The 787 coupled with the GEnx is almost too pleasing to the senses to be real. 😌 That view out the window on the take off roll with the raked wingtip while listening to the electric whir-like noise of the GEnx at TOGA power...I could do that all day.

Love the video, as always! I don't fly very often and I've only ever flown in North America, so that type of lie-flat, cozy, private seat looks like an absolute dream to me! But on an unrelated noted, I don't know the best way to suggest future travels (I'm not on social media), but I'd love it if someday you were able to fly from St. Petersburg to...St. Petersburg. Seriously. Of course, that would be from St. Petersburg, RUSSIA, to St. Petersburg, FLORIDA. It's right next to Tampa, and about an hour from Orlando (and Disney World, if you wanted to treat the kids :)). In any case, happy and safe travels to you.

They replaced almost their whole fleet with these 787s now, even small destinations have 787s and most of them have a350s. Thats a really good thing.

Great video! You should fly from Manchester more often. But....... that fog seems to be there a lot. Many times I've been landing at Manchester and we've had to have 2 to 3 attempts at landing due to visibility.

I know the feeling re your home town as Sydney to Melbourne flights pass directly over my Mansfield in North East Victoria...followed by a 3 hour drive to get to the farm...which I can actually see as we begin our descent into Melbourne !! I think your Mansfield is bigger than mine !!! Great review as always mate... I keep hearing and reading differing reports about Etihad...especially on the long haul flights to Abu Dhabi from Melbourne as they have been cost cutting in so many areas.! I fly this seat to and from Dusseldorf each year. Its the best Business class seat I have experienced. I am a nervous flyer but the combination of the colors, atmosphere, service and aircraft smoothness really settle me on the Etihad Dreamliner. Its a very nice product. I would say the only thing they could use is a nice pair of PJs for the night flight but I usually just bring my own.

Agreed re the PJs. Not many airlines do them these days. Just need to work on the food and get the new terminal open and they’d be incredible.

@@noelphilips Yes. The Terminal will be a very welcome addition to the experience. I had a bus service to the aircraft last time where we sat for what seemed like 30 mins on a freezing bus waiting for a single passenger. I can imagine the frustration of the economy passengers on the bus behind us as they had to wait for us to board the aircraft first. On the plus side you do get a lovely and rare view of the Dreamliner as you are boarding the steps. It is a good lookin airplane. Looking forward to trying an A350 at some point, supposedly ranks higher for many people.

Katmandu is surrounded by high terrain, so the A320 is a better option for maintaining the strict altitude/speed restrictions when climbing and descending into the airport.

I recommend you always go to the Spa at Abu Dhabi for a shower and a freshen up. I find there is rarely a wait for showers.

Hi Noel, I know that I am late watching this video, we are now in 2022 at the time of writing, but it's still nice to see past videos you have made Pre-Covid 19, I really do miss flying. Anyway Etihad also has a flight that flies here around 3-4times a week, now they operate both the B787 and the A320 at times. Never really flown with them but I have been fortunate enough to board their A320 as a ground staff. Truth be told it is nice. Nicer than our own Airline's that is. The crew, they are ok, never had a long conversation or what not, but even to ground staff they seemed nice. I like the part when you saw your home town from above and wished that they could drop you there, believe me I know what you mean. As an Airport staff and former Airline staff, I have seen some aborted landings in Seychelles and my thought process was like. If I were on the flight, I could say "drop me off here, Im home you can go on if you like", just a little joke. Yeah when flights divert I kind of feel a bit of compassion to the passenger and crew on board, they have arrived and all of a sudden this, Anyway it happens, fortunately the flights I have seen never canceled, they just delayed their arrival, Not ideal for us ground staff if the arrival is early and our shift is like ending at 1am and the plane arrives at something like 8:30pm, but that is just how life is, all we can do is adapt and deliver our service with safety as a high priority on everyone's head and with a little Creole touch.

Great video. I've flown Etihad Business many times and it is a great seat (especially on the A380) and the food is usually excellent - sometimes high-end restaurant quality. My gripe with Etihad is that they removed the limo service outside UAE.

wonderful this B 787 by Etihad...And I am really surprised..because last week my sister usest on route from Doha to Vienna Qatar airways s B 787 economy class and she was very disappointed by legroom .very inconvenience legroom uncomfortable...she was so tired ( she flew from Yangon) and she wanted rest on board to Vienna and it was disaster...She told me B 787 never I will use Airbuses only they have comfortable legroom not so squeeze space for sitting...

in term of price traveling in business class with Etihad is quitte a good option of course everything depends where we going, honestly i never flew with Etihad yet but their business configuration are quite awesome but the problem with Etihad it's that you can't going anywhere because many key destinations aren't deserved by Etihad and he doesn't share a lot with some Airlines ,unlike Qatar airways honestly for me the best Middle East Airlines right now is Qatar Airways because i flew a once in business class named Qsuite just gorgeous and probably the best business traveling ever that i never did in my entire life , i flew from Amsterdam to Osaka and being a Oneworld Member it isn't necessary to pick up our luggage until our final Destination like some Airlines in the world and by the way the last final part that i did was deserved by Cathay Pacific Awesome , but for Etihad, if we take it for going to Osaka or Nagoya or somewhere we will be oblige to pick up our luggagse+ immigration and taking another Airlines to our final Destination not good

Wish I could afford this, my favoured destinations are always pretty long haul but I find economy far too impersonal as someone who likes to be on their own, I do premium when it isn't ridiculously more expensive but even this can vary - Air France premium is brilliant, others seems to be literally just another inch of leg room for 50% more than the economy price. Could you do more of these please Noel, the affordable upgrades? I like your channel and Paul Lucas, but it seems to be constant reviews of products the normal person can't generally afford, particularly Paul's channel.
