Wow... thank you so much for your shout out! This is totally unexpected and really... I am so moved and really... I am at a loss for words. Thank you very much. This is so kind, my friend. And you pronounced my name perfectly--better than I pronounce it! And I am so happy to see your wonderful, wonderful collection!!! It is superb!!

Ah, nice. I always try my best with pronunciation, so it's nice to get it right occasionally haha. No problem, hope more people go and check out your stuff :)

My friend, if ever you find yourself in Tokyo, please let me know. You and I must meet and I can buy you a drink and we can discuss cinema and everything. Warmest regards from Tokyo. From Daisuke.

8:20 I love your comments here. And I agree. As far as I know, at the moment (August 2018) BRINGING UP BABY is not getting released. However, it would be a great CC release. And so you are very right to make that point. Well done.

Rewatching this now, Luke - it's hard to believe we didn't have Daisuke in our lives at one point! Oh, and you have a mighty fine Criterion Collection, of course.

What a really pleasant bloke he is. And both the collection and videos are great. I'm actually reluctant to disagree with him which is a bizarre experience for me! Luckily there isn't a lot, if anything, to disagree with thus far.

Hi Luke, so I live in the UK as well and have just started collecting criterion blu rays and would like to order some from their website but when I'm in the checkout section, there's no option to deliver to the UK, there's only options to deliver to the states. Was just wondering how you're able to order from there site and if you could help with information please. Cheers
@RazorwireReviews3 жыл бұрын
Are you able to play Region A blu-rays? If not you should look onto the already vast UK collection. If you are, the Criterion website do not ship internationally so your best bet would be Amazon US or using the global store on Amazon UK.

Criterion released a few months ago the complete works of Ingmar Bergman. 39 films.will you get it?

Yes, check the Daisuke Beppu channel. He had full Criterion Collection and other awesome things in collection

Yep, one of, if not the most impressive collection I've seen on KZbin.
@Miriodian6 жыл бұрын
You have good collection also, my only Criterion was Overlord, get it very cheap from eBay long time ago. Still not watch it. Want more, but prices are not cheap, even UK ones. I'm now trying to collect Eureka Masters of Cinema, blu-ray and dvd. I have 16 dvd and 12 blu-rays from collection.
@WolfGratz6 жыл бұрын
MoC are more affordable in the main and of course have very good extras and prints. I had a quick tot-up and I've definitely got more MoC Blu-rays than Criterions though there are also quite a few DVD Eclipse boxsets from Criterion.
@dynamo16756 жыл бұрын
Awesome collection bro! Do you buy your Criterions on amazon or the Criterion website?
@RazorwireReviews6 жыл бұрын
A lot from Amazon, never from Criterion directly, they don't ship internationally. Some from eBay and occasionally a US hookup from one of the B&N sales.

"A dark, beautiful, horrible masterpiece." Love that description of Fire Walk With Me! Wes Anderson and Peter Becker have a really good relationship (so I've heard) and I'm pretty sure they have a deal that all of Wes' films will go to Criterion sometime after the original studio release. It's just a matter of *when* they'll be released on Criterion.
@RazorwireReviews6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I'm sure that will be the case. With Boyhood, one of my favourite films, I didn't even buy the Blu-ray on release because I knew a Criterion would have to follow. Seems to be taking a little longer for Grand Budapest to come, and I'm sure the same will play out for Isle of Dogs, but no doubt they will in time.
@BaileeWalsh6 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I've been waiting for that announcement. I thought it would have been released last year since Moonrise Kingdom was released in 2015 and the films came out two years apart. I could see them focusing on things that are bigger and/or not for-sure releases more though.
@callummurphy61755 жыл бұрын
What blu ray player do you have to play these on? Is your player Region free?
@RazorwireReviews5 жыл бұрын
Yeah I have a region free player. A Toshiba model that I was able to modify many years ago

Amazing video man! I have the Before Trilogy Criterion and is one of my absolute favourites in my collection. Apart from that though, I know nothing about Criterions but this made me want to buy some. One of days I’m gonna be all in with the collection haha!
@RazorwireReviews6 жыл бұрын
Well what you see with the Before set, is what you get. Great films that studios don't really care too much about, released in editions worthy of their quality.
@BlaizeV6 жыл бұрын
Great Collection. I plan to get all the Wes Anderson stuff eventually myself. Btw I'm pretty sure Throne of Blood is going OOP? So you might want to get on that. I can think of a bunch of films I'd love in the Criterion Collection, I may even do a video on that myself one day.
@RazorwireReviews6 жыл бұрын
I haven't heard that it is going OOP, I sure hope not!

Hey great collection, what blu ray player do you use (regionfree i guess) or do you have 2 of them. kind regards
@RazorwireReviews5 жыл бұрын
I have a Toshiba player that I was able to flash with Australian firmware but this was many years ago and the player is barely holding on these days! Still works though. Don't think they're still being made though.

Amazing collection I love your channel. If possible could you tell me how you made your Blu Ray player region free? Thanks so much if you even read this comment.
@RazorwireReviews6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! At the time I had bought a Toshiba model that was easily updated to make region free using Australian firmware. So I popped the firmware update onto a USB, plugged it into the player and then updated it. From there I can now go into the Setup menu, but in a number combo and select the blu-ray region. But I believe that player model isn't in production anymore, BDX3200 or something I think.

Excellent. Two things though 1) You knew Ikiru was in the wrong place and still put it back in the wrong place. Did you feel compelled to re-position it afterwards? 2) The only time you didn't say whether you have watched the movie was when you came to The Emigrants/The New Land. I'm curious about those cos I really enjoyed them (and indeed the two other Troell films I've seen so far).
@RazorwireReviews6 жыл бұрын
I didn't actually! And no I haven't seen them yet. I remember I bought it along with 5 or 6 other Criterions from Zoom with a 10% discount, so it worked out being as cheap as a regular Criterion with the money saved. I'd recently seen a couple of Ullmann/Sydow films (Shame and Vargtimmen) so I was quite intrigued, but with the running time, I haven't yet given it a look.
@WolfGratz6 жыл бұрын
True - they are long films. Very long. In fact I had severe doubts about them especially not being known for my love of the leads through Bergman. But in the event they got me hooked and I bought several other Troell films which I'm taking my time over but have really enjoyed so far.
@WolfGratz6 жыл бұрын
And speaking of Bergman - today is finally my last Ray film, The Stranger. Then I'm launching into my Bergman mega-Marathon with (pauses to check pile) Crisis which looks a right bundle of joy. I anticipate this particular Marathon proceeding with glacial slowness!
@RazorwireReviews6 жыл бұрын
At least you don't feel the need to record said marathons in video form, which often leads to said marathons never happening :P

Agree about Jean Vigo. My favourite of his work is definitely Zero de Conduite. Wish he'd got to make more films.

I've had my Artificial Eye collection sitting, waiting to be viewed, since my workmate Terence recommended it - which means at least ten years. That must be a lot longer than the guy's entire career (Vigo's that is - not Terence)!
