The best part of Evia is on the north !
@Ptolemy336VV
@Ptolemy336VV 7 ай бұрын
Not just the north. Why the north? I think some of the most crazy craaaazy unknown beaches are all around the extremely wild mountains area around Dirfi mountain. And I I havent been more south, but I know that these beach areas alone are divine. There are a lot of drone footages of many off the beaten path beaches of Evia. And these are unique for Evia compared to any other island in Greece. And that says a lot because Greece with its 16.000 km of crazy coastlines has 10.000 different types of beaches, different stone types, sand types, colors, with mountains, without mountains, with virgin forests, volcano's, geology or without. Etc. But these beaches on Evia that I mean are like a paradise on it's own. Nowhere in Greece even with it's 16.000km of coastline can you find these specific type of beaches.

You should visit Mount Athos, an independent Greek peninsula with dozens of ancient Orthodox monasteries.
@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos 7 ай бұрын
I agree, really want to go there.
@jimjim8645
@jimjim8645 7 ай бұрын
Unfortunately there is a ''certain'' procedure to enter Mount Athos'' (Holy Mountain) esp. for foreigners non -othodox ,as there is a limited number of persons allowed in daily (i think only 10 per day), so you need to book(!) well in advance (during summer months maybe 3-6 months ahaid!) and there is an entrance fee! (around 35€ for non-orthodox). Luckily a lot of that can be done via internet! In Mount Athos they follow the (old) Julian Calendar, no womens allowed , certain rules to follow (even for eating/clothing), generally you never go there for tourism (whatever that means) but for your ''Inner Personal spiritual religious existencial concerns...'' also whatever that means, (plus there is a chance you may find some answers...).

@@jimjim8645 Yep, I actually know about all that. I was considering going there my first time to Greece in 1990, but realized it was too late to plan it. Something I'd love to do at some point in the future but will have to plan ahead. Hopefully my BA in World Religions would help get me in. I wonder what I could get away with as far as filming, I guess at least while hiking on my own between the monasteries.
@jimjim8645
@jimjim8645 7 ай бұрын
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Oh, good you are familiar with the technicalities... As far as filming hiking alone would be no problem (usually monks want not to be filmed), as far as the monasteries,churches inside you can ''negotiate'' with the ''abbot''. Have in mind that a whole lot has changed!! even in ''Mount Athos'' since 1990 ,restorations ,repairs,electricity, even mobile phones solar panels, jeeps...

Chronia polla Gabriel and as we say today "Christos Anesti"(=Christ has risen) and as a reply you say "Alithos Anesti"(Risen indeed)! Deeply religious atmosphere the last three days, in Greece Easter is the biggest festival of all year,along with the 15th of August,the day Saint Mary died.In Tinos you must visit the monastery, especially on this day,the festivities are unique.In Kea (Tzia also) a lot of ancient history but you will definitely also need a car, as it is mountainous but beautiful.

Gabriel, I love catching up on your Greek videos. I have family who live in Greece and I visit the island. A fantastic authentic laid-back island near you is called Agistri. There's a great affordable hotel/restaurant/rooms called Alkyoni Rooms/restaurant, In the summer the restaurant is so busy it's pre-book only. The island is small enough to travel by rent a bike, go for the electric bikes, much easier.

in my opinion renting a car to visit a country is the best way to go. I actually save money with the car, I sleep only 4 to 6 hours a day, so I sleep on the car and get a hotel about 72 hours shower on truck rest areas and stay on hostels in truck rest areas, they are clean safe and great food. I drive between cities at night and at 0001 start to look for rest areas, it works for me . great video . saludos

This is a good move it's Easter weekend and the traffic on the mainland could be massively horrendous it seems like many people stay home or visit family on the mainland. I didn't see you marking any new islands you visited how many is that now? The water looks warm enough to take a dip in even though there aren't any people in the water yet.

It's new to this particular set of routes this year. It looks very small, as I expected. I can't see much seating on the video. That car literally couldn’t get up some of the hills in Andros. One time I had to turn off the AC and get the passenger out of the car to make it up the hill LOL . The car used so much gas because the engine so small. In Andros, I could not get past third gear LOL. So when I saw your rental car in the video, it brought back memories of that piece of crap car and had the in Andros. Hope you enjoyed Andros.
