My 20 Favorite Nintendo64 Games (part 1)

Whew, finally got part 1 of this done. I've been arguing with myself too much on this list, but only because I care. Not sure when the sequel will come out though. Have some favorites? Let me know. Enjoy. :)

Five games on this list brought back so many memories. 1. Mario Tennis. When my family stayed in a hotel in florida a long time ago, there were games we could play on the TV. This was one of them. Though, the only thing that I can remember was loosing to my brothers and...there was a time limit to playing each game. Like maybe a couple minutes? It wouldn't even save your progress, like those old games you can play in Brawl. Weird. 2. PilotWings. It equals death. Nobody in my family could really beat a level without dying (and my older brother usually beat games!) But it was super fun flying around and finding secrets (like mario's head on the mountain.) At least NOW I know that you had to land on the target to beat a level... 3. Mario Party 3 (how fitting!) Probably our most favorite Mario Party game (next to Mario party 5, that is). We played it for hours and hours! I think it was the first game that helped me get the hang of video gaming (when my brothers finally stopped banning me from playing X'D ) The mini games are great! The music is great! The visuals, though old, just make me feel so happy inside! And I especially like the two on two battle mode. I always lost, but hey! It was fun....except for that con artist shy guy! >:c And the story mode boss was interesting (I also find it strange that a game like Mario Party would even have a story mode.) 4. Pokemon Stadium 2. I always lost, but again, had so much fun with it!! The mini games are so memorable! But I also have fond memories of the first (at least in the US) one, though that's mostly because of the mini games. And being able to use articuno. They sure made it look like a beautiful, majestic bird (just like it was in the movie, only in 3D!) as opposed to the aggressive zapdos and flaming moltres. I think stadium is one of the reasons articuno is one of my favorite pokemon. 5. Mega Man 64. It's not a big memory, I just remember it being playable at the kids dentist waiting room when I was little. It confused me. I knew about mega man, but in this game he was outside in green grass and didn't have his helmet on. Young me kinda wondered if it was fake (of course, older me would of wondered if it was a knock off.) As always, it's always a blast seeing another video from you! :D Keep up the good work!

Glitched out remote mines or what I prefer to call, the floating remote mine of doom. Not sure how I pulled this off with my friend, but we were playing with a remote mines in the weapons options in the Russian Bunker. I was throwing some remote mines on the windows but my friend decided to try and blow them up with his own while I was throwing mine. After a huge explosion fest that we both survived, I started throwing the mines but noticed they weren't flying forward. Told my friend to hold fire and I backed up a bit and noticed there was a long stack of remote mines hovering in the air like they were stuck to a glass wall. We spent the whole game literally making a trail of explosives everywhere we ran. Again, not sure how we did it... but it might be worth experimenting to see if you can get the same result. If not... well then that just makes it a unique experience for me I guess.

Honestly, I have a rather small N64 library (around a dozen games, and that number will decrease when I get the chance to sell my Stadium games), so I can see where you're coming from with every entry. I'm actually planning to get the Gex games at some point.

Why would you sell Pokemon Stadium? Also, my N64 library is pretty small too. The only worthwhile titles I own for it are the Mario titles, the original Pokemon Stadium, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, and Conker's Bad Fur Day.

@@smashmaster521 Pokémon Stadium was a product of the time. Really, besides some music, it's of little worth to me, since my transfer pak stopped working, and there's no point in getting a new one, because I have the gen one games on virtual console. It's pretty much a waste of space that lost the magic it had in the early 2000s. I don't even get nostalgic value from it. If I want to play a game for nostalgia, I'll play one of the Mario and Sonic Olympics games.

Excellent list! Personally I don't think I could ever narrow it down to just 20. There are way too many amazing games on the N64. And many of them have never been topped by subsequent entries in their respective series.... yeah I said it!

I regret a little in selling my N64 but I never had many games to begin with. Outside the Stadium and Stadium 2, the only other games I had were Hexen, Diddy Kong Racing, Quake, Quest 64, Ogre Battle 64, Donkey Kong 64, Super Mario 64, LoZ: Ocarina of Time, and Turok 2 (which a friend took and never returned). I got into the N64 late as the PS2 and Game Cube were coming out.

Funnily enough, what would later become Metroid Prime was originally meant to be a "THUH REEE DEEE!" (side-note, somebody clip that, that joke is platinum-tier XD) Super Metroid sequel on the N64; I don't recall it having an official name, but it would see you playing as Samus in a third-person shooter, not too dissimilar to what we would later get with Other M (yeah, not the best game overall, even by Metroid standards, but I still find it to be somewhat of a guilty pleasure I can unironically defend for being fun...even if I haven't touched it in years.)

If people didn't use the "1 entry per franchise" rule, then the list would be flooded with entries from one particular franchise. Here, I'll give you an example of what I mean by providing a list of 12 of my favorite platformers (in no particular order, mind you). 1. Super Mario 64 DS 2. Super Mario World 3. Super Mario Bros. 3 4. New Super Mario Bros. 5. Sonic Adventure 6. Sonic Adventure 2 7. Sonic Advance 8. Sonic Advance 2 9. Mega Man Zero 3 10. Mega Man X4 11. Kirby Super Star Ultra 12. Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back Now, without a "1 entry per franchise rule", notice how I flooded the list with Mario and Sonic? That rule forces the people who make lists like this to be more versatile.
