In language colours are used for 2 purposes mostly: description and categorization. There is a linguistic phenomenon called type modification and it's extremely common in most languages. I'll leave a link in the description to an abstract “Categorical Perception” and Linguistic Categorization of Color that introduces this concept.
To you, what colour is the yolk of an egg. (from The dialectal names for ‘yolk’ collected in the 1980s for Atlas Linguarum Europae).
There is variation in this answer, depending on the language some say yellow, red, shades of brown.
Some ancients described honey as being green, the sea as wine coloured, and this is diachronic in nature, which means that it changes through time. But even you, Kings Monologue a modern English speaker say white wine and you are not being descriptive when you do so, since wine is arguably golden yellow. Your comments on the term olive skin make it sound like to you a glass of white wine should look like the glass on the left of the screen.
I have a lot of examples in Old Norse, how the sun and high quality gold was described as red, but the pertinent one is how they sometimes used blue to describe things that we see Black. Like ravens and before you say "structural coloration" they describe people from Africa as blue as well.
That's not because the Norse saw your people actually blue but because in that culture blue contains a undermeaning of exotic and mysterious.
We do this when we classify things rather than describe them.
So calling a hue of human skin olive to categorize it, even if said people do not look like actual olives is absolutely normal and it's silly to make fun of it.

To the commenters who say, "why make this video? These people's minds can't be changed." Essentially, yes; the ideologues' views are not easily swayed. However, videos like this are extremely important to the people who are undecided, or have preconceived notions but are willing to hear the opposition. A debate is not only an attempt to change your opponent's mind; it is also to provide evidence to the audience of your position. Good work, sir

None of those statements put forward represent how you view your Black subscribers. Please keep going. It's sad that these guys had to resort to throwing the racism card and couldn't just address you on a purely academic and intellectual level. As a former Afrocentrist and a fellow Christian man, I love watching your videos seeing you debunk much of the misinformation put out there on the internet regarding African history. Many Afrocentrists hate the fact that we Black people have been marginalised throughout history and have had much of our history hidden away from us and our contributions lowered in history. Thus, rather than being intellectually honest and truly studying history with an open mind they have a presupposition that any history given to us by Non-Black people is "His Story" rather than history. Many of them have an inherent bias against any non-Black historians and are unable to remove their own biases and prejudices from their research. The real irony with this approach is that whilst they try to shoehorn Black people in different parts of history and cherry-pick their information, they tend to overlook much of the rich history of the continent and focus on Egypt due to their empire being the most popular in a modern sense. Most of us Blacks in the West descend from slaves taken from the sub-Saharan regions of Africa, mainly the west coast, yet these many of these guys completely ignore the history of the Benin Empire and others like it in order to promote and idolise a fictionalised version of Egypt. As you yourself have stated throughout the video, they aren't wrong about everything, but their lack of charity and insinuations of racism show that they aren't truly operating in good faith.

The funniest thing about American Black Nationalists who identify with Egypt is that even if Egypt were black throughout its history, it would still not be your people. Most American blacks are descended from West and Central Africans, so it would be the equivalent of an American of English descent acting like his ancestors were Russian.

@@ArachniusWebb It was gradual change in my perspective because I continued to interact with friends who thought differently. I also went to church and noticed differences between what Christians believe and Afrocentrism. For example, the Bible portrayed Egypt negatively who enslaved the Israelites and separated from them. Many Afrocentrists view Egypt and Egyptian religion positively and reject Exodus as a myth. So, I never accepted everything from them. Afrocentrists don't completely agree among themselves. Cheikh Anta Diop held some positions that many Afrocentrists reject today. Frank Snowden is a good place to start, to help loosen the shackles.

Egypt is located in northeastern Africa. A large portion of it is located in Asia. Egypt is an African-Asian country. It is a country in the Middle East. Most of its people live in northern Egypt, specifically in the Delta. All this will tell you that we were and still are closer to the Mediterranean and the Levant. Well, the Egyptians and Greeks were similar to each other. Look for the statue of the seated scribe and the statue of Rahotep and his wife, both made before the pyramids were built. Look for statues of Ramesses II, Khafre, Nefertiti, Horemheb, and other statues. Search for the mummy of Ramesses II, Yuya, Tuya, Teti, Tuthmosis IV, etc. Scientists examined Tutankhamun's DNA and found that 70% of men in Britain, 60% of men in France and 40% of Spanish men shared the same DNA, so Egypt was closer to Europe than you might think. . Some Africans and Berbers have immigrated to Egypt in the last 500 years, so some current Egyptians are less white than the ancient Egyptians. And yes, the Cretan civilization (Minoan civilization) used to color men red and women white, just as the Egyptians did, and this civilization had a great relationship with Egypt. Type (pictures of the Minoan civilization) in Google, which is the ancient civilization of Crete. Look for Fayoum Portraits, which are pictures of ancient Egyptians in central Egypt.

I've seen "olive-skinned" used to refer to ANY Mediterranean people (Spanish, Cote d'Azur French, Italian, Greek, Turkish, Syrian, Palestinian, Israeli, Egyptian, Libyan, Tunisian, Algerian, Morrocan). It has traditionally been understood to mean a tanned skin or light brown. Not green, not black.
@TheEggmaniac

I agree, and to me the expression, olive skin has always been used, in Britain, to mean a person who has a complexion that was of a slightly pale brown hue. Basically typical of a person indigenous to southern and Mediterranean Europe, or the north of Africa. It had a certain metaphorical meaning, as it refers to the people of southern Europe, where olive trees grew abundantly, and olives were a large part of the peoples diet. At least this is the perception of northern European English speaking people. Where the expression 'olive skinned' comes from.

@@jamessullivan9306 Fair point, I dont think Metatron should use it in a generalised way to describe 'ancient' Egyptians. If he is talking about the ancient Egyptian period that started about 3150 BCE,. During this long time period, the genetic make up of Egyptians will have varied a lot. Though I believe he is talking about the periods from middle kingdom onwards - 1674BCE. The last Egyptian dynasty, ending with the death of Queen Cleopatra and Egypt becoming part of the Roman Empire. I believe Cleopatra and many of the ruling class, could have been described as olive skinned, as they were from Greek origin. He should be clearer about time periods he is talking about during the video..

@@jamessullivan9306 the point is in what you think "African" means. If you think it means "black" by default, you are wrong, especially if we refer to North and East Africa where Egypt has and had most of its own surface. If you mean "African"as being on the huge geographical platform you are correct and then you can reach a better understanding downgrading the relevance of skin tone. Olive skin is a good guess for many ancient Egyptians, of course not the only possibility and maybe not even the majority but it's more likely than imagining a wholly Nigerian look alike nation

They never have to debate their ideas within their ideology, so they've had zero practice at it. That's also why they always fall back on accusations of racism/sexism/transphobia/islamaphobia etc when arguing outside their bubble. I remember as a kid doing debates and how it was easier to craft a logical and consistent debate if you were arguing for the side you didn't emotionally agree with. This will be something the right will have to remember when it becomes the dominant ideology again, so we don't fall into the same trap.

It still aligns with your multiethnic argument but I found it quite an interesting take from these creators that is never spoken about in the mainstream discussions of ancient Egypt and phenotype. Black African people have a unique hair type that is common in many cases only to them. Appreciate your views on this

I personally think the problem is that nobody seems to care about African history and black Americans true roots. We never learn the multiple cultures enslaved in the Atlantic slave trade. The only people that seem to care pick up a lot of conspiracy beliefs. Like I want to look for historical scholars, historians and universities all over Africa that are well educated on our history. I know Africa is very diverse to where not everyone even in close tribes share the same language. We also don’t talk about mythologies and philosophies in these cultures. People know about the African Proverbs but where do they come from? Who put these books together and from which cultures? But no in schools we only learn the basics about slavery in the west and the continuation of the lives of African/Black groups living and surviving in western cultures. We rarely hear African cultures in the topic of world history. My assumptions could be wrong but I think this is why assumptions of our history go this far. You literally have to dig for it yourself and I mean some deep research to learn some of our history. We need more historians and scholars to speak up.

As a Scandinavian (with a Bachelor degree in Scandinavian history from a prestigious danish University) i can confirm, my ancestors did indeed say "blue men".. It appears both in Scandinavian "viking age" history regarding encounters with the moors in Spain and people along the north African coast and it appears in the old Norse linguistics, which any Norse linguistics expert will confirm. I will even point you to a professor in Norse linguistics that can verify. Blue in these cases were used to describe something dark, darker than the pale Scandinavians and north Europeans. I believe that Jackson Crawford has an entire video about the use of (and meaning of) blue in old Norse linguistics. He is a professor in Norse linguistics with a KZbin channel.

@@lunafencoven Then let us try this approach.. I have a bachelor in Scandinavian history from a prestigious danish University. I can ofcourse not tell you my name here, since doxing from people wanting to re-write history is very real. So.. where do you want to go from here? I can tell you as a Scandinavian with a Bachelor in Scandinavian history, you will not find anyone able to tell me how my own ancestry and history is. Further i did, you might have skipped it because thats how people like you often play, i did name a professor in Norse linguistics by name and i did let people know exactly where to find him and the evidence. If you still doubt my words, its as easy as you going to his channel and finding the video regarding the use of "blue" and the "blue" men.. everyone can go have a look or even contact him. I would expect any serious person had looked it up BEFORE trying to raise doubt about something like this.. but i guess facts and evidence are not practical when you want to raise doubt 😉 But do yourself a favor, go look it up.. its as easy as making yourself look silly in the comment section, just less people laughing at you afterwards.. win/win i would say 😉 And remember, unless you are a time traveler, you also have no valid argument that what im saying isnt real or the truth.. it goes both ways. Your claim is however not worth as much as mine, since you havnt pointed in the direction of a real specialist in Norse linguistics that has another opinion. Because someone told them that humans started in Africa. That the Europeans came from Africa originally and migrated there long before any of these civilizations existed. Which is apparently true, but aoso apparently makes them believe that all Africans were black in the time of these civilizations. I may be wrong, but after looking into things that are happening in the States, it's mainly caused by people being upset because of things that happened during the early days of the Americas. A lot of things have come to light lately that have African Americans panties in a bunch, as well as a lot of upset Caucasians. 1 is the revelation that the Europeans originated in Africa. Evidence of the migration turned up and was reported within the last 5 yrs. There are as many Caucasians that want to dispute that as African Americans that want to use it to their advantage. History with Kayliegh has some good, easy to understand videos about this. Second is some European nation paid a bunch of former slaves relatives for the atrocities of a different time, and the African Americans had a few wins in this stuff too, but were also informed that they were slaves before they came here so couldn't continue to blame the Americans as their sole oppressors. This is what I've been told and pieced together from several other KZbin channels, from all sides. 3rd would be a certain streaming platforms recent adaptations of historical events and the inaccuracies that are products of politics rather than facts causing debate. I'm sorry that is long. That was a great question and I felt the need to answer it. I feel I need to state that what I have said is a summarization of what I have learned from multiple KZbin channels, on all sides of this argument. Olive refers more to the undertones. It doesn't mean dark or light, it has a wide range in that regard. I have olive skin and I'm pretty light but it has an obvious greenish/yellowish undertone because I'm Mediterranean.

From what I know about tracking genealogies, it's nearly impossible to track one's lineage before the 1300s because birth certificates weren't a thing back then (among other factors).

@@Pirate_Knight27 Birth certificates weren't really "a thing" up until the last century. My grandparents (all of them, born in Europe and the U.S.) didn't get a birth certificate until everyone "had to" have one for travel/immigration. By that time they were adults. This was only 70 years ago. Usually, you trace your ancestors from town/village/city records. Not birth certificates.

That is correct but core of population is stable since neolithic times. Thats because Nile is one of most fertile rivers and like Mesopotamia and Chinese rivers when farming revolution begin it hold one of most massive population of farmers. And when you are barbaric Nubian, Berbers, Arab, Greek or Roman conquerer - you want not fancy pyramides, you want those farmers to keep growing food on this great Kemetic soil - so you can control it. And that's why population of Egypt like China was not really replaced despite being often ruled by foreigners.
