Congrats on the AP sponsor Dale. I typed ask Arvie for a pair of the AP dunks and then you got to that part of the video lmao. That's awesome though. A dream for a lot of competitors.

IMO the fashion brand gis are a bit cringey. One of the great aspects of BJJ is its ability to bring individuals from diverse economic and social backgrounds together, fostering an environment where everyone is equal, with rank as the only visible distinction-earned through dedication and skill. However, when gyms become segmented by individuals flaunting expensive $300+ gis, it undermines the core principle of humility intrinsic to martial arts. Wear your academy's branded gi. Training should not a fashion show, - Black belt that's been training 25+ years.

Agreed. I feel like the only reason to have an expensive Gi is for durability, not bravado or attention etc. Martial Arts IS about being humble and becoming a better person. Being more in tune with your surroundings / fellow man. Empathy, generosity, and interest / support in the success of others around you. A high tide raises all ships. 🙏

L take. everything is cringey when you take it too serious.

@stevepaul6709 I'm not sure you understand Martial Arts if you feel this is an "L take" as the kids say.

That's what happens when your ears make hard contact on a regular basis. Not much you can do about it from what I'm aware.

Would someone in their 40s have a hard / bad time learning BJJ? How taxing is it on your body?

You'll be fine. Dudes won't kill you if you're older, and if they do, just don't spar with them anymore.
