARE DRIVER. So after 2 days of trying to find an insurance company that will assume RIDESHARE policies and finding 1 that would work with me, it is best for my situation to NOT be an UBER PARTNER. I'm sad, but will find something else to do with my time. Could not find any insurance company willing to write a RIDESHARE policy for LYFT drivers. I learned a lot! I can't afford to be sued:)

I believe these cars qualify for both, but be sure to check the requirements in your local market as they sometimes vary between locations. I wouldn't recommend buying one of these just to drive for Uber though. The demand on XL and Select is a lot lower than on X - only upgrade if you're planning on doing so regardless! just learned of a scam some scumbags are using. I learned the hard way but fortunately it only cost me a 1 rating and 3 bucks Pick up a passenger. Upon starting the ride I find no destination put in. I request her to enter the destination she says its just up the road I'll give you the directions. I ask for the address she claims it is her father's home she is visiting and doesn't know it. I drive her there drop her off end the ride rate her and go my way. I few days later I notice my pay statement was low by a few dollars. I find out why. have a dash cam but it looped over it since uber didn't notify me first i found out was when i got the email with weekly pay . uber reissued my money. but the 1 bomb still stands personally i feel the rider should be deactivated

Having a dashcam may help but do you see all the bs you put up with driving for Uber and they don't reimburse you. I had the same thing happen to me only this biotch did have an address but when I got there she said it was the wrong address and that she would show me where it is. Uber never paid me for this and I told them the pax entered the wrong address and then had me take her somewhere else. They don't care. Uber should provide the dashcam. They expect you to buy all this stuff and never pay you back.-vehicle inspection, give the pax water, gum, phone charger etc. shit their riding in a clean air-conditioned nice car with music they like or I like and that's all they're getting.

I've been driving for Uber for about 6 weeks and I cannot for the life on me get the Google Maps voice turn-by-turn directions to work. I found my 10 year old Garmin and use it but doesn't know all of the new streets. Uber support says simply click on the speaker icon on the screen, but there is no speaker icon on my HTC phone. I make sure the Unmute button is not activated, my speaker volumes are at the max, still no luck. Any advice?

That you do not understand that a bottle of water is a tax deduction that is really your stupidity being in your way. Tips are easy to earn really, with a 20ct bottle of water you get a couple usd in return plus you can deduct it. You're a thief of your own wallet...
